Stop Shifting Your Weight! It’s bad for your swing and your body. Here I show you that no weight shift is required to create a club head speed of 118 with 2400 revs of spin. This adds up to big and efficient power.

This looks to me like the well-known “flamingo drill” but with the right foot resting on the ground. Those familiar with the drill know that it is performed by hitting balls standing with all your weight on your left leg with your right toe just touching the ground for balance. Done correctly, you can hit the ball almost as far as you can on two legs, which teaches you something about where most of the power really comes from in the golf swing.

I experienced this today...However, for me, the key is--after the position, of course--is dropping the hands. At least for me, this is where the effortless power comes from. That being said, this is so different from conventional instruction (and golf experience) that it probably will take some time before anyone can really feel the difference.

Jim, I have been trying your swing and switching back to the traditional swing. To many moves to figure out on the traditional swing I'm done with the traditional swing.I will now make a total commitment to your swing. Much easier for a guy 66 and my back doesn't hurt when I'm done golfing. Thanks for all you do. Chip

The traditional swing espouses that you swing up on the driver to obtain maximal contact and distance. If I keep my weight still on my front foot, how can I do anything but hit down on the ball, imparting a low trajectory drive

Jim consistently states, doesn’t matter where you move hands and arms. Weight forward, closed shoulder and stillness. Stillness is the absolute key. Any movement and swing won’t work. I gave up on it, and went back and that’s what I realized. I will never go back to traditional swing

@@jimvenetosgolf Hi Jim. Spent the entire day on range with your swing. Even with 3 wood. Over 225 yards. Yes and straight. What I've found is that as you favor the left leg the club face opens and some shots veer off to the right. How does one correct, if you shut the face down it feels like a pull. But yes...once you remain still on left side and dont try to hit too hard its straight and easy. I'm sold

I thought it you were meant to be still through the shot and only allow your arm to passively go through the shot. On the downswing he's using his hips and there's definitely a athletic movement there. . Someone enlighten me please?

@@jimvenetosgolf ok thanks. For a round this swing clicked for me. I was effortlessly hitting high draw drives further than I've ever done. Felt like magic. I've never been able to recreate since. I was concentrating on getting right elbow to sternum in downswing. There's so many variables in the swing I can't pinpoint what was working that day and why I've never been able to recreate those strikes. I'm still chasing that feeling. The JV swing is great and I've been using for years. I only play a handful of times a year but I can always depend on it.

Jim- noticed when you start your down transition, your shoulders stay still.. but your left hip actually moves/bumps to start it?
@jimvenetosgolf
@jimvenetosgolf 5 жыл бұрын
Arnie Kourtjian that isn’t how the down swing is initiated, once you understand stillness you’ll realize that anything that moves is a product of stillness from the set up.
@NewJerusalem77
@NewJerusalem77 5 жыл бұрын
Jim talks about stillness but I think people thinks he means literally frozen. There is some very tiny motion because it is an athletic endeavor and your body still has to have counterbalancing forces to accommodate the swinging of the arms and hands. That's just physics and anatomy. You just dont shift all over the planet or necessarily try to shift.
