Welcome to Jinjer. They are Ukrainian from the Russian speaking area that is now under RuSSian occupation. They are currently on a world tour as ambassadors for Ukraine telling the world about their situation. They shine in their live performances. I recommend "Perennial" live at Wacken.

Please do not use descriptions such as "Russian-speaking area" about Ukraine. It is extremely western-centric (~ignorant) and insulting to Ukrainians. Ukraine is a remnant piece of a multi-ethnic empire or two. Therefore, you will NOT find isolated pockets where people reunited under an ethnicity, language or religion. Wherever you go, you will find apartment buildings with people of each origin, language, and faith reside together. East is not (like) West.

I knew somebody would have already recommended this one. There are plenty of other good ones, but Perennial shows their live skills and convinces doubters that she's really doing it herself.

@ FFS man. People can't speak to anything other than what they know. And you can't expect people to Google everything single thing into infinity beforemaking an attempt at a YT comment. Also EVERYTHING is insulting to someone somewhere. Naturally we should not seek to insult but you can't live life on egg shells afraid of insulting someone. To speak is to risk offending and it's human to error. People should stop being offended by every single thing.

Calling them Russian hurts a bit. They're from eastern Ukraine and had to flee in 2014 when the war came, in order to continue to make music. They eventually found residence in Kyiv but were basically on tour ever since. It's not so obvious in this song, but her main influence for her harsh vocals is actually Randy Blythe from Lamb of God.

The only professionally trained member of the band is Vlad the drummer who is classically trained as a pianist but taught himself guitar and drums. Tatiana had a few months of singing lessons as a kid, Eugene had some introductory bass lessons, don't know about Roman he's quieter and doesn't talk about himself as much. Ukraine is a hard place to make it as a musician so only the most talented and obsessed make it. Subbed, even though you said Russian heh. To see a piece focusing on her growls with some amazing instrumental composition, do Who Is Gonna Be The One live. Tatiana was inspired to learn by Otep, but worked hard to emulate Randy Blyrhe. Not a reaction request unless you want to but search "jinjer lamb of god" to find bootlegs of a Laid To Rest cover they used to do when they were getting started - best sound is the one uploaded by NosSam in 2012 with the title in all cyrillic except the name Jinjer.

That Lamb of God cover they did is fucking sick, most people don't even know that video is out there. Takes a true Jinjer fan to know about that one considering how old the video is.

thanx for your interest in Jinjer! IMO Jinjer is rhythmically even more difficult than dream theater and makes world-class music in every respect. However, I think that you can't compare Jinjer with any other band, Jinjer does Jinjer music............ I heard Jinjer for the first time 4 years ago and I'm thrilled. Bands like this don't come around very often... lovely greetings from a German musician > which band is your opener song from, I like it

🔥Welcome to Jinjer! I just found your channel, great reaction Micah, subbed! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and beautiful growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces in 2019, I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wakeup alarm for a couple years and I still love it more every time I hear it). TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the very long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣 I love the story of Tatiana getting interested in learning to growl. In her own words, "I was inspired by Otep (Shamaya). When I was 15, my friend showed me a record of House of Secrets. I was like, ‘That dude - his voice is so powerful. And he said, ‘Oh come on Tatiana, that’s actually a woman!’ I was like, ‘What?’ She blew my mind. That was the time, the moment when I realized I wanted to shock people just like her. I just had the feeling or the intuition, like an extra sense that this is what I’m made to do.” The four current members have essentially no musical training except for Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. They've been a tour heavy band, on the road almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020 and still touring again since the covid shutdowns, hard work that has made them fantastic live and they make it look effortless. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the newest album Wallflowers, videos are out for Vortex, Mediator, Wallflower, Disclosure!, and Call Me A Symbol. Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they've considered their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see former Jinjer guitarist turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, on guitar in older Jinjer videos, and acting as an interrogator in one of their newer videos, Disclosure! One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines her beautiful growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander, Dip A Sail and Bad Water. Other favorites of mine are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Note that because Jinjer has so many great official videos and so many astounding live performance videos, no Jinjer fan will ever mind if you react to a second video for a Jinjer song you've already heard, so whichever songs you choose, whatever pace you like: judging by your reaction, I know you'll keep trying more Jinjer and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

It's not "forward slash" it's slash. If I handed someone a whoopass it's handed. If I backhanded the asshat, I backhanded him. Ass whoopins like the amazing performance of Jinjer are up front and center. They slash you to your soul or they suprise the shit out of you with a backhand. This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as Jinjer is concerned. Check out their song Home Back. Between the Unholy dissident chord structures of the song and the bottom basement gnarly growl Tatiana pulls off it really shows just what this band is capable of. Not to mention this was written after Russia initially invaded their home country of Donetsk Ukraine back in 2014.

In the world of "metalcore/progressive metal" you won't find a tighter band. This video was intended to highlight their drummer, Vlad. It turned into something else. You'll get some great recommendations for live stuff. Check them out. They are better live, but ignore Hellfest. That was a disaster technically for a lot of good bands. They screwed a bunch of the bands I love, like Nightwish. Go for Wacken, in Germany, or Kiev, in Ukraine.
