Jinjer albums RANKED: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJSaqI1umcxlg5o

This kind of video breakdown is exactly why I follow your channel. You give no credence to sacred cows and while some find you triggering, others find you honest and we need that. For all the great metal out there, there's a lot of not-so-great metal to sift through. So to hear you get excited for a song from a band I like as well, is a breath of fresh air :)

I love to see Jinjer succeed. Can’t wait to hear this single. One of the only modern metal bands that has a nice, unique sound and tasteful instrumentation.

Wallflowers became my favorite album of all time. The meandering riffs and melodies are the main reason i love it. Took many listens for it to click but man its a masterpiece in my eyes. My only complaint on wallflowers is the mix sounding muddy on the low end but on these new songs the mix is great. Excited for the new album but winter of 2025 is a hard wait.
@DrewCheech2 ай бұрын
This was my experience as well. Wallflowers was a slow burn for me, that started to click the more I listened to it. The way the songs were described as meandering, all over the place, not having focus - only felt that way on my first playthrough. The more I ingested, the more it made sense. The "all over the place" nature is actually very much on purpose, with purpose. Songs like Dead Hands Feel No Pain, and As I Boil Ice - are some of the most technically well crafted songs they've ever made. Wallflowers, IMHO, is a case study in how songs can be amazing without necessarily being "catchy."

I don't think it's my favourite Jinjer album, but I do *love* Wallflowers. "Dead Hands" & "Mediator" really grew on me. "Copycat" & "Colossus" are pretty mediocre to me, but the rest of the album is great to superb in my books.

@@hemlock399 agreed on the weaker songs. Funnily enough, Mediator continues too be a little too chaotic for me lol

I took Wallflowers song by song. I don't think I've heard it from beginning to end. Some of the songs grew on me and it's not unusual for me with them to hear a live version and suddenly like a song I didn't really get into before.
@ShmeeGrim2 ай бұрын
I still go back and listen to Wallflowers pretty often. I don't love every song on it, but there are enough bangers to keep me coming back. Call Me a Symbol and Mediator are some of their best songs they've ever made, imo.

I wasn't a big fan of Wallflowers either. I still hold Macro as my favorite Jinjer album, I think it's their best thus far. Looking forward to the new record and I might even revisit Wallflowers 💯🔥🔥

I like Wallflowers because of the awesome riff construction. Equally technical and catchy. Also the more moody songs and parts(Pearls and Swine being my fav). Probably their least heavy album tho?

I like your take on the song and on Jinjer in general even though I don't 100% agree. Your statements are always well argumented and expressed in a personal way which makes you more credible than a lot of (more well known) reviewers.

Your opinions are as valid as anyone elses. I don't want to hear someone who just agrees with everything. The world is already full of dick riders. As a big fan of jazz-fusion, Wallflowers was beautiful. It sounded like new music being created....it only sounded like Jinjer. Much of Micro and Macro sound only like Jinjer too (you can hear the influences from other bands of course, but the songs themselves are more unique) but Wallflowers was special. Rogue and their other new track, Fast Draw, are both super brutal and 100% harsh lyrics. Apparently Vlad composed some of the new songs in Kiev while Russia was attacking the city. Rogue and Full Clip are as angry as I have heard the band. Keep rocking. 🤘

When Wallflowers was released we said here (somewhat jokingly) that they might call Max Martin to help with the melodies and choruses (so good on Micro and Macro). It seems that the solution has been to do away with the melodies and go straight to mathcore. Not complaining, bands have to evolve, but I am somehow sad as it won't be anymore a crazy mesmerizing bossanova fusion like 'Home Back' has.

The only Jinjer song I like is Pisces, and this was one of their worst. They're at their best when the progressive influence is at the forefront and their worst (which is most of the time) when their core influence is at the forefront. The band would get no attention if they didn't have the gimmick of a female harsh vocalist. Vintersea and Oceans of Slumber are the bands Jinjer wishes it was.
@MetalTrenches2 ай бұрын
@@Frogmonkey095 calling having a female vocalist a “gimmick” is up there with the silliest things I have ever heard. There are so many metal bands with female vocalists. More than ever.
@Frogmonkey0952 ай бұрын
@MetalTrenches I'm aware of the prevalence of female metal vocalists, hence my references to Oceans of Slumber and Vintersea, bands I adore. Outside of symphonic metal, it's not all that common, especially in more extreme styles. The issue with Jinjer is that Tati's the only interesting thing about the band. They wouldn't be half as popular as they are if they had a male singer. To be fair though, most things are gimmicks. Slipknot's masks are gimmicks, King Diamond's vocal style is a gimmick, etc. Anything that goes against the norm is a gimmick. It's simply a thing that helps a band stand out from the others. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Jinjer's gimmick is "hey, we have this awesome singer who can go from angelic clean singing to extreme harsh vocals." The direction of the band is my issue, not Tati.
@MetalTrenches2 ай бұрын
@@Frogmonkey095 I’d argue that Vlad is an equally talented drummer. And there are plenty of other vocalists with a similar or heavier range. I mentioned Entheos in the video. Of course there’s Spiritbox. There’s Abnormality for something more brutal. More black metal female vocalists now too. If I pulled up my list even from new releases this year I’ve probably listened to close to 40 at least with female vocalists from across the spectrum.
@Frogmonkey0952 ай бұрын
@MetalTrenches Individually, the members of Jinjer are talented yes. I'm just biased though because I don't like core music. Maybe gimmick is too harsh of a word, and I definitely don't mean to sound sexist. But the fact that it is a woman does draw more attention to the band and bands like them. But yeah, there are a lot more women in extreme bands nowadays. It's still something that's far from the norm, and definitely something that grabs people's attention. It's definitely a factor in a band's exposure.
