We're trying something a different this week by incorporating clips as a framing device for specific conversations. The hope is that it helps our audience have an even deeper appreciation for Joel. We think it resulted in one of the best episodes we've ever done but excited to hear your thoughts. The full things drops tomorrow so hit subscribe if you haven't and we'll see you then.

It's pretty special that both Embiid and Siakam - both from Cameroon with similar stories of starting basketball late - are now excelling at the game. Imagine starting something at 16 and 17 respectively and then by 28 and 27 you are in the game's top 1 percent. Says a lot about basketball in Africa but specifically how Luc Mbah a Moute has an absolute eagle eye for talent.

Joel's been an outstanding 76er. I'm in Philly and the politics is so raunchy that I don't believe Philadelphians realize that they have a great one who, despite being a playful young man, has kept his poise in a difficult political landscape. He's a very level human being and typically people like him have special parents. I have never heard Embiid be the least bit offensive toward any fans for instant gratification. He is generous, engaging, genuine and a joy to watch on the court. I replayed a move several times recently on KZbin. It was a back to the basket, two power dribble move that led to a floater in the lane. A few years ago that play would have been a 5 dribble clunker off his foot. Happened many times early on. He's made incredible strives. He has unbelievable touch. His release is pretty and I've never seen a guy his size with that soft effortless release. I enjoy watching him play and continue to improve as the win/loss column shifts toward more w's. I hope Embiid has a long healthy career, makes a lot of money, retires as a 76er and goes on to great things. A championship would be nice too!

I'm here in L.A., but I've been keeping my eye on Philly ever Joel came to town. I was a big JJ Redick fan (even though he went to Duke) and I was really happy for him when he left the Clippers to go join Joel. I still believe a Sixers team with Joel, JJ, and Jimmy Butler and no Ben Simmons would have made a Finals appearance easily, especially with LeBron going to the West. Joel is the real deal and I'm really hoping he get the MVP this year.

Bro. JJ Reddick, please bring giannis antetokounmpo as a guest. Giannis has a fascinating history growing in Greece as a child of an African immigrant, his family faced difficult times, discrimination and poor living conditions. Giannis overcoming all the struggles to be where he's today would inspire many children of immigrants in Greece and around the world like him who look up to him. Gianni's story will inspire disadvantage kids. Thank you. I am a huge fan of you and respect you.

This guy is special. The things he’s done for the Sixers since they had the worst record in NBA history before he started playing (10-72) to now carrying them basically all season without any other allstars until James Harden joined.. from putting up pretty much the best numbers in the league, to leading his team to one of the East’s top spots.. all while vastly improving his conditioning, maturity, and leadership. The true definition of an all around MVP.

Seeing Joel grow into a better player and leader every year is really inspiring and is why he's my favorite player, also the only reason I root for the Sixers. The man's been through it all: starting off late, numerous injuries, maturity and conditioning being questioned, brother passing away, being the VERY GUY to defend the Kawhi shot, then numerous playoff disappointments afterwards. It's frustrating how despite all his greatness, the franchise can never put together a good enough team around him. I'm personally not optimistic we'll make a deep playoff run, but if we even have a puncher's chance, it'll be because of Joel

If Jokic or Giannis win the award, I'm okay with that because those are great players who deserve it, but at the same time, they've already got theirs and we know their story. Not enough people know Embiid's story, and they'll use every excuse to undermine him and say the process was a failure (those same people will praise Sam Presti and the Thunder), that he never makes it past the second round (look how long it took for Ewing, McGrady, Dirk, etc., guys like Yao or Bernard King never even made it that far), that he gets all his points from FTs (those same people will praise LeBron for the same thing, plus Embiid's game wasn't always like that. what's he supposed to do? tell the ref nah they didn't foul me?), or because he talks trash (who doesn't? plus, he's easily the funniest player outside of Boban or Blake Griffin). Embiid's injuries messed him up, so he'll have a shorter prime than others, so it really is now or never for the guy and it would really sting if JoJo wins neither MVP or a ring or a scoring title this year.
