Knife attacks can be extremely dangerous and potentially life-threatening. Knives are easily accessible, concealable, and can cause significant harm due to their sharp blades. Here are some points to consider regarding the dangers of knife attacks:
High potential for injury: Knife attacks can result in severe injuries, including deep wounds, organ damage, severed arteries or tendons, and even death. The sharpness and stabbing motion of a knife make it a highly effective weapon.
Rapid escalation: Knife attacks often escalate quickly, as the attacker can inflict multiple wounds in a short amount of time. This rapidity can limit the victim's ability to defend themselves or escape.
Close-quarters combat: Knife attacks typically occur in close proximity, making it difficult for the victim to create distance or evade the assailant. The close-quarters nature of such attacks increases the chances of sustaining serious injuries.
Emotional and psychological impact: Surviving a knife attack can leave victims with long-lasting psychological trauma. The fear, helplessness, and sense of vulnerability experienced during such an incident can have profound effects on a person's mental well-being.
Difficulty in self-defense: Due to the proximity and speed of knife attacks, defending oneself against a knife-wielding assailant can be extremely challenging. Traditional self-defense techniques may not be as effective against an armed attacker, and attempting to disarm an assailant can be highly risky.
Potential for fatal outcomes: Knife attacks have the potential to be fatal, even with a single well-placed strike. The risk of severe injury or death is significantly higher when vital areas of the body, such as the neck, chest, or abdomen, are targeted.
Unpredictability and surprise factor: Knife attacks can occur suddenly and unexpectedly, catching the victim off guard. The element of surprise makes it harder to anticipate or prepare for an attack, increasing the danger involved.
It is important to note that while the dangers of knife attacks are significant, it is equally important not to live in constant fear. Being aware of one's surroundings, practicing personal safety measures, and knowing basic self-defense techniques can help improve personal safety. Additionally, reporting suspicious activities or individuals to the appropriate authorities can contribute to community safety.Support us:

I would add that, no matter how many street fights you've been in, humble yourself & learn from those younger than you & who have had different experiences in their country. The number of fights you've been in doesn't always matter, because they could've been mostly low quality fighters. Someone with fewer fights can still be far more skilled than you, if their training something cutting edge like IFO Jeet Kune Do ... which is Bruce Lee's art. Thanks to Thomas Marx for sharing that timeless, core tool from JKD that could certainly save a life.

I've been saying this for several years, because people act like a knife assault is a death sentence. The knife is a lifeless tool, it's the attacker you need to pull the plug on. No one wants to be in a knife fight. I've been in at least three & always used the side kick long range & JKD street grappling ( not sport ) to groin kick at close range. You are fortunate if it's long range, because you can see the weapon & distance is your friend. If you think a swift, crushing side kick to the knee won't stop a knife attacker, then you've never seen a real JKD side kick. I've met John Paul Daily twice, he has incredible power in his side kick, and I've been around this long enough to know that someone like Thomas Marx could cripple you with his side kick. So do the math, the side kick is the longest, safest weapon if you train it.

Great explanation, love the slow-mos. The only thing that ends the fight in your favor is when you manage to land a good attack. Thomas always shows great examples where you can do this as early as possible. Every second wasted on grabbing and trapping and "controlling" is only prolonging the fight, thats not something you want. Finish him, be safe.

@@johnhinojosa3916 even some self defense/martial arts instructors have admitted that most knife disarm techniques have low probability of working and that getting cut is practically inevitable because human beings are not robots ( such as getting cut in you hand or arm ). Facing an attacker who is armed with a knife when you are empty handed is very dangerous and should be avoided at all costs if possible.

The counter I like most is that kick to the knee as you lean back, then sprint out of there! By kicking his lead knee you have a great head start.

Leaning back steals power and weight from the side-kick and disrupts your balance. Ted Wong specifically mentioned this common mistake at a seminar.

Would like to see more skilled, self defense geared system instructors like Yourself and a few others. Ramsey and " Company " were often Atrocious, and because they dont train " self defense " they had VERY few good answers. Good job👍

Usually a person who wants to attack you with a knife he doesn't previously show you the knife. Most cases when certain people were stabbed or cut with a knife were attacked by surprise. That's why you are right in saying that keeping distance is very important because you don't know if that guy has a knife he's hiding

@@ThomasMarxJeetKuneDoIFO yes, it's a serious problem here. Aha but I have a serious question and I thank you in advance : Due to burnout, I was restricted to training at home and a few times private training with my sifu. I have a bob but with legs (the brand is shark), a wooden dummy, and I trained the jkd dvd of Ron Balicki the last years. Now I'm stuck in a dilemma : I feel I want to start adding modern techniques from other styles to shape my personal jkd, BUT I also think I need to start decent lessons, group preferably, to study jun fan jkd with all technical details, I didn't have a chance earlier. One sifu teaches group training jun fan jkd, the other sifu teaches jkd (concept) meaning modern techniques from other styles that are useful. As Dan Innosanto also said : Jun fan jkd is a good basis for personal jkd. Can you give me any advice on what path I should go ? When I watch your videos, I really want to train jun fan jkd ❤️ but maybe discard the jun juk Tek, jun O'ou Tek, jun gua Tek, ... All spinning kicks and high kicks...you get the idea. I think the spinning kicks are a risk to use when I get attacked, that's the reason. What is your feeling about this ? Thank you so much for an advice. 🙏🏻

One inch punch is a demonstration technique, that shows the effect of putting the body weight behind the punch. JKDs jab is the straight lead. There are two videos about this on this channel already.

@SuperMaryu767 Жыл бұрын
@Bartron Flat Earth the one inch punch is from wing chun and how it’s done is vastly different from the straight lead. The one inch punch is done from a standing position with your fist a few inches away and no stepping. The straight lead is done by using your whole body with momentum. No need to jab since it just comes from the arm with hardly any power.

You have a threat in front of you, why are you waiting? Attack him first. Action beats reaction and you cannot read the attackers mind. If someone threatens you with a gun do you wait for the trigger to be pulled or do you move first? Why are you treating a knife any different?
