My esc also died because it's not waterproof. Maby splash proof but definitely not waterproof. Mounted a hobbywing wp sc8 esc in my Jlb truggy yesterday and works and fits great.

This is a great DYS video I own this truck also and this is this is first upgrade I have seen. But have you ever hydroplane it? If so do you have video of you waterproofing it. Thanks

I just upgraded my steering servo too! Mine died without any reasons... With my new servo, it turns faster but I broke a steering link... I hope I'll get spare part soon!

Is a cooling fan needed for the new Castle ESC? Or does it work cool/fine without one?
@luckynumbersevuuun6 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro, i just received my Cheetah yesterday and the esc is DOA. Could you please post the details about your ESC, there are a few models castle makes that look the same. Please also comment about if youre still using the same ESC as its over a year past your upgrade and it would be very cool to know if this was at least going to last for a year. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, I think my 1st move will be servo, like the one you just bought, if the esc really is waterproof, maybe it's the servo, I'm new to the hobby and a little unsure how to work on them. I know the next truckone I get will make sure it's water proof
@rcmustsee4377 жыл бұрын
replacing the servo is not too tricky. just have to make sure the horn is set to the right position with the wheels pointing straight forward. good luck to you bro!

rc mustsee not to be a bother, but one more thing, I took the cheetah out today to check it out again and I notice when I turn wheels with the radio the motor would die down and lights blink, a couple times the motor cut off altogether, defiantly makes me think it's the servo, after looking at the box again it said waterproof speed control. It did not say waterproof servo. Are you satisfied with the one you got? Thanks for your time, I enjoy the vids
@rcmustsee4377 жыл бұрын
that sounds like a bad servo to me (I am no rc expert!) I am happy with the one I got. I asked my hobby shop guy for something waterproof, reliable and not fancy. its not super fast and not ultra strong but perfectly adequate for what I need it for. I think it was around $50. if you have more questions check out my facebook page (on the bottom right corner of the main page picture) or join the cheetah enthusiast faebook page. there are over 100 people on there that are posting questions, mods and other info. facebook.com/groups/1662196110746189/

I have exactly the same problem, that is why I am researching this. I borrowed a friends servo and it still did exactly the same thing, I then unplugged the servo and ran the esc with just the receiver and everything worked perfect. I then borrowed a receiver from the same friend and obviously had to use his radio and EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECT!

Paul Olsen JLB SERVOS ARE NOT GOOD AT F****** ALL. My first servo died, so I got the exact same one again. After 10 runs, it died again. Buy a aftermarket servo, don't waste your time with the stock one.

I changed the servo in my Original JLB Cheetah. But when I try and drive it and turn. But then all power cuts out and the light on the receiver starts to flash. Do you know what I could do to stop this from happening to be able to drive it

Did the new futaba servo make a difference? It's specs show it slower and weaker than the oem servo.
@rcmustsee4377 жыл бұрын
the oem turns out to be crap. the futaba is great. I didn't want anything fancy. just reliable and waterproof. it even worked great at the track so def worth it.

My cheetah works fine for about 5mins then goes into a slow crawl, I can cut power off and back on and get the same thing, I did get it wet a couple days ago, does that sound like the esc?
@rcmustsee4377 жыл бұрын
it very well could be. servo or esc.
@jbtrail54657 жыл бұрын
ok got my cheetah the esc is acting up what is a good esc for this truck or should I do a motor and esc combo what is a good setup for this model
@rcmustsee4377 жыл бұрын
Jb Trail there are a ton of options. no need to replace the motor. get a good servo and see what happens. the esc has proven to not be waterproof so if you wanna drive in the mud may not be a bad idea to replace that too. I'm no expert in electronics so go to your local hobby shop and ask them.
@h.w.m.3064 жыл бұрын
I bought the cheetah without electronics so I can make it faster Do you know if the motor mount would fit any motor or what motors it would fit
@rcmustsee4374 жыл бұрын
Haven't touched the cheetah in years but most motors should fit. check out the cheetah fb page.

Would you recommend the futaba servo you got?
@rcmustsee4377 жыл бұрын
Chicken Bro Productions its pretty slow. prob not
@nikitafedorenko82917 жыл бұрын
rc mustsee because this servo is very cheap. Futaba servos that costs over 100$ are very good. I recommend to by lepard hobby servo for jlb

@gourobkundu21734 жыл бұрын
Yea, but the sidewinder cannot take 4s. The stock esc can.
@rcmustsee4374 жыл бұрын
the esc on my cheetah could not handle 4s. they released an updated version with a 120 amp esc
@theresearcher82676 жыл бұрын
Actually, just pulling the button for reverse controls won't solve the problem, because like thatthe faster gear will be the backward, so you have to swap two wires of the motor connected to the ESC.
@rcmustsee4376 жыл бұрын
that makes sense because the esc overheats overtime i use it now. thanks for the tip!
@Mithun-roy-vettath7 жыл бұрын
dude try adding 24 mm hex hub & put xmaxx tires!
@rcmustsee4377 жыл бұрын
that would be cool but i kinda went down that road already. may slap some 5th scale race wheels and tires on there and take her to the track! thanks for watching!

I wish you uploaded this video sooner. I ended up buying the normal servo again after the old one broke. I would've got a waterproof one, but I didn't know which ones would work. I'm sad now
@andrewap776 жыл бұрын
Chicken Bro Productions invest in a spray can rubber seals like the TV commercials and seal it around the edges or brush it on. You can get it at Wal-Mart are most hardware stores now.
