I know this video is made 2 years ago but thank you so much for making this video, it really opened my eyes. I graduated from college this year and I've been looking for ways to start making money with my art (my dream business) and honestly I never thought of it this way. I was never taught how to manage finance or even manage an independent business it was just always "go to college, get a degree and work in a stable job" in school so I've been reading a lot about finance recently because I really want to understand how the market works especially when I am starting off in my career. I guess it's good to have a stable income but I really want to have my own business and flourish on my own. I've been doing internships but I also really want to build my social media following as well to hopefully be able to sell my art. I'm still learning something new everything especially from 3D modeling, rigging and 3D animation.

Thanks, JL for the video. Arstation really did change the game for the 3D community, Good points to support indie developers, or creating content used for popular games. The marketing information is very, very valuable and I believe it needs to be taught in schools. Economic literacy will keep people in 3D so they can support themselves, especially during an economic downturn. Your perspective is very useful to a lot of people.

This is very useful info. I myself have been wanting to start creating 3d assets for websites like Sketchfab, and consistently create art in general. Thank you for the advice! You rock!

Thank you very much for this information. There's a lot of top lists videos saying something vague like "just build assets. you're welcome". You're going in depth. Thank you for that.

Hello, there are a lot of free models you can download, I always wonder why people give 3D models for free?

thanks for the video, I would like to know if I model any kind of branded furniture and sell that 3d model by naming the brand's name and if the brand sees my 3d model, will they come up with any legal notice? for example, is there any problem modeling a branded shoe like "Nike" or "Adidas" and selling them online?
@TeoLujan3 жыл бұрын
You'd probably have to pay them a royalty since it's not your original idea, like If I modeled Yoda, Disney would probably take notice and send me an email explaining what I did and what I could do to continue selling it. Atleast that's how I hear it is

personally I wouldn't classify that as *passive* income because there's so much time involved in the making of a 3d model without actually getting paid and you make money only if the model is good and selling! of course the model could sell for a few years and you don't touch it after its done unless you make updates... that's my point of view on this... great video btw 👍

This is called struggle . U can't get anything with struggling. He is giving the information how u can have a chance make a passive income. He is not gurenteeing that u will definitely start getting paid. All u can do is try.
@komradkyle4 жыл бұрын
In Economics to its the same, Passive Income always requires an upfront investment of time or money to get the initial start.

I think it's better just to not bother with marketing, exporting and providing support for your 3d assets unless for some reason you REALLY need money. It's just absolutely not worth the time and effort doing all that for pocket change. Seriously just work at mcdonald's or something until you get a starter job as a 3d modelling guy.
