If you get upset at someone actually practicing and getting better because it means you can't hop in and have casual fun then it means that casual fun to you is winning, and if you're upset that you can't win because other people are practicing and getting better while you want to win in a competitive game without putting in any work at all then that just makes you lazy.

I tried mastering the mini games for Pummel Party and I killed the game for my friends because now I win almost all the mini games defeting the point of casual gaming that comes with the name "party" no one wants to be stressed at a party.

Yep, it's actually really smart design in many ways. Granted, that guy's argument has lots of truth to it too - in most other genres motion inputs would be considered as maddening, and there are arguments to be made that many fighting games have bloated move lists to begin with. I agree with some of the core points, but his his mistake is thinking that motion inputs are inherently bad. Both solutions have pros and cons.

I had a friend who is LITERALLY the worst fighting game player of all time. Mechanically he's pretty weak but it's his knowledge, attitude, and plain raging which really sets things apart. ---------------- - He plays ONLY the final boss character of a fighting game because he thinks they're clearly the best and why would anyone want to play anything else. - He uses ONLY a single move in a character's kit, because he thinks that if it's their best move then it'll always be their best move in every situation and should just try and DPS with it as best he can. Any time spent not using this move is wasted time he could have been using that move. - He thinks that blocking is actually useless because all it does is waste time and make you take free chip damage. - He at one point said that jumping was overpowered and needed to be removed... He later took it back and admitted he was overreacting... But then immediately followed it with: "But... if I press 4 buttons to attack and you just press one and completely counter it, you have to admit that's a little cheap!" - Also on a less scrubby just plain bad note, he thought he discovered a secret tech when he found out you didn't have to return your controls to neutral in between each direction to shoot a fireball in Street Fighter (before then he was literally tapping down, then down-forwards, then forwards on the D-Pad to do so, which honestly amazes me more than amuses me.. he actually managed to shoot them like *that* for a full year.) ---------------- He's 26 years old and has been playing various Fighting Games for over 6 years. Mainly USF4 (mains Seth's Sonic Boom), Pokken (mains SM2's 6Y), and SoulCalibur6 (mains Nightmare's 6AA). Refused to play SmashBros because their final bosses aren't playable so he could never be sure who to pick.

Like, when you miss input the reversal that could have both saved you and give you the win. Is about you failing. So, dont look at it from the perspective of logic, is more about self improvement and being strict with yourself. And it isnt about minimizing the effort of the oponent, it really isnt. Its even more hilarious, because unless you're tip top of the pros, the tier lists don't mean shit anyways. They only apply to the people that can use those characters to the fullest. Aside from Videl, she really is kinda bad lol

Its very demoralising if you've never played a fighting game before and in order to even participate in a way that isn't wasting your time you have to smash your head against the brick wall that is learning motion inputs, maybe even realising that in order to have a shot you need a new type of controller just for this type of game

-dude u should of just done ur research lmfao , nerf mountain way too much health -Art is not all about realism , i do like the look of the left picture better but van gogh was around in the 19th century , the left picture was painted in the 1960s. -Skilled based matchmaking is one of the best decisions made in the gaming industry -"its a fighting game , no skill required mash buttons and win , exciting." I hate this so much because most people who dont play fighting games think you just mash buttons to win. Thats not how it fucking works m8 , you actually have to know what your moves do and how to execute them , anyone who has tried to beat me by mashing buttons has failed horribly , fighting games are harder than people think , infact they're the hardest genre of gaming in my opinion. -This guy is a god damn legend -People who complain about rushdown in fighting games are the same ones who complain about long range play in shooting games , its the way the game is meant to be played. -z e r o g a r b -Honestly , if a quarter circle is too complex for you , just push down and then swing your stick to forward instead because thats literally what a quarter circle is. -I'm not a huge fan of overly defensive play either but daigo's parry is extremely hard to pull off and i personally respect it. -I hate to say it but i agree with this guy , people nowadays are too overly sweaty in party games , i get the sweatiness in actual competitive genres like shooting and fighting games but why people gotta ruin people days on games like fall guys? Fall guys is a casual game , for casual players to enjoy themselves. If you wanna sweat go play some overwatch , go play some guilty gear , just dont barrage a party game with a tryhard mindset

About "U only won because I lost", it's funny because time ago it seemed to me that Rafa Nadal (the tennis player) had a very long streak of no losses. He either was winning or, as soon as he realized he was going to loose, he would drop the match claiming some physical issue or whatever. Or at least it looked so to me. That sentence perfectly describes the idea that I was having of Rafa Nadal. 😊

I'm pretty sure Dark Souls has no skillbased matchmaking and the game is better because of it. When you play co-op helping newer players beat the bosses, maybe one in ten times you'll be invaded by a human player, and you never know how dangerous they'll be. Sometimes they execute a perfect dead-angle glitch to ignore your shield defense, sometimes they fall off a cliff.

After #2 I thought it couldn't get any more cringe, but I was wrong. 😂 The guy's treating the simple act of jumping between platforms and occasionally diving as some arcane art that you have to train 12 hours a day and meditate under a waterfall to unlock within yourself. "You should play for fun! Winning shouldn't matter! On another unrelated note, I find it so annoying when I lose that I completely stopped playing games." Classic. That motion input one is pretty funny too. To go off on a tangent here, I got into a discussion on the Core-A video with someone who believed motion inputs were literal gatekeeping. I was saying the whole motion input controversy was like people claiming other things in games are "objectively" bad and should be outright abolished, which going by my experience talking to people online, includes: any kind of levelling system, manual save points, mute protagonists, 2D sprites instead of 3D models (The game in question was, hilariously, Disgaea 5), ever having a single moment in a game where you get lost (even if it's a horror game or has a lot of exploration), and my personal favourite, racing games where you drive on a track, mockingly called "corridor racers." (This as around the time Burnout Paradise and Forza Horizon were gaining popularity with their open worlds) He claimed nobody was making those arguments, and then when I posted a bunch of proof, he started saying some of them were making some good points and that if I disagreed I was mentally challenged and holding back the progression of gaming. My point was people have a wide array of preferences and that there's room for all types of games for different audiences, that one man's trash is another man's treasure, which he took as me saying nobody should be allowed to complain or criticise any game, ever. Apparently. So I think the anti-motion input crowd are actually a byproduct of a rather prevalent attitude amongst gamers that goes like this: "I don't like this thing, therefore it's objectively bad. Therefore anyone who says they like it is either gatekeeping (The worst thing ever!) or has brain damage and should be ignored outright. (Which totally isn't gatekeeping against the disabled.) If game devs make games the way I want it'll be the objectively correct decision for every person everywhere, except for those I disagree with who don't count as people and therefore don't deserve to have fun." Anyway, great video. I'm gonna be searching up some more scrub quotes now!

I grant that simpler one-touch controls makes for better sales I guess, particularly popular anime turned into fighter games (Bleach: Heat The Soul, One Piece: Burning Blood, Naruto: Utimate Ninja Storm) so as to hit the wider market of new gen casuals that weren't baptized in the blood-soaked crusades of paying a visit to your local arcade in the 90s. I fully accept that a fighting game that originated as a manga or anime should have simplified controls because those fanbases are huge, and not all of them wants to be a Fightcade pro. However, a title like Streetfighter or Tekken that is a premier fighting game franchise that has always had competitive fanbases should continue with their format of skilled handling that demands you get good. It is a slap in the face to the old guard that have spent hours and hours perfecting their craft to have newer iterations be simplified. The joy of nailing Daigo parry for the first time is not for everyone (as we well see in another entry in this video).
@joedatius Жыл бұрын
the old guard deserve a slap in the face if they see it upon themselves to whine about different control options 99% of players don't even care about "diago parry" anymore they just want to have fun and play the game.

I think skill based matchmaking can be a valid complaint. It's nice to fight players on a variety of skill levels. If you always play against people on your level, it can be a little tiring for some people, it's nice to be able to crush some people that are much worse or get destroyed by someone much better for the sake of variety. I personally don't mind skill based match making and think Strive has a pretty good system for that. I do think however connection should be prioritized in some sort of way over skill level, if that is what that person may be hinting at.
