@canislupis3129 Жыл бұрын
Charlie only looked calm because he is lazer focused, I mean to a very narrow beam. He has is carrying a lot of the success of every song, he has to know what’s going on every beat. I’ve had the chance to speak with many of the Stones over the years and I listened very carefully for everything Charlie. It is truthful to say he stood out among drummers, and since he was in maybe the best rock and blues band we will ever know for a 60 year run, he had to have the knowing of a lot of things average drummers did not. One of my fav photos of Charlie was at the SARS benefit show in Toronto. The Stones headlined and Rush was opening. I consider Neil Peart to be a slave to the obsession of being the best drummer he could be. Charlie left his camp and sought Neil out to say hello and have a very friendly greeting and shaking hands. One of my favorite photos seeing the two best drummers in the world finally crossing each others path. What a historic moment.

I'm far from a huge Stones fan, but man is Watts one of the most underrated drummers in the history of rock and roll. Mick and Keith get all the attention and it seems like no one is paying attention to the man holding it all together.

Charlie was a classy guy and gave The Rolling Stones an element of that class. I was just a small child when The Rolling Stones got their start. I was lucky enough to see Charlie Watts at the beginning of the No Filters Tour before covid. Charlie played on every recording and in every concert by The Rolling Stones until just before he passed away. He is and will be forever remembered and sorely missed. 💙

Lisa Fischer is the shining star of this performance. From the beautiful subtilty of her intro to the powerful, gut-wrenching solo, she gives a nuanced delivery of a Stone's classic as a gift to the viewer/listener. Ms. Fischer has the artistic sense to add refinement without taking anything away from the original. She OWNS this song and the other musicians pale in her light. I still think the original recorded version of Gimme Shelter with Merry Clayton is the BEST I've heard... so far. Rock on, Stones! And thank you Lisa Fischer!

Charlie Watts. You see drummers in other less-famous bands, (aka all other bands) And the drummers have two-story drum set ups that span from one edge of the stage to the other. Charlie's kit looks like something you'd see in a high school garage band. But, It serves perfectly.
