@@glorytvtv9538 you get fat if you eat meals just before bedtime. That's because the body is in resting state, it has no chance to burn up the food thus, food is stored for later use--this is how we gain weight.
@manuelm56644 жыл бұрын
Yes, rice helps with glucose management. Many years ago, I tried to eat less rice hoping to keep weight down--not good! I felt light-headed a lot and tired, sometimes I thought I would pass out. After I resumed eating rice, my energy levels returned to normal.
@Abc-cp8me4 жыл бұрын
@@manuelm5664 this is wrong. You gain weight on a calorie surplus. Doesn't matter when you eat your food as long as you eat less than the calories you need to maintain your weight you will lose. I'm currently adding more calories during my dinners to avoid waking up hungry in the middle of the night and have better sleep and still im losing weight. It's because I am at a calorie deficit. That being said rice in itself doesn't make you fat - eating too much rice makes you fat. I usually portion my rice to half a cup per meal and I just add finely chopped cauliflower to it and I have a bowl of rice.....that's 90% cauliflower. It's way lower in calories than getting another serving of rice. Portion control really is key

I am so happy you are speaking out about consuming rice. I used to be very anti/rice only because there was so much noise about it being bad. I love Jasmine and Basmati rice. Brown rice didn’t agree with me either. But look at Eastern cultures! In general they do not have a weight problem (like in Western cultures) and rice is a staple in their cuisine. I too have noticed feeling satisfied a lot longer and meals last longer when rice is added. Yay rice! 🍚
@joannasohofficial4 жыл бұрын
🤗🤗🤗 Yes, I think people just label a food bad without looking at the context. If we consume a large amount of rice, potatoes or anything, of course that will lead to weight gain. But if you look at the East Asian people who eats rice every day, they are overweight. It’s about finding the balance 😊

Thank you, Joanna! I grew up eating rice as the basis of a balanced meal as well. As I got older, I ate other carbs to lessen or eliminate my rice intake but like you said, I never really felt full after the meal and came back to eating rice again. I eat no more than half a cup, 1 cup of green leafy vegetables and a palm size lean protein for lunch and dinner. My breakfast is similar to yours -- multigrain toast with almond butter, 1 tsp homemade jam (very low sugar) and 1/4 size banana. No eggs. This takes me 4-5 hours of fullness without snacking. I probably should add an egg for good measure.

Those some annoying friends insist us to just eat bread because we are fat , so ridiculous and very annoyed . Nasi tak bersalah, yang Salah tu makan gulai,dgn sambal,tapi malas makan sayur Dan buah, .rice far more better but take in moderation, rice better than bread because bread itself contains sugar,soda bicarbonate,yeast,salt,. I enjoy your videos, Joanna! Thank you! 🥰 Ive heard others say that white rice is easier on their digestion, as well. I also like rice, but i prefer sweet potato or corn to other grains. You said no restrictions, but i didnt see you eat any fruit - is fruit restricted? If so, why? I like eggs, but cooked well done. 😀🤷🏻♀️

I do enjoy fruits! But it’s not something I consume everyday. Hence I didn’t share it in this video. And to be honest, I ran out of fruits too when filming. 😅

Rice is a staple for many people. I live in Texas so we always eat white rice or Mexican rice...which is just adding tomatoes, garlic and onions, jalapeno peppers and bell peppers.

I cant go a day without rice!! LOL despite having rice everyday, I lose weight and people never believed that I eat rice everyday. Sometimes 3 times a day, because I loooove rice with shakshuka egg in the morning! #riceforlyfe !!!

Do you not put salt on your rice? Is this why it doesn’t affect your weight?

@@lisetteg9736 Oh, sorry, I didn't get the notification for your comment. But, it depends on what rice tho. For the usual plain rice, we don't season it. But fried rice are seasoned.

Thank God u r the only trainer who suggest rice. Rice is my daily habit of eating. But as m an Indian I don't like half cooked or soft cooked eggs. Thanks Jonna ❤️

I totally agree with you about rice. Last year I was working out in a gym and I literally do no take rice for months, but I do not sweat while working out, I feel tired after 30 mins Of cardio. But now, while in quarantine, I still take my cup of rice a day, then a cup of black coffee prior to my workout ( jump rope) and I sweat like crazy and I do not feel hungry right after workout.

Love this video. People need to learn that all non-processed food is good in moderation, and some foods work better on your digestion system/better for your palette etc. No one diet works for everyone!
