Hey, Joanna's Mom here! (Aren't I lucky?!) Everything but knives up in the dishwasher and make sure the silverware is spread out for best cleaning. About ten years ago we began having a wonderful lady come once a month to clean. She stays about four hours and is worth every penny! Even though we are empty nesters, I still teach full time. This is money well spent. We do the cleaning touch ups throughout the month.

Hi Joanna! I’ve been a SAHM for 18 years and I have not ever had outside help with the chores, etc. But, I am super fortunate that my husband has always taken care of the car stuff and most of the yard stuff - although we tend to work on the yard together. We have two kiddos and a much smaller house than you, so it hasn’t ever been too overwhelming. And the kids, once they were old enough, always helped clean up their rooms and toys. That’s not to say that there weren’t times I would’ve loved someone to come in and deep clean, though! I love and depend on to-do lists for sure! Oh, and I load the silverware with the forks and spoons facing up. 😊. Thanks for the great video! Have a great week!

I was thinking the other about how you do so much in your home to organize and clean! I know you do this for your job and obviously the camera doesn’t film everything but I’m always impressed with what you get done. I finally had to hire help just once a month for bathrooms and mopping floors. I was about at my breaking point and had to take something off my plate. Once a month isn’t often but it helps because honestly my floor doesn’t get mopped more often than that anyway 😬 I agree that moms/women feel the pressure to keep a tidy and clean house. At least that’s the way it is here. My husband seems oblivious sometimes 😅🙃

I put my silverware points down. Also, I’ve periodically had someone in to clean house for me when I was working outside of the house but now that I’m retired I don’t have that anymore. I loved to come home from work on the days they cleaned. I loved the clean scents. My husband is great help for me. I’m blessed.

Love your videos! I work 40 hours a week and do all my own cleaning and laundry. I mostly maintain the inside of the house and my husband takes care of the outside. I have 3 kids but 2 are older now and on their own so I only have 1 that lives at home that I have to run to sports, etc. I really do most of my cleaning on the weekend. It is hard ! Whether you work or are a SAHM or whatever the situation is. But we just do the best we can and know that it’s enough ❤️. Your videos definitely help to get me motivated!

I think it’s great when people have help that they need no matter what the situation! I am a SAHM to 1 daughter who is a teen now. When she was younger things felt a lot more overwhelming honestly!! The help I have received throughout all that time was/is my daughter and her dad! We work as a team and try to take the load off each other when we can. May it be home stuff, work stuff, school stuff. There’s still stressful days but we are a pretty good team of three. I have had help when she was younger from my parents and my sister too!!! That was a huge help!!! I load the silverware up because I feel like it cleans it better too lol maybe it does maybe not but that’s just my way. I like the idea of the tall handle dust pan! I might need one of those! Thank you for the cleaning motivation like always! Enjoy your day!

I'm in the uk. I'm a doctor and my husband works 9-5. We have two children. We don't have any home help. It's very unusual in the UK for people to have help, sometimes a cleaner once a week. I love watching cleaning and decluttering videos to relax. I always notice that homes in the US who have channels seem to have a lot more- more rooms, more "stuff" and they look like show homes. I think maybe that's part of why people might feel stressed keeping "a nice home"- that there's a certain aesthetic that you feel you need to maintain.

Hi Joanna, I love your videos and your honesty is refreshing. I actually work as a cleaner and have cleaned a mix of houses and offices etc. I think if you can afford help then organise it!! One lady I cleaned for worked full time and I went in every Friday to her and cleaned every room. She kept her surfaces as clear as possible and made an extra effort on a Thursday night to tidy up as much as possible each week so I could clean better and it meant she had a clean tidy house each weekend. I'm in Scotland and our houses are much smaller than yours so I appreciate a cleaner would have to work longer for you to achieve the best results! Maybe think of getting somebody to help with certain rooms or tasks you hate doing or are time consuming? Sorry for waffling on!

LOVE the way the office turned out!!! 1. My husband and I both work full time outside the home. We have a 16 yo son. Since he was born we have pretty much always had someone clean the house every couple of weeks. It was such a big help and kept us from spending our weekends cleaning. We recently took a break from it as honestly I was just tired of spending the money on it. It has been fine, we all 3 split it up on who cleans what rooms so it is not bad. Whatever anyone wants to do to make their life easier, go for it!!! 2. Silverware down. Never really thought about it till you asked, I have no idea why we have always done it that way. 🤣 3. My husband and I just got a new mattress and bed. We have been married 21 years and we just switched from a queen to a king. It was the absolute best choice!!!! We love the bigger mattress and I love the new bed we got. Totally different style and love how it changed up the room. Have a great week friend!!!

Your office turned out great! I place my silver wear with the tips up also, except for the sharp knives. I have 3 children (20, 17, 14) and have a housekeeper that comes every other Thursday and has for about 15 years. Honestly, it saves my husband and I from fighting about cleaning up, so she is worth every single penny! Our oldest is off to college, but the boys are responsible for straightening their rooms and doing dinner dishes ( and anything else I ask of them). It seems to work well for us.

I ❤️ your channel!! 😊. I always felt overwhelmed when the kids were younger with all of the things a mom and wife have to do. As the kids got older, I would get them to fold and put their clothes away, empty dishwasher, keep their own room tidy, make bed, cleain their 1/2 bath and set and clear table for meals. Helped so much!! Also got hubby to scrub floors after I vacuumed. I worked full time and very involved in music ministry at my church. I appreciated all the help they gave me!! I don't know why women feel like we have to do everything!! I put utensils in dishwasher with handle down. 😊❤️

I am 54, married and have 2 boys who are mostly independent (18 & 24). I have worked in the past, but had to stop in order to care for my mom who has passed away a year ago and now I care for my dad who is 94. He still lives independently, but needs help daily. I have someone who cleans for me every other week, who has since become my best friend so we actually clean my house together. My husband owns a bar and grill so he works every day about 12 hrs. I do everything else house wise, bills, caring for our 4 pets. I think you're right about the way men think. They're not usually wired to think about keeping a perfect house.

Another good one Joanna. I use to have a live-in helper when my kids were small. When they became teenagers, we don’t have a helper anymore and I basically do it all and as you said it is really overwhelming seeing that I also work a full time job. Some days I do breakdown and cry but at the end of the day it is so worth it to have a clean house for my family. Love how your office turned out, so warm and cozy.

I’ve decluttered a lot so it is easier to do all cleanup. The kids are expected to put away their toys - before they get something new out. Always a quick 10 mins or less clean up while I prep dinner. They also help with clearing, wiping, setting the table and sweeping and vacuuming floors, wiping down the bathroom sink, putting a load of washing on, emptying and stacking the dishwasher. They also help out with meal prep if they’re home and sometimes cook breakfast. We have foster kids too to our kids who are older also help them get their breakfast etc. if hubby isn’t busy out on the farm he pitches in as well. If I’ve had a rough day he will cook dinner out of nothing and it always tastes great. I do a load or 3 of washing a day depending on how much there is and what time I have. Put it on in the morning, hang it out and then midday or evening when I get to it I bring it all in and remake any beds (if they were wet) and separate out all the clothes and everyone puts their own clothes away.

Love your channel. We've been in lockdown for most of this year. I work from home, I have 3 kids and being home schooled till school is open has its challenges. I have 2 girls (12yrs/10yrs) and my son (7yrs). It does get hectic at times but it does it help that I get my kids involved with cleaning and eating time during the day. Obviously, they wont do the cleaning to your liking but, I do teach them to learn. My husband does go into work weekdays to the office. I'm super blessed he does help with dinner during the week after work and I get to lax out at times which helps after working and home schooling. Having the family help cleaning during the week does help come Saturday cleaning day. Every Saturday is cleaning day and everyone chips in to help lighten the load and I dont get too stressed. We see it that everyone gets involved, we can have more family time at the end of the day to do fun things. I agree there's no shame in getting help from others to come in to lighten the load. Love your vibe. Subscriber from New Zealand 😊

Hello my lady Well,,, since the pandemic started I lost my job of almost 20 years. I Never Imagined myself ever being a stay at home mom …. But here I am🤷🏾‍♀️ When I worked outside the home I had my mothers help, a cleaning company and I dropped off my laundry to a cleaning service. Life has changed DRASTICALLY FOR ME. My Mom passed Away…. I’m no longer working and covid has shut down ANY CLEANING Services coming into my home…… So now it’s just me manning the house. I LOVE having a super clean home (maybe a little too much) …. But I do it for my sanity and my family. My husband and kids think I’m CRAZY ….and I am…. But life is life and we do the best we can with whatever we have to work with.. Thanks for the broom therapy 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

I have never had any help. I work full time and have always taken care of the house, shopping, running kids where they needed to be etc. My husbands job did not allow him to be available much. When my kids were younger I was always behind. I did at least a load of laundry everyday and cleaned what I could whenever I had a moment. Once they got older it was a little easier because I could straighten up a bit in the morning while they were finishing getting ready for school. When my kids got into high school I made them start doing their own laundry. It was one less thing for me to do and it was teaching them a life skill that they will need to have along with cleaning their own rooms. I still did a deep clean every once in a while, but they could do a weekly clean. I also gave them the task of cleaning their bathroom, mainly keeping toilet and sink clean. I would do the shower because I am too picky on that. Now I have switched to certain tasks on certain days of the week (I should have done this way sooner). One day is laundry, one is for windows and mirrors, one is vacuuming and mopping, another is dusting. I can get most of this done in the morning before I leave for work, so that when I get home I only have to worry about dinner. It will get better for you I promise!

I work full time outside the house. My husband also works full time but he is a corporate consultant (he guides business through and out of their business struggles) and his hours are flexible. Bless his heart, he does the laundry and 90% of the daily house work while I’m at work and the kids are at school). He grocery shops and has dinner ready when we get home. (I take the kids to and from school.) He is also a trained chef, his first career, so he’d rather shop and cook because he’s better than me. He’s the best dad and husband. To others it can seem unbalanced but for us it works. No one is forced to do anything. We both do what works for the better of our family and we communicate with each other. I do the weekly/monthly/yearly DEEP cleaning but him keeping up with the daily house work really helps.

When I was a SAHM I did everything and sometimes my husband would help. Then I went back to school full time and had clinicals so things changed. We all cleaned on the weekends including the kids. My husband would clean the floors and cook during the week. He started to like cooking and would look up meals to make. Now that I’m done with school, we still keep with the same cleaning schedule. I hardly cook anymore 😂. I’m a bit OCD so sometimes I will go over it but I also had to learn to let it go. My husband always puts the utensils down in the dishwasher but I will do the opposite because they really don’t get cleaned very well I noticed. Love the office 😍, you should keep it that way.

Typically, I have someone come in the morning to make sure my kids eat breakfast, make sure my teenager gets out of bed and do school drop offs. My husband works full time and he helps with anything I ask him to help with. The kids are getting older so they are getting more independent. My 2 older grandkids moved out because they over 18 but they were alot of help. My adult children will give us a break one weekend out of the month and take kids for our break. Love having a new video 😊 I had someone clean my house twice while I was teaching (I am retired now) and I couldn’t stand the idea of someone cleaning my house 😀 so I have done it myself from then on. It gets overwhelming some days but I do what I can and let the rest be until the next day. I also have my silverware face if upward. I feel it cleans it better. Have a blessed week. Love your videos. Love from Indiana

I love your videos! I work full time and am doing the majority of household chores. My daughter turned 9 this year so I think it is time that I can have her start with vacuuming or sweeping flooring. She has to put her clothes away. If I could have additional help it would definitely be with laundry. It is never ending!

When I was a SAHM I did not have help. Now that I am working, I still do most of the house work and the yard work. My hubby will help when asked, but he just doesn’t “get” the pressure that moms feel to do it all. It’s kind of like what you said. But my husband and I are a team, we each have our jobs. I told him as long as he kills the spiders, I’ll do everything else! Lol

When hubby and I married 30 years ago I told him women's lib only goes so far in this house...I don't do lawns, I don't use power tools, I don't snow blow. But I cook and you can stay out of the kitchen. And I didn't object when he insisted mopping was too heavy work for me:0)

My husband used to put the silverware in with the tines pointing up, too. Once I explained that he’s then got to grab them by the tines to put them away, he decided to start putting them tines/blades/spoon side down like I do. I don’t have help. Not with homekeeping, anyway. My husband has cooccurring chronic illnesses that have kept him mostly in inpatient care or in bed bed for the last few years. Occasionally my in laws will come get my youngest two kids for a couple hours so I can stare into the middle distance or get caught up on stuff but other than that, I function like a single momma of 2 grade schoolers & an older teen.

Hi Joanna! Love your videos 😊 I just wanted to say that I help a friend who is a momma of 2 (who works full time and so does her hubby)! I clean their house once every 2 weeks and I spend half a day there! Which doesn’t seem like much for only every two weeks, but she says it has absolutely changed her life as a momma having the extra help with the monotonous constant cleaning that has to be done around the house. I do a deep clean of the whole house and then do extras such as folding laundry, changing sheets, and organizing play spaces. Having help, even just a little, can be so beneficial for families. EVERYONE can use help in their lives in some areas! (Hope this was a little helpful) 😁 You’re doing great!!! 💝

Lol When I had my 4th baby my push present was a summer of cleaners coming every two weeks so I could really enjoy the kids and new baby. It was the best present ever and really made life so much easier! Every Mom should have that after they have a baby! Lol Great video!

I put the silverware in pointing down so it's easier to grab them by the handle when emptying it. I've never not had the dishwasher get them completely clean... I think if you don't rinse well it could maybe make a difference but I'm the type to almost completely wash my dishes before I load them in the dishwasher so I never have anything not come out super clean lol.

Great video! I enjoyed it and it gives me motivation to start cleaning after I come home from work. I'm married and have 2 small boys (8 and 5 years old) and my husband and I both work fulltime out house so we devide the household chores between the 2 of us. I couldn't do it all on my own when I was also working a fulltime job. The evenings are too short for that so yeah. I'm very grateful that we split the work. And if things do get overwhelmed, I now don't hesitate to ask my parents-in-law or a friend to help a day. Something I learned after the difficult year we had this year. And in general, people close to you do help if you just ask.

Super excited for the video and for the help thing I have zero help.. my friends would used to joke around and say I was a single married mom and it ticked me off so bad because I am a married women and now I seriously understand where they were coming from because i do everything for our home and children even though there is another biological parent in the house.. so 6 out of 7 days I feel overwhelmed.. but I also do not work like my husband does to provide so I guess I don’t have a right to feel that way sometimes.. so I just do it all and hope one day I will catch up!

My husband and I both went out to work, we have three boys who were always expected to do their own rooms. We had a cleaning lady who came in for three hours a week and it was great, I always said I would rather go to work and pay a cleaner than stay at home and do it myself! She only did the basics, we still did the laundry and garden work. When all our boys left home and my husband retired we decided that he would take over the housework and I would continue going to work.

Declutter I usually start in the kitchen if I have to much of plastic ware or glasses or crockery I will wrap and store them in a big Plastic container . Limited items I prefer limited items in my kitchen at all times it works well and less to wash up this will help alot . Clothing Perhaps go through items you no longer need donate to charity and anything you are unsure about maybe push to one side in your wardrobe until you think of what you may do with them . Dresser draws Look throught the draws of your dresser do the same clear it out . Linen cupboard Less sheets Less towels And other bedding Less items to wash If you have alot of that then store it . Only bring it out to replace what's getting old etc ... Make a list of things you believe you can handle within the day .. There is always another day for something else .. DISHWASHER I don't have one in home I do it all by hand ☺️

Joanna, I so look forward to your uploads. I feel like I am talking to a friend. I don't have help and never did. My husband traveled during the week so he was never around. I also think most men don't see dirt-they see clutter maybe. Mine never noticed the crumbs on the floor or counter but complained about the toys on the floor. The few times I got help (like after my c-sections and stomach surgery), I hated the way they cleaned. I felt like if I paid someone then they should do it better than me or at least as good. I guess I am a control freak and also obsessive when it comes to cleaning. Then when I married a second time, he had someone come in. The real problem is not the cleaning but the picking up. And since a cleaning service doesn't pick and put stuff away, we would spend all day before they came so they could clean. Vacuuming and dusting don't take as long as picking up. And while it was nice to walk into a clean house, it frustrated me to see the house not as clean as I would make it. Love your channel!

I'd like to give credit to my kids for being able to do other chores. I am a full time mom of two and at the same time I work from home. We have decided on scheduling bigger chores like laundry, general cleaning and all that..The rest, I do them in between handling my classes which can be pretty overwhelming..I come from a country where it is common to have a helper, but I don't have one since I want my kids to learn how to navigate with chores around the house. Sending love from Cebu City Philippines :)

I am the same way! Running the household is basically all on me, but my husband totally helps when I ask. However, I definitely can quickly feel overwhelmed by it all and then I get cranky!! I do have a teenager to chip in, but like most teens, she is not thrilled to have to help (but still does). And like you, I do prefer to do it myself so I can be sure it is done the way I like and as thoroughly as I want it done. What I would like help with is cooking!! And cleaning up after! I can and do, but man it would be nice to not have to do that!! 😆

hi joanna. first let me say i just love you and your videos. you remind me of myself at your age. (63 now). please don't take what i'm going to say as critizing how you are raising your kids. it's just some advice. ( take it or leave it) it is all up to what you are comfortable with. as my kids reached 5 yrs of age i made them start putting what ever they were doing away as soon as they finished. made them pick up all thier toys, shoes, clothes, etc every night before going to bed. now, they won't put it away like momma would do but, thats ok because they will be helping you out. you surely need it. now, i picked my cleaning day to be saturdays. but if they had cheer leading or little league i would do it sunday or monday. the rest of the week i just straightened up, made the beds so the rest of the week was mine to do as i wanted. i would do a good clean on thier rooms once a month. what you are doing may be the way you want to do things and thats great. just some friendly advice. i just love you and your family. watching you gives me great joy. but, you look so tired sometimes. i feel sorry for you. oh, i put sharpe knives pointing down and everything else pointing up. lol when my kids were younger (37 & 40 now) along with them doing thier activities i helped hubby run our own landscaping business, worked concession stand during little league, volentered in the schools, helped teachers grade papers at night and took care of the meals, laundry, and house. there were days i thought i was going to loose my mind. lol hang in there, you will figure it out.

He does all of the lawn/pool/car maintenance.. etc. and I pretty much with the help of my 3 kids do all of the inside of the house work. Have you thought about a big island in the middle of your office? 3 of the 4 sides could be drawers for storage. If you wanted to you could have electricity going to it so you could have you cricut plugged into the side when needed and put it back under in one of the drawers or cabinets in the island. One of the sides could be your desk/sitting area

I just had surgery 14th & when I tell my husband what cleaning to dos I have on my schedule, he looks at me like I'm crazy. He had no idea how regularly I have to wash doors, the furniture, windows, the banister, baseboards, etc. The stuff people don't think about as much. I'm working really hard to unclench. It's not all necessary.

You are incredibly lucky to have Mark. And I completely understand the control thing. Sometimes it's just easier for us to take care of things. 🤷‍♀️ Silverware up in the dishwasher! Your new office layout looks great! One thing I would add for practicality would be to put the cricut cart by the new table so all the cricut stuff is together. Like create a cricut "zone" and an editing "zone". Unless you need the printer by the computer? Can the printer be wireless on the other side of the room or does it need to be connected to the computer?
