A lot of people don’t know who Joe Diffie was in 2020. I’ve been a life long fan. This is my favorite song by him. It payed when I was about to ride my first bull. It played in my tractor while I mowed my field. This guy was a country legend and I hope his family reads this. He was there on my radio through a lot in my life. A pretty girl next to me who is now my wife, a dog in the back seat, and Joe Diffie on the radio.... those where the days.

If there’s any song by Joe Diffie people know it’s “Pickup man”. I went to Alan Jackson’s tornado benefit concert last Saturday and Jered Ames who plays at Alan’s bar was there. He played “Pickup man” and I said “Pickup man”? If you ask me why not “Honky tonk attitude”?

This is my favorite song of Joe's. For those of you that didn't know this some people in Country Music fell into the business (right place at the right time). Joe had to work very hard to make it in the music business and I'm glad he did get his chance. If not we would have never heard his voice or all of the wonderful songs he recorded. My friend Rob "Barry" Feutz was not so lucky. He put in the hard work and had a truck load of talent. Timing and luck are everything in the music business. Rob had the talent but not the luck. RIP Rob "Barry" Feutz and Joe Diffie.

I can't believe he's gone. My husband and I were on the Country Music Cruise last year and Diffie was there. He was so nice! He sat and jammed bluegrass style with us one night when he could have just stayed away from everyone! I came straight home and ordered a "Billy Bob Loves Charlene" T-shirt, I was already a fan, but his actions just sealed the deal for me: coolest country singer ever! Such a nice guy! My prayers go out to his wife and family! 🙏 Everyone needs to take this virus seriously!

I have an interesting story about Joe Diffie. About 20 years ago, while I was in high school, I saw him in concert at Dollywood. As we were leaving Dollywood that night, we stopped at Taco Bell, and his bus was parked outside. There is no way Joe Diffie is in Taco Bell. I walked in and turned around and walked out. My parents were like what? I said Joe Diffie is inside. The guy we just saw in concert? Absolutely. We walked in and he had a 20 minute conversation with me inside Taco Bell. He didn't have to talk to an idiot 16 year old kid, but he did. I actually had him sign a CD I just got from the concert. I wish I knew where it was. It was the coolest thing and something I will never forget, ever. It sucks this crap took him away from us far far to soon. He was a cool down to earth guy. Even though I only met him that one time, from that point on, I called him friend. RIP, my friend.
