I remember being about 12, and my mother was an old country, bitter, old-fashioned, spinsterish woman (which was hard on my father...), looked many years older than her age, and never sang the praises of any Hollywood actors or celebrities. Well, she was sitting at our black and white TV on the TV stand in the living room, mending and watching the Channel 7 News. - Suddenly, she called me: "Quick! Come here! Come here!" So, I came running and my mother pointed to the screen and there was Joe Namath - young, coming off a plane, news people etc., swirling all around: a young guy- 1960's then. So Mother, she turns to me and instructs me: "Look at him. Look at him and learn! Now THAT is a real man. A REAL man!" You never know, huh?

Willie Nelson has a song with the lyrics "At 2 I went home with a 10 and at 10 I woke up with a 2". If Joe hasn't heard it he should look for it.

As a kid, I was a huge Joe Namath fan. So one day my mom came home from a used books store with a copy of Joe's Book, _I Can't Wait Till Tomorrow 'Cause I Get Better Looking Every Day_ -- which she gave me as a birthday present. I started reading it immediately. But unbeknownst to my mom, a lot of the book talked about Joe's sexual exploits, which she finally learned about when I asked her, "Hey mom, what's a ménage à trois?" She gasped, "What!?" She then glanced at the page I was referring to, slammed the book shut, and I never saw it again.

@@clydeb7713 yup.. I saw something.. that was more recent and he definitely looked older.. boozing will do that ...it will age people... he would have looked younger if he hadn't become an alcoholic that's for sure ( also people who become addicted to opiates will age very quickly too). Yeah I think there were a real lot of guys that wanted to be him.. young and old alike . He certainly did live the life some could only dream of

His daughter got pregnant when she was 16 then busted for selling weed.
@gardensofthegods
@gardensofthegods 6 жыл бұрын
@@usaisacountryofmajorpsyops3785 what Joe Namath's daughter did as a teenager doesn't have anything to do with him though , not really... there are people who have been raised by ministers who still do whatever they want and end up in prison... and what is worse : getting pregnant at 16 or getting pregnant at 16 and having an ABORTION.. since you are talking about morals I assume...? Some of those squeaky clean girls .especially the ones that come from money and better neighborhoods , believe me , the majority of them get abortions if they get pregnant when it's inconvenient... it's harder to keep a baby when you're that young and I give that girl all the CREDIT in the world for knowing that she was a doorway for a human being to come into this world. I'm not trying to give a lecture on abortion pros and cons but it's a lot easier , I'm sure , to get an abortion then to be a parent at that age . And selling weed... who knows what the story is behind that.. there's nothing wrong with a little bit of weed and science has proven that it has medicinal qualities going back thousands of years ...and my neighbor who has lupus and is in her late seventies takes CBD oil and other people who have autistic kids take CBD oil as well as others who use it for arthritis and post-traumatic stress disorder. We don't know if she really sold the weed or if it was entrapment... she could have had some pain in the butt keep bugging her for her weed and to deter them she probably told them they have to pay for it and like I said it could have been entrapment and she could have been set up . Sounds like you need to lighten up a little bit and not be such a harsh judge of others because if you think weed and being pregnant at 16 is bad you need to really look at some really horrible people

I knew Joe when he was in Tuscaloosa. He was very nice person. He was not out going and I think he felt like an outsider a lot of the time. Joe spent time in Birmingham with Mike Bite. He may have dated around in Tuscaloosa but he dated a girl in Birmingham for a while. When Joe left for New York he cut ties with most people in Alabama except Bryant and a few people like Bite. He wasn't nearly the playboy that he is reputed to be.

It’s sad he sustained what turned out to be basically a career ending knee injury and played in the era when QB’s had basically no protection rule wise...Because if he played today he most likely would have had a very long, multi Super Bowl career. The good thing is I have no doubt that Joe could pick up any woman in the galaxy, that career is still going strong haha. The reason he could bang “20 footers” is there was no social media so you wouldn’t get caught... hahaha
