There are a lot of internal inconsistencies within politics of people like him, and that means that those ideas don't ring true. One major example is him saying that masculinity is a way broader concept than what is commonly culturally imposed on us, and on the other hand stating that trans people need hormones to be the gender that they believe themselves to be. A way better way of doing things is to teach people to accept who they naturally are rather than trying to fit a predefined imposed set of standards that they can't evenn hope to meet.

Charlie Milroy agreed. That is what I don’t understand about this movement. They claim that male and female is a social construct. Who we are as male and female is derived from thousands of years of experiences and history. These characteristics were never forced on us by anyone. But for someone who feels they are the gender they were not born as, they say they need to take hormones to be more of the “social construct “. They strongly contradict each other. If there is no male or female then whatever reproductive organs shouldn’t matter. Why can’t you be more male or female without changing your chemistry? I mean it’s just a social construct? Right?? @shortafroman45 жыл бұрын
Water is not wet. Wet is a status that is relative: when a substance or surface is surrounded/encompassed with a liquid. Water itself is a liquid, and thus the *body* of water is the substance. If utilizing the actual concept of "wet," you could say something like "I put oil on the water, so it is now wet (because the oil is the liquid added to make the primary substance "wet" ) or vice versa." But you can't say water is wet by trying to separate one singular H2O from the rest of it. By that bar, steel is "wet." The other angle is liquid vs solid. Inwhich case, H20 is a liquid, and in that state it is not wet. Added an ice cube? The ice is wet, the water is just water.

Yeah because they are humans and humans are pretty much wired to trust parental units and by extension other adults. So when adults have always told you or by majority at least, the truth, then they tell you something that you have absolutely no experiential context to contradict, you will literally invent 'logic' to support and incorporate that information into your world view. So yeah they dont 'understand' it but if you lead them enough they will pretend they do until that pretense seems like fact to them.
@sethedward4 жыл бұрын
Adam needed to do some research on Joe rogan. Joe knows when he has something undeniable. No matter how many times you address the situation, or how many angles you come at it. Joe wont let it go and he wont let you win, he is perfectly fine repeating it and stirring the pot again and again. its logic at the expense of emotion, at the expense of understanding anyones feelings or motives, and I f-cking love it. I really enjoyed this comment and it describes him perfectly. I'm always pretty open minded but after him endorsing injecting young children with hormones I tapped out. I can't take anything else seriously after that. If we're going to allow a 7 year old to make life decisions then we should allow them to get Pokemon tattoos and also vote. If I had been allowed to make life decisions at 7 I'd have every dinosaur tat you could imagine. Wouldn't go over well at my desk job.

As someone who is actually qualified to speak about anthropology, I'd like to talk about the concept of "Alpha Males". In some regards, he's right, the general concept of the "Alpha" and "Beta" male is an internetism, at least in the way that the internet uses it. But I haven't got a clue what anthropologist told him that humans don't organise themselves along those lines. The main difference is we used to call them "Chieftains" or "Royalty". Back when we were still rolling around as Homo Erectus and early Homo Sapiens and Homo Neanderthalensis, we did exactly what wolves do, and fought for positions of power based on physical might. Nowadays the routes to power are a little more subtle, presidencies, congresses, etc. However, I think he's taking it far too literally, and that's probably why the poor anthropologists he spoke to were confused and gave a weird answer. The concept that some people are more socially dominant and project themselves more in a room is absolutely true, and can be observed in any pub. Others are more socially submissive. The internet has taken to calling these Alpha and Beta. If you've read this far, you've already learned more than a single one of this guy's vids

Wolves don't do that. Ths scientists who performed the study has retracted it. It's untrue.
@DDogg437774 жыл бұрын
AlertedCoyote "We did exactly what wolves did" The alpha wolf concept is a myth. As someone who is "qualified to speak about anthropology", surely you knew this. So perhaps I'm misinterpreting your comment, but it comes off like that is the supporting evidence... The concept of "social dominance and submitting" is different than claiming something is alpha or beta, and that we operate on such a structure. The latter refers to a pretty specific type of hierarchical structure, while the former relates to behavior. Thus, simply finding people as more physically or socially dominant, and/or finding some effect on the fitness of those people in respect to others, only provides evidence to the effects of that behavior -- it is a far cry from claiming we have organized ourselves in that hierarchical structure; let alone claiming that structure exists today (finding an example of a salmon being larger and able to defend better against predators does NOT give good credence to the salmon species organizing themselves in an "alpha v beta structure"). And to go off on a tangent, it is an even further cry away from making the prescriptive claim that we should organize ourselves into this sort of structure.
