During the prime of PRIDE, even UFC couldn't fuck with PRIDE. This is equivalent to if UFC were to go bankrupt while Bellator becomes bigger and popular that all accomplishments in UFC done by Chuck Liddell, Jose Aldo, Anderson Silva, Rousey, GSP all turn to menial accomplishments not worth remembering.

+Andre Rocha It's why I agree with this comment because true MMA fan who witnessed the prime time of Fedor and saw the dominance of PRIDE and Fedor, along with Cro Cop will be the only ones who will know how great they were, not just MMA fans who only know or care about UFC. I've watched lot of past MMA events such as PRIDE, WEC, Strikeforce, UFC, even defunct competitions such as Elite XC. No one is going to stay invincible forever unless they fight like cowards such as Mayweather who gets to choose who he wants to fight, unlike UFC where you are forced to fight the next biggest contender no matter who it is. If UFC went out of business and Bellator took over, you think it's fair for me to say Rousey, Lidell, Aldo, Silva, GSP were just all competing in weak competitions and didn't have what it takes to compete at Bellator? Top Class That's why I said most but not all. A lot of his opponents were pit fighters. Meaning guys who were just getting into fighting for the a pay day to never fight again. I just never liked Fedor's management team. There were so many great "all around fighters" that he could have faced. Instead they kept him in Heavyweight division where he would have a speed advantage in a class with the weakest cast. He was only 18 or less pounds away from the next division down too. They are still putting him against weak fighters to this day. I don't understand it.

What I love most about this guy is the fact that nobody ever talks about him and how small for a heavy he actually is. I know the conversation is not unheard of but its not talked about it enough. Even if he loses to Henderson he remains to be a true Champion and its all about what Joe said and how this guy is a TRUE Champion, A Savage in the way he fights and I applaud all the other fighters out there that fight like Champions!

Two things about Fedor that aren't recognised enough 1) He beat the best at their own game. Out grappled Minotauro, out struck Cro Cop 2) Beat numerous K1 and UFC champs in their prime on the juice Whilst the sport has evolved and perhaps Stipe would have beaten him, Fedor is the first true monster at HW despite his size making him a modern day middleweight. You are absolutely right. He was in Pride when Pride had 80+% of the best heavy's out there. He was one of those fighters that when he was in his prime you would see greatness nearly every time. He made the right choice going to Strikeforce as he would have not enjoyed the UFC circus when you are at his level. He never juiced & was a class act, with no interest in smack talk. And he just got old, lost to a monster in Bigfoot & a dirty roider in Henderson. A sad end to the best I have ever seen.

I agree with you 100% man. I mean these guys don't really compare to Fedor but I would love to see Junior dos Santos improve. He trained under Nogueira and so far most people haave seen almost exclusively just his boxing with the exception of his most recent fight. Also excited to see how Jacare will fare against Anderson Silva. IMO Jacare has a pertty good chance to take on Silva. No one has as dominating BJJ as Jacare does at this point in time.

While I agree with you, the only major advantage the current UFC fighters have over Fedor in the octagon cage are amazing wrestlers. The UFC cage gives wrestlers a bit of an advantage compared to the boxing ring set up back in Pride FC. There aren't that many HW imo right now that can beat prime Fedor. JDS and Overeem are like the most dominating HW I can think of and IMO maybe Overeem might be the only one; but he doesn't like getting hit and Fedor throws some nasty hits.

Agree 100%. The heavyweights in Pride was VERY scary. Right now, HONESTLY, the main HW I see as the best in the UFC is Overeem and JDS. I mean Cain Velasquez.. I'm not buying it; he works hard and deserves credit but he's not top tier HW. The sad part about Fedor losing to Bigfoot is that Bigfoot isn't that good. The HW in Pride was so much better compared to UFC. The octagon cage gives a lot of wrestling advantage and Fedor has been banged up consecutively.

JDS is an agressive boxer with heavy hands... He is good on his game plan and stuff... but thats it... Once someone finds a strong strategy to beat him he will get fucked up. You know brazilian fighters have that problem, they are very good... But many times they are one dimensioned, they are not dinamic enough to handle a different situation. Yes, UFC and MMA in general nowadays is really geared towards wrestling. Any great wrestler can cancel out a well-rounded fighter which is very frustrating. But I agree. Never count out Fedor, sorry if I seemed like I was hugging the UFC's nuts, it just seems like people are becoming a bit desensitized to the talent the UFC holds. Well I don't think Jones stands a chance. The most success against Bones Jones so far is that blitz karate Lyoto did and the submission Jones almost lost to. Fedor excels at both these aspects; even ground and pound. Sure, Bones' elbows and knees will hurt but I see Fedor coming out on top in that fight.

Longevity in his career has been diminished probably due to the fact that Fedor just took hits like a champ. After the type of career he's had, it doesn't matter how he goes; he will be remembered as the best. Ray Lewis is considered one of the best of all time and his ending career performance wasn't great. At least he won a ring though. Just goes to show people age differently and may not be the same even in his 30s.

the two conflicting opinions on fedor are these. He's a can crusher vs He is the Greatest Of All Time. Both views demonstrate just how immature the media and alot of fans are. Particularly their reluctance to judge a man over the span of his entire career objectively. Why can't a bloke just be objective and admit that he has fought world class opposition as well as a bunch of potato sacks(true) and probably never signed with the ufc because Dana couldn't agree to what Fedor and his agent were asking for? Hendo took ages for the same reason. -Can he run through Jon Jones, Velasques, Werdum and Dos Santos? Or even Ben Rothwell? questionable at best. -Did he fight more than one or two cans? Yes he did. -Is he completely unproven against any real opposition? No, not at all. Nogueira 3 times (unbeaten in 3 against him) Randleman (former UFC heavyweight champ) Crop Cop (PRIDE grand prix & K1 champ) Arlovski (former UFC champion) Sylvia (former UFC champion, although I don't rate him in the same class as the mentioned above) Mark Coleman (twice, former UFC champ) You just can't shit on those achievements man.. you can't. Josh Barnett is another one of the Greatest of all time and even he's lost to several on that list. Sylvia and Randleman are the the only dubious picks in regards to being considered world class opposition. Nogueira, Cro Cop and Arlovski are legendary greats and there are many more opponents like Arona and Sobral that are worthy of mention. I agree that the ability required to be competitive in the upper tier of today's MMA world is on a completely different level today. There are so many ridiculously well rounded fighters that are toppling legends and pioneers on a regular basis. The sport has evolved tremendously and I don't immediately assume that Fedor is in the top 5 let alone top 10 heavyweights in the world. That being said, he isn't a phoney like Chael and thousands of others claim. He's a legend that deserves his place in MMA history as one of the greatest of his generation. He was the first guy that people saw who had, explosive hand speed with one punch knockout power. Dangerous on top and off his back equally. Not to mention the heart to come back from the jaws of defeat in stupendous fashion. We would all love for him to have a run in the UFC before he deteriorates any further, but let's face it.. It's probably never gonna happen.
