The Staircase thing wasn't that an Owl flew into the house and scared her, it was that it attacked her when she was outside. She went inside bleeding and lost consciousness or went into shock going up the stairs. There were what looked like talon marks on her scalp. There were also feathers in her hair & nails. Plenty of people have been attacked by Owls

They have 2 separate stomachs. One collects the meat & nutrients and the other collects bone & fur. It’s called a pellet & they spit it out. We dissected owl pellets in a environmental science club. A lot of the pellets had more than 1 mouse too. It was pretty cool to learn about.

@mic7able
@mic7able 5 жыл бұрын
Ghastly_Grinner I think it's the other way around. They became symbols of Athena BECAUSE they were considered 'wise'. This wisdom is pure aesthetic anthropomorphism. They're just as suited to their environment as most other animals; they simply appear 'knowing' and calmly reflective. Good reference though.

We have two owls that chill out on our street sign at night, one swoops down and flips the cane toads on its back so it's underbelly is exposed while the other one guts it and pecks out its insides within seconds, then they alternate. They're smart enough to figure out that the poison glands of the canetoad are on their backs so the flip them and eat the "good bits" they are badass.

We have resident screech owls in my neighborhood, and they're really cool, everytime I go outside in the evening, they always are very curious about me and will come and chill in a tree right by me and trill or just watch me. This happened in the the Mountains where I camp every year as well, I had the same experience every night at the campfire, this barred owl would just chill in trees next to me and just watch most of the night..Im a biologist and I just feel that owls are very curious, and I've really taken a liking to them after having a few experience's with them. They're not as scary as people make them out to be, they are actually pretty cool and of course they're needed to keep rodent populations in check. Btw, love the podcast's, especially the animal ones, that's right down my alley..

I was with a friend and hit the Owl with the car one night in 1999 that was on a kill. I turned it into the Department of Natural Resources in Michigan for inspection as they're protected animals it took them nine months to inspect the owl and determine that it really was hit it by the car. They gave it back to us, took it to a taxidermist had it stuffed and gave it to my friend's mom who is an owl fanatic. The mount is still in her living room to this day. They are Giant birds of Prey. It's amazing when you see the size of a full grown owl in person face-to-face with a 5 1/2 foot wingspan. Amazing, intriguing birds.

Owls are considered wise because of their tenacity to hunt. Which in the sense they are the perfect hunter.

I was trapped in a laundromat by an owl as a teenager. It was really really weird, we weren't that afraid, but we also weren't stepping one foot out the door with that demon bird setting in the doorway.

When I was like 4 years old my dad found a baby barn owl at the bottom of a hanger door on the AFB he was stationed at. He brought it home and a spare bathroom was converted into its "bedroom" my parents would go out in the desert at night and catch kangaroo rats to drop in the tub where the owl(Barney) would swoop down and catch them. My mom has pictures of me holding it where it had grown to be almost as big as me. We eventually had to move cross country and in the weeks leading up it was taken out to the wild and released. It was seen returning to my house multiple times before we left. To this day whenever I hear an owl I like to think its him even I'm sure it's not. This was 25 years ago after all on the opposite side of the country

When I was younger I did overnight security at construction sites, warehouses, airports, etc. Great horned owls were a nightly sight. They're not dangerous to people. They weigh as much as a cat and they don't care about people so I'm skeptical about the owl attack alibi.

@Tmoney 1823 it's on Netflix, a documentary series about a man who was accused of the murder of his wife, called The Staircase. It's really gruesome. Later, a theory came out that she was attacked by an owl, not the husband.

At least owls get rid of all the vermin ect. They're certainly good for something. **Except innocent rabbits** well, Ok the ones that get in your garden, they are not innocent, so they need to go.
