Joe Bonamassa is one of the greatest under celebrated guitar players of all times. I can’t believe he’s not a household name because, he’s simply the best blues player on the planet today. This man refused the easy route by refusing to drop the blues for mainstream pop. What makes him great is, he doesn’t have to answer to label or investors because he owns his label therefore allowing him to play what he loves, the blues.

I have been a lead guitar player since the mid 60's and have always played with emotion and melody and not if I could play as fast or as loud as the next guy. I only learned about Joe in the past 6 months and this man inspires me greatly. This intro and solo brings me to tears. The feeling he shows and I hear is simply beautiful. I haven't loved a blues guitarist/singer like this since Johnny Winter. Watching his videos on here has taught me some amazing style and technique. I just discovered Joe a few weeks ago and so glad I did, can’t stop listening to his music particularly this song. I bought a used SUV a few weeks back and the previous owner forgot one of Joes CDs in the CD player. Can’t understand how I’ve never heard his music. So talented and gifted!

There’s no more that can be said about Joe’s gift… As of now probably the hardest working bluesmen on earth. All the accolades are truly deserved. When Joe gets on stage with other guitarists and different bands he’s able to display his talents and generosity which usually leads to mind blowing performances. I’m a proud listener and lover of the blues since a young boy when I was introduced to music and talents like BB King, Jimi, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins and Eric Clapton to start and when I was introduced to Led Zeppelin and their first album and heard a superbly produced blues album with songs like I Can’t Quit You Babe and You Shook Me I was off to the stereo. Growing older it was important to have the proper equipment to enjoy and explore my love of music, playing music on my first generation Yamaha / Mitsubishi stereo I was always interested in and exploring the blues rock of the time. I saw a clip on the evening news living in Connecticut and it was a 9 year old Joey Bones winner of a blues guitar competition in NJ… I was blown away. Stevie Rays career was starting out and I was lucky enough to see him in New Haven a bit later on opening for Robert Plant on his first solo tour after Bonham’s death and the bar was set on that night for me. Meanwhile Joes career was off and he was playing a number of shows in the Tri-State area and I made it to see him at a bar / concert hall in New Haven called Toads Place and that night I was treated to the same mind blowing experience as when I saw Stevie Ray… I followed Joe from that point and turned on friends to his talents and always felt like I discovered him and introduced Joe’s music into my circle. I’ve met Joe twice before shows in Worcester, MA at the Palladium and a concert in Hartford… got pictures, autographs and a shout out “to my new friend Brett” he asked for a wave.. I feel like all the guys I grew up listening to were already legends and now here comes “my guy”… Joe has exceeded all expectations in the industry to become a top 10 all-timer in my book. That’s saying a lot… because the other 9 guys on my list are the same guys that introduced and influenced Joe to become what he is today. Joe’s coming to Massachusetts later this year and I’m hoping to be well enough to go see him and introduce him to the younger generation in my family in an effort to spread the word that Joe is definitely one of the world’s greatest players and amazingly enough he just keeps getting better…❤

Brett, that was a wonderful comment. Enjoyed your reminiscences! I definitely remember when I first heard Joe and his band. It wasn’t nearly as exciting as your story, because it was simply here on KZbin a few years back, "Bird on a Wire" at the Beacon Theatre. But it made a huge difference in my life. I absolutely loved it. And I still do. I’ve seen Joe, with Reese and the others, live in concert once. I’m not schooled in blues or rock or even pop music, but I just pick out what I like….and I like Joe!❤

Aug 2023. Im 68 now just an ol hippie. My favorite rock band LED ZEPPELIN. Got to see BB King 7 or 9 times but i REMEBER Joe as the young boy he brought on stage. Later years in conversation with a few of his bandmembers at a party they told me all about Joe what he was doin now how he would be big. I finally got to see him live but didnt know it was him until my friend said hey its Joe! My lord the talent. I didnt get to stay for full concert my friend had an emergency so we had to leave but man what those 3 songs we heard mindblowing. They dont make em like that. I also got to see Stevie Ray Vaugn in Austins dive bar called the Roma Room. Literally ONE dangling lightbulb on a black cord hung over the ahem-dance floor. Many talented artists came out of that little hole lol. Stevie came to the afterparty and played there too-winter by the fireplace. That man didnt stop for three hours! After 2 gigs that nite. He never once took a break. Our host was pissed when back room turned on current dance music blasted it which ended Stevie playing. Host kicked errbody out cept us core group who had stayed not moving for the 3 hours-then all of us ran to the bathrooms lol. Never forget that never. 🙏🏻❤️🧐

We drove through an epic rain and hail storm to get to Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO last night. Then a 2 hour lightning and rain delay. Joe gave a special thanks to all of us who hung in there, and then proceeded to make the evening a memorable one with his new album, Time Clocks. But what made it special for me was that he wrapped up the evening with this song. Always brings tears to my eyes, but WTF! We were all soaked down to our underware anyway. You rock, Joe! As a guitar player myself, I can tell that Joe is a great communicator. He is as good as communicating with his mouth as with his guitar. The notes and melodies he plays are beautiful proses and verses of poetry and sounds mixed all together. I am not anywhere near him, but I know what a well distorted, softly played note means and aims to deliver. Well done Joe!

Dear Alan, I read your words several times this evening, as they are so deeply moving. I hope your brother Chris sees your message and realizes how much you love him. Having had two brothers myself (I am the sister), I saw firsthand the deep bond that develops between two loving brothers. Your spirit is created in the image of our loving Creator, in the image of God. He loves you and will help to protect you. Ask for help from those who love you and/or from those who care…maybe a doctor, a clinic, or whatever services your area provides. Please don’t feel ashamed, as we are all a reflection of the loving Spirit of God. Love will help to hold you up when you have lost your way. Reach out and touch it. You have my best wishes for a full recovery and future reconciliation with your brother. You may have to prove yourself at first, but good things come to those who persevere. And with the loving touch of our Creator, all things are possible. Be patient with your helpers, with your brother, and most of all with yourself. ❤ You are worth it. Please write again to tell us how you are doing. In the meantime listen to Joe’s music every chance you get. It will help to lift your spirits . ❤
