I'm a Tyler supporter but be took from Pharrell, Quincy Jones and Charlie Wilson. He uses there bridges, chords, melodies, cadence and song structure but that's what I like from him. He also isn't cos playing as them he's really trying to add to that and introduce it to a new generation but he can't act like what he's doing is so original

Tyler doesn't sound like the grumpy old rapper... Tyler isn't saying anything DIFFERENT than he used to; he's just saying it DIFFERENTLY. He's always spoken about being yourself, and not falling into what the masses want you to do. That doesn't mean you CAN'T sound like someone else, as long as you're still being YOU. You can't even tell some of these so-called rappers apart, these days, because they're literally just copying each other. He's simply pointing out that a lot of artists now are sounding like each other because they see that particular wave as the only way to be relevant, and it's ruining music, period...

Tyler said exactly what I've been saying for YEARS now, most rappers are no longer unique, every sounds the same, and not only do they sound the same down to even using the same lingo, they even look the same, and that's men and women, literally everything is repetitive and one note, I miss unique voices in hip-hop

Yes and no. Lil Dicky always been himself. He didn't do what Post did. But as for his show that was his type of sense of humor and style. Both shows showed the audience the awkwardness of fame, but from two different POVs. I can see how you can see it like Lil Dicky took the idea, but both shows stands on their own. And unlike Friends and Living Single, Atlanta is getting the credit and praise it deserves.

I been saying this as well. I’m 35 but I remember when YT people did there own thing in music with alternative rock like System of a Down or Linkin Park. Growing up people had their own style within their social circle. You had goth kids, hip hop kids, the Spanish kids lol. Nowadays everyone is just hip hop culture to the point where it confuses me because half the time as someone who grew up in the hood I can see through it. I didn’t know it was the good old days then, but it really was. Everyone was their own person.

This is exactly why I don’t lesson to a lot of new music. EVERYONE raps the same there’s no real style difference, cadence difference, etc. people just do what ever is most popular it’s sad considering how great rap was in the 90’s and early 2000s. There are some decent artists now but it’s the exception not the norm
