Great content as per mate, useful coming into the lockdown 2.0 😂 Can tell you from a student where all my home gym is at the garage back home, cheaper alternative I’ve used water....got 2 free 25 litre water containers, full it and it’s like 24-26kg, great for kettlebell, squats, shoulder front lifts, less water and you can do anything tbf. Only for the month as gyms are shut 😂

@@DyabeuPL mate, literally all my equipment is in my home gym away from uni. CBA to spend like another few hundred on top of a gym membership down at uni. I use instead (when gyms aren’t open due to current lockdown) big water containers, can do swings, hold and squat and anything you can think of. Strong set of resistance bands when stacked add up to 140kg so can do virtually anything with them. Also a ton of callisthenics - Horizontal pushes (push up variations) - Horizontal pulling (Inverted rows) - Vertical push extension (Pike push variations) - Vertical push flexion (dips) - vertical pulling (pull up and chin ups, can due bc no pull up bar) A mix of all of them with cardio. you’ll end up stacking on a good solid base, lose fat while building muscle. Just don’t ego do anything, if you can’t do a push up with PERFECT FORM, perform incline push ups with perfect form until you develop the strength to do an actual push up. QUALITY over quality any day of the week.

Assembly by myself was not too hard. I took my time and followed the diagrams. I particularly like the pictures and names of the exercises organized by muscle groups on the front of the kzbin.infoUgkxKJHyBZ9I1py9vVi-XLpEBg0y-qmdhn3q . Considering the number of exercises it has a relatively small footprint. I needed a machine that was not too tall because I only have 79" headroom in my cabin and this was just over 78". It is easy to use, seems to be well made, and I am pleased with my purchase. I am doing upper body muscles on Monday and Thursday. Lower body exercises are being done on Tuesday and Friday. Not using it on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. I am a reasonably fit 66 year old man and this is a great workout.

Ive been using resistance bands i got a set right up to a 79kg max pull each (got in pairs), i also have a set of the tube types purely for certain exercises but am maxing out on them now. The handle with a carabine is a Genius idea that i never thought of, Massive thanks. For those who have never used Bands before, im now getting gains i never though possible, for example with a shoulder press with a pair of my max bands is equivalent of 158kg at the top of the movement, not enough, uses another pair in conjunction and you wont run out of resistance short of being a strongman type lifter. I've seen other videos mentioning theres not enough resistance, showing the smallest 13mm bands, well obviously those wont be, but with the range now available i wont be rushing back to a gym.

Some great advice here. I've managed to be fairly thrifty putting mine together so far. I've managed to get a couple of good deals: £5 Flooring - From Marketplace, only old kid's style jigsaw play mats but better than nothing £5 Push up bars - From Market place £5 Pull up bar - From Market place £17 Dumbbell set - Asda, clearance section, Only a 20Kg adjustable set but I'm only starting out weights wise £3 Resistance bands - TK Maxx (only the cheap ones Joe has said not to bother with, but again better than nothing) £1 Skipping rope - TK Maxx £1 Hand gripper - TK Maxx (the last 3 items were in a set for £5 in clearance section) With a few other small items (water bottle, etc.) I've spent about £40 so far. Long way to go to get what I'd ideally like but you really don't need to spend a lot to make good progress.

Best way to go is small dumbells/barbells that you can adjust the weight on. For under £250 I've managed to get 4x10kg 4x5kg 4x2.5kg 4x1.25kg so I can have any weight from 5kg to 35kg per dumbell (most that can fit on the handle). I can hit every body part effectively with that weight range

I would just add that for the dumbbells, I'd recommend getting loadable ones. This is exactly because of his point that you want to build on your gym all the time, and you can't ever make a dumbbell weight more or less than it does, so you're always going to have to buy more. However, if you get loadable ones, then you can start at 15kg per hand, and then if you want to go up more, you need to spend less. But it's quite hard to get good prices on those so bear that in mind. Im definitely going to get some handles because I didnt think of that! Great idea and didn't realise they were so cheap.

Great video ! Gyms are closed in France (for the second time of the year 😢) and I don’t expect them to open before next year. I am using my bench and my dumbbells several times a week at home and I can hit pretty much every muscular group with dumbbells (shoulder, chest, biceps triceps, back). I find it harder for legs although a lot of exercices are possible with bench/dumbbells. For low budget, push up handles and ab roller is also something I could advise. Keep doing your videos they are great !! Cheers from South of France 😉

Great vid. I've been waiting 4 months for my atx stuff, its here in a few weeks. I've gone for their 750 cage with lat pull 125kg. I wanted just one heavy stack, I only ever use a duel stack for cable flys. So all back exercises are covered, side laterals, front laterals, even biceps. I've got a 140kg barbell package from atx and an adjustable bench. I'm thinking I should have maybe got the bench with leg attachments but I'm going to focus more on squats. I bought some Olympic barbells so I can utilise my plates. Hopefully going to get a few lighter hex dumbells though. Got an ez bar to, great bit of kit and not to expensive. A tricep rope, few, d hooks, v bar etc. Good to go and can not wait. All in think I've spent about £2500. Just need some flooring then I'll add to it as I go. Great video and help for people Joey D.

Im currently planning my homegym, I'm kinda restricted due to living in Norway, we have to pay 25% in tax from buying abroad, so that is not a valid option. I am currently renovating a room downstairs, so im not sure about the roof height yet, that will determine if i go for a power rack or a squat rack with catchers. Since my girlfriend is joining my venture my priority list goes like this: 1. Threadmill 2. Mirrors and flooring (buying from IKEA and used gym mats or in bulk) Wanna cover a decent arena around "working stations". 3. Dumbbells set and rack up to 30 kgs i figure i could do a lot with this, buying hex dumbbells. 4. Adjustable bench. 5. Chin up / pull up bar or power tower, depending on price and market. 6. Equipment to do dips on, this kinda depends which kinda rack i go with, i might just go for the equalizer bars. - For the next purchase i definitively wanna get myself some equipment for main-lifts: 1. Squat rack / power rack / half rack (depends on roof height), very practical to get a stand considering you can use bands and various attachments which saves space. 2. Weights (i dont really care about bumpers, might get a set of technical weights to do power cleans etc with lower weight) 3. Barbells (main bar, curl bar and maybe a triceps bar) 4. Leg curl, ham curl attachment for bench. And if i ever win the lottery some sort of cable rig.

Resistance bands seem gimmicky to me, I'd avoid them. In Australia we do periodic ''curb side collections'', basically the council sends trucks to remove stuff people throw away. One mans junk is another mans treasure. Take a drive to wherever they have these roadside collections and see if you can spot any old fitness equipment for free. I got myself one of those generic pull up + dip stands for free. Pretty ideal if you're on an ultra budget.

Great video Joe, you have given me some good ideas, when i first started i got an argos barbell and dumbbell set with spinlock collars, i also got an ez bar with same spinlock collar, i got a cheap bench from amazon and also for a sit up bench, they have sat in the shed for ages to be honest cause i have been training in anytime fitness gym but my contract is due to end in September so i been toying with the idea of a home gym purely for convenience of traveling and waiting for people to finish using gym equipment, i know i definitely need to replace the weight bench cause it's way to narrow i always catch my hand putting barbell back after bench pressing 😂

What do you think about skipping the rack first, and buying a barbell and some used weights Let's say you only get a barbell and 2 20's you can still do cleans to OHP or front squats Romanian deadlifts Rows Floor press Clean to a back squat position and then doing Good mornings, split stance squats, platz squats And more Throw in a band or two and you could do deficit banded deadlifts aswell which could actually get pretty heavy.

Hey I have a question: why do you prefer the loop style resistance bands over the resistance bands that already come with handles? You said you didn't like them but I'm just curious

Titanium Strength Black Series B200 With 200kg Weight Stack @ £2195 Can you give your opinion on this as part of a £5k budget? My opinion was it covers a lot more machines in just one piece of equipment and that for me means less space

I just got 20kg dumbbell adjustable weights for ~45e. You can make them be (1.5kg, 2.5kg, 4kg, 5kg, 6.5kg, 7.5kg, 9kg and 10kg). Best decision I've made as a beginner... Currently lifting them at 10kg (max) and bought 4x of 5kg and 4x of 0.5kg so I can go from 1.5kg -> 20kg on each dumbbell. I agree that these dumbbells are terrible, and cheap, but they get the work done. Will get better once I save enough money for them!

I made do with some shit sand filled weights last lockdown.. can't face it again so invested in a couple of 25kg variable weight dumbells.... £350 for 2 from the quality sports establishment sports direct.. FML Seem decent though tbh, same as the muscle squad ones just different branding No free huge mug tho.. Will see me through with a shitty old bench and some resistance bands

Dont know how many people would actually need it, but my plan is to buy iron master dumbells, a 34kg set of adjustable dumbells for 640 euros and then you can buy an expansion set of 40kg for 440 euros. I for damn sure will not need 74kg on a dumbell anytime soon. Plenty of room to grow, with very little room needed for equiptment on a relatively tight budget.
