Joe, I have a question and it would be much appreciated if you could answer, please. The mistake in that sentence "his real mistake was there was a right choice, to begin with". Surely the operative word in the above quote is "right"? because it implies there was a correct decision that dave could have made but there was not however there was A decision to be made because he had to options so, therefore, the operative word is "right" and not "a"?.

Thank you so much for this Joe. This is how anxiety works and I have been suffering from it for most of my life. Overthinking creates inertia, whis why in extreme cases, people are unable to even leave their house. It is very important to give our minds some 'breathing' space, and turn off our phones and computers at night. Once you are aware of the problem, it will ways be there to a certain degree, but you will be able to manage it better. All the best.

Thanks man, this video helped a lot. Two biggest points I'm taking from this is stopping myself in the process of overthinking and ask if it deserves as much attention as I'm giving it, and if I determine that it is, I know it's better to make a decision and then put the effort in to make sure that it's the right decision. I've sort of been doing the latter in new relationships for a while now and it's definitely helped. Rather than thinking about "Should I ask this girl out?" or "Is it weird for me to invite my new friend along to this?" I've just been doing it, and putting the energy that I would've used for deliberation into making it fun. It used to be really painful to be social because I used to spend so much time thinking about what to say and never had confidence in what I said, but now I've focused on just saying shit that comes to mind and it helps me be more "in the moment" and warm and personable to people. How you say things is honestly way more important than what you say. Impressions of people, in my opinion, are formed largely from body language and general "sociability", rather than the content of their sentences. For some reason I always had this wrong. I really noticed it in a recent job interview, where I was able to make jokes and answer questions that I hadn't prepared for, whereas in the past I would have been so stressed that talking would have been difficult. Being able to ask my interviewers questions and say things like, "I think that question would be better answered after [information they were going to provide at the end of the interview]" made me feel as though I was somewhat in control of the interview and took me out of the hot seat. It's weird to say, but I hope to continue my progress and be able to feel truly comfortable having a conversation with anyone, in almost any situation. Thanks for this video. This side of you keeps you down to earth and it's the reason you're the only person in this genre of KZbin that I've remained subscribed to.

Ok, so I'm a chronic overthinker Thank you for this video, it's awesome and some great insights in here. I've slowly gotten better at avoiding at overthinking, there are a few practices that have helped me with this problem, hope it helps someone else. 1. meditation - either you can meditate on your problems and thoughts to get think them and get them out of your mind or you can meditate on nothing but your breathing to train your mind into thinking about less (or nothing). 2. journalling- just writing down your stream of thought worries, helps you express your thoughts and feelings so they don't just swirl around in your head and replay on repeat in your head 3. setting your goals and routines ahead of time (and don't change them) - write down your goals, the date you want them to be completed and your strategy for achieving them. With any routines for the day, for cleaning, everything. I write it all down and follow it based on my calendar. I also write all my apointments and obligations into my calendar. This way everything is more or less decided for you, you don't always feel the need to think about if they're the right decision because you can't change them. You effectively limit your decision making time to when you come to the end of a goal and need to re-evaluate new ones. I hope this helps anyone else also struggling with overthinking.

Holy shit Joe, I truly wish I would have discovered this video of yours a decade ago in my early 20s. Thankfully I've come to realize and internalize this message over the years, but even now hearing you break it down so clearly helps me not only fully wrap my mind around what I've come to feel is true, but it'll also be invaluable in communicating that experience to others. Honestly bro, you're a real gem of a content creator and I hope it never stops being fulfilling / worthwhile for you to make because whether it's fitness or more general personal growth stuff like this video, you really do offer a ton of value to people in your insights, and I love your sense of humor. THIS is the content Id like to see even more of. During the two minute mark you really outline a lot of key things that best describe so many times I can think of relating to me. From being on the dole many moons ago and over reacting and overthinking over issues that could have been totally absent altogether had I been out and about more. To stressing out and replaying in the mind certain shite situations a person in work put me through- as a result of not being able to confront the person or situation at the time itself. It muddles and accumulates in the mind later, when at home in the comfort zone again. So much time passes mulling on the different outcomes of the same thing, without actually doing anything about it, because of confidence depletions. And the downtime to myself during the lockdowns have really made me see that more. This was a fucking great video, mate. Tanks so much for the sound, articulate advice and thoughts.

What I get from you Joe from the moment I started to listen between the lines of your comments, tips and advise for fitness, is actually a very intelectual, analytical individual who is becoming better at articulating those thoughts. This video was very well made and a deeper level than just fitness. You chose fitness and the results are amazing , of course you look fantastic and it is motivating to follow your training and nutrition, however what differentiates you ,in my opinion , is the way you internalize, analize and communicate. One of the best life-advice I ever came across is to recognise what kind of decision you're making, cost/impact/duration and to act accordingly. 95% of the decision I make just don't matter by the end of the week, or an hour later. :'') Actually helps staying lean as well, I'll make the 'right' choice most of the time being well aware taste only last so long, so if I don't automatically make the right choice, I know I may as well go with it or I'll end up overthinking and probably eating both.

I got a massive case of overthinking, that too many mind quote really helped put it into perspective, I didn't live in the present, worried too much about what was and what will be instead of what is. I've been overthinking the whole case about online privacy, like it and fear of infection has caused me to waste so much time and will power worrying about something I either can't control, or something that has yet to happen, and likely will not happen. Worrying about stuff that won't matter when I'm on my death bed.
