I think women should be allowed to be in the military, but they shouldn’t change the requirements for both physical fitness and mental fitness.

@@EmoPeter2000 true, just dont drop the standards at all. If women can't make it, well then what? It's not like we're losing something. We didnt have women in the infantry before and it'll be the same. Plus if any woman does make it, which I believe they eventually can, she'll truly be highly respected and seen as one of the VERY few.

We had 3 just in our company (small combat mos not infantry tho) get pregnant and didn’t deploy with us and left us 3 short. metallicak5 There's a reason why! it's because she's valued more, and that she's weak cute and vulnerable, her special treatments are based on the fact she's a woman. The public eye looks at the men as he can take care of himself even if he's captured and near death, nobody would be in such distress to get him. We see examples of this with battered woman they get shelters and government funding to take care of them with all these problems they face, We sure don't see these programs existing for battered men under such distress as civilians! so that's how unfair it is for men. men get nothing no help when combatted with such bullshit!.

She isn’t totally infertile. What happens is when women lose too much body fat, they become infertile during that time period. Bottom line is this. Women know good and well they don’t want to take on the burden of a man. It’s all smoke and mirrors when females ask for equality. Females only want equality when it’s in an air conditioned building and they want the high paying jobs in those roles only. This woman had to only go through a portion of what the men did and it broke her, so she knows first hand that women can’t physically compete with men.

@frbe0101 8 жыл бұрын
***** ... why do we need the same percentage of gender pass any standard?
@frbe0101
@frbe0101 8 жыл бұрын
Well I don't think a presidential fitness plan is the same thing as military service. It is fine to have sexed standards for say being healthy, or a men and women's league sports time, but it is another thing to have two standard for how well you can kill or be killed. Lets say we have an engineering competition something like "build a rocket" the fastest highest flying rocket wins, the gender ratio is irrelevant and will probably skew male as fewer women are going to give a fuck about rockets. In your example of national fitness or sports there is no external judgment, anyone can set up any rules for victory, but when there is external judgment, when you can't set the rules for victory, then all that matters is who ever has got the best ability. So lets say you need people that can drag other people out of a firefight, haul all their equipment by foot while shooting at people, you need people that can kill and not die, you can't create a different standard for men and women, unless the enemy is going to treat the women better! A universal military fitness standard would simply determine your role in war, from army base cook to special forces marine. There would be plenty of military roles that women would be fine at in even gender ratios, some even in combat, military pilots for example, women are usually smaller, lighter, have shorter heart to brain distance. Look at the air force, their biggest test is how many Gs you can take, that is it. Centrifugal force does not give you special credit because of your genitals.

+Mary Ellin What do you do if a commander give you an order for 10 km(or 10 mile) walk, then assault. Then run 1 km(1 mile) then make a patrol. It is the time you need physical strength. Having double standart do not create double field to fight. A person needed to fit field standart.

It's like "Oh look, that guy is doing that thing which I think is cool, I must show that I can do it too otherwise he's being a misogynist!" but apparently the things that women do best are no longer cool for them, for some bizarre reason! :/ Feminists are like guys trapped in women's bodies who want to be guys but have all the privileges of being a woman! I am a soldier in the austrian special forces the "Jagdkommando", we had several women (dozens) try to pass the entrance examination and not one was able to. There is a reason training in the military is so rigorous and standard is so high, because in combat that can mean the difference between life and death. If they pass the entrance exam, by all means, let them join, but there has to be ONE STANDARD for everybody.

Let's be clear, you are talking about fitness requirements for a special forces unit, correct? I agree that no one should be in the special forces who cannot pass the standardized testing and training. I am Canadian Armed Forces and to my knowledge there are no women working as assaulters in JTF2 (even if there were we wouldn't know about it because their identities are suppressed for obvious reasons). Canadians have allowed women into all positions since 1989 which means we have female infanteers and combat arms soldiers. They are the gross minority of combat arms because most women choose other trades. To be fair most men choose other trades though as the combat arms do not make up the majority of soldiers, sailors and airmen. The women I have met who are combat arms are fit and tough. I know lots of men who have worked with them and they have expressed no issues so long as they can keep up; this sentiment applies to men as well. If you can physically hack the combat arms they will force you to change trades regardless of your gender. The Canadian fitness standard called the FORCE test and the Battle Fitness Test are not prorated for gender or age which means every person in the the CAF must pass the same fitness test, period. There are incentive levels for the FORCE test now which account for age and gender but the minimum standard is the same for everyone. Beyond that all unit PT is done together and there is not a male/female version of PT. If we go on a march everyone carries the same weight, everyone goes the same distance and everyone has to finish by the same time. This also applies to runs and bodyweight training. There is more of an issue with certain trades being less fit than actual gender issues. There are additional physical standards based on specific occupations such as paratrooper, Search and Rescue Techs, Special Operations Forces, divers, Fire Fighters, flight crew and so on. These standards are also gender neutral which means any women in these positions have met that standard. I would take a fit women over an unfit man any day and that seems to be the sentiment with my male colleagues. There are women who are unfit for combat roles, but we must bear in mind there are lots of men who are unfit for those jobs too. Making a blanket statement that every woman is unfit does not bear out when the opportunities are made available.
@donkshock

Yes, in my case I am talking about fitness requirements for a special forces unit and as I said, if women pass the entrance exam, they should be allowed in. I am NOT suggesting NO WOMEN period. What I am saying, is that lowering standards for women just so they can "get in", could be really dangerous and potentially cost lives.

Well, it's like this, man. A VERY SMALL percentage of women want this position in combat arms. Of that percentage an astounding few, and I'm talking a shockingly small amount, will have what it takes to make it without lowering standards etc. So, America believes we should absolutely accommodate them by dropping millions of dollars in to surveys, studies, new bathroom facilities, more barracks and a slew of other issues I would have to think about. All this for literally 10 -15 women. And more than likely, burnout will hit and they will move on to another job set, and others, new ones that possibly will not follow in there steps because they will figure out what we have known. Infantry sucks. So, rather than say hey, this is how it is, we bend over backward to fulfill anyone's whim and fancy. So, I think America should pay for me to get pregnant, no matter the absurdity of it. Now, I'm not a woman hater. Love them, I personally oversaw the insertion of the FET team in Afghanistan (female engagement team) and those ladies did well at that job. But not everyone deserves a participation trophy, man. They try not to put two females on same medic unit because to often they need to call for a lift assist which now puts another fire engine or medic out of service. And the top 10% of female fire fighters perform at a level worse then the worst 10% of the male firefighters consistently for all 23 years I was there. It just go's to show how much less qualified the other 90% of the women are. I also spent 6 years as an infantryman in the Army and the biggest concern if females fought in combat is if a sargeant has to order someone to charge a machine gun nest, and its between a man or women because no one else is available, does he order the man to do it because we are subconsciously protective of women or he orders the man to do it because he has a better chance of completing the task. @YamiKisara
@YamiKisara 8 жыл бұрын
Agreed, during a combat situation the team with a woman will be at a major disadvantage simply for the fact that all the men will unconsciously keep an eye on her. She will also be a liability physically-vise because women, even if they train hard, will always be weaker than men facing the same training (she could train a lot more to catch up, but then there's the risk she's gonna be more tired) and obviously getting her period in the middle of a fight can be a big problem too (be it her psychic abilities, need to change it down there every so often, or simple health risks involved). In case of a capture it's obvious what would happen to her (not like it didn't happen to men, but in far smaller numbers, with a woman it's pretty much a given it will happen and it's one of the reasons they were never allowed to wage war and why prostitutes earned good money wherever the military was stationed). Long story short, I'm all for women joining the military, but do the important jobs in the back (look at queen Elisabeth II.!) and leave the men on the frontlines, it'll be safer for both parties

I remember in basic there was this little guy, five two maybe a buck thirty - anyways the drill staff thought it would be funny to pair him up with the 6'4" bodybuilder who was about two fifty. The little guy earned the nickname of the 'ant' because an ant can lift up to fifty times its body weight. He picked up this giant and slung him over his shoulder in a fireman carry and ran the 600 meter test. The big guys hands were dragging in the muck, but the Ant didn't slow down one bit.

Woman should be given the opportunity to pursue any path they want. But they shouldn't get their panties in a bunch if they fail either. People think that equality means you automatically get a position, but it doesn't mean that. It means you're given the opportunity to prove yourself instead of being looked past because if your gender. But physically, men are superior. But I also think that woman are more superior when it comes to tact and strategy. Stop trying to change nature, and see the genders for their strengths and weaknesses (with the occasional rare cases).. but EVERYONE should be given the opportunity to try.

Firstly, gender not equal sex. A transwomen still has the sex of a man, but the gender self identification of a female. People seem to mix that up allot, which is understandable. Secondly, as a exMil REAL stormtropper sergeant that have both trained male and female soldiers. There are a decent amount of women that are good enough, no you dont need to be better than all the guys just because you are one of 5 women in the platoon just because conservatives like to think that is a good argument. Thirdly, allot of things in the military were catering to men and male interests. Everything from how lectures were given to what tests were done. Yes, there is a physical difference, but when someone had to carry the whole tent on their back, because the buttons holding each part together froze, it wasnt the smallest guy that got that job ether. Having a greater pool of recruits to pick from is always better, males tend to perform better if they compete with a few females and 90% of jobs in the military are NOT shock troops. Lastly, it is mostly just special forces that have very high standards for physical fitness that females have a hard time reaching. Sure, a soccer sprint, bounding, trench clearing and massive amounts of held held weapons operating shock troops needs to be fit as well, but its nothing one cant train a female to do as long as she is not too short. Oh and special forces are just slightly better infantry in the field. I have knocked out (in training of course, not reality because they are our allies. :) ) a bunch of services from SAS, Navy seals to FSK and others. When a CV90 (our troop carrying IFV) night vision system detects you. It doesnt give a shit if you are female or male, special or not. You are going to be turned into kebab if the projectiles are real.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure there is a place for women in any army, in which capacity they can sometimes outshine the men. A female can be an excellent pilot, analyst, translator, drill instructor, prison guard, general, you name it. Just need to admit that the reverse is true: there are things men do better, and there is even missions where employing a female would actually be *detrimental*, and that is just a fact of life we need to accept.

My buddy is still an E-4 and has been in almost 6 years and his job only had 12 slots available for E-5 in the entire Army. He went in the exact same time as I did which was right out of high-school. We just picked different jobs. We have generals and admirals that are females for Christ sake. But I don't know where I stand on the whole females alongside males in combat jobs. I see both ways. For me I couldn't give a shit I just need to be able to depend on them when I need them and know that they can carry the same weight that I can and pass the same exact requirements that I had to pass (same basic training, occupational specialty school, same pt test, same medical/physical exams, etc.). The only thing was that my unit finally put women in it as a test and the EO complaints, sexual harassment complaints/cases, sexual assault cases, discrimination cases, fraternizing, and just about every every other complaint out there just sky rocketed through the roof when that happened. So if this is gonna work then some shit somewhere is gonna have to change big time. Now having said all this I came from the Army so I don't know if the Marines are different but after switching branches to the Navy a long time ago it honestly was just the same bullshit but different branch and uniform. The problem isn't that they're willing to serve in a combat MOS with men. It's that in order to pass training the physical standards have to be lowered. What you end up with is member of your unit that is a weak link and that puts the entire unit in added danger unnecessarily. Here we have a female Marine who is clearly a realist stating the same thing. She knows if she goes toe to toe with a male Marine in combat she falls short of the physical demands required.

I'm gonna make this simple. You're on enemy ground on mission, you get shot in the leg, you have to be carried a mile to be safely medivaced. Would you rather an average sized man, or woman carry you out. I understand there are outliers, but the average infantry woman wouldn't be successful. But the average, combat-trained man would more than likely be capable.

If they can pass the fitness test then yes, they are qualified to be there just as every man who qualified. The issue is having to lower the standards for women when those standards are what keep the infantry prepared. Don't make this harder than it needs to be. Its a rather simple concept.

It is really very simple. The average male Marine is stronger and faster in combat, has more endurance and the 'Y' Chromosome that women are always bitching about enables him to be a better killer. The Marines are sent into areas to kill and break things. If a male Marine (230-250 lbs) gets wounded no female Marine can pick him up and carry him, I don't care how much adrenaline is pumping through her. Women, on the average are not as strong as men, are not as much of a cold blooded killer as men. you can whine about sexist bullshit as much as you want. The simple fact is in some areas, this one most notably, men and women are not equal, not in physical strength. You want to pretend otherwise and your entitlement mentality will get people killed. There will be loses that should not have occurred, it is a long process to train a Marine to be the perfect killer they become, there is a very large financial investment involved as well. Do not try to diminish this with touchy feely bullshit. Facts are facts, whining does not change them. Deal with it. God Bless the Marine Corps.

The Renumerator Here's the problem with your thinking though. In terms of physical strength you only need to be strong enough to carry the requisite gear and march the requisite distances. In terms of actual combat physical strength doesn't actually come into play anymore since you only half a pound of pressure to pull a trigger. A physically fit women should be able to meet those requirements as well as her male counterparts.

Johnny she said she was infertile because she has PCOS. There's a few problems with that statement. PCOS is when your ovaries develop cysts and can't/or has difficulty release/ ing an egg during ovulation. This reduces your chances of getting pregnant, it doesn't make you 100% completely infertile. PCOS is caused by hormonal imbalances in the body, not necessarily from over-exercising. So while it's possible she got PCOS from over-exercising, it was more likely she developed it independently of her physical training. With that said, I agree that pushing yourself to your Breaking Point just to prove a point when there's no possibility of sustaining for long term is just foolishness and delusion.

So I'm a female and I believe in equal rights for men and women. We shouldn't put women, nor men, in these stereotypical roles. However, when it comes to physical strength I Know that average women cannot match up to the average man. I think it's dangerous and irresponsible putting females in combat positions in our military. Believe me, I wish we were as strong as men but it's just not the way we were built. I've come to except that MAYBE women will naturally be better caregivers and men better muscles. If your average female cannot carry your average male comrade out of harms way when he needs it, that's a man left behind for the enemy or a female comrade accompanying him for the ride cause she couldn't retreat to a safe location quickly enough. I mean equality would be great and all but, to me, you literally have to be EQUAL to receive the same treatment. (Equal strength for the job, equal intelligence for the job, equal experience, etc.) I could go on forever but you know, no one would really read past this.

Equality does not mean the dolphin is supposed to be able to hunt in forest just as well as a tiger could: that's just stupid. Equal standing as in equal respect and equal voice, yes, but people should take jobs based on what they can do best at, and leave the political quotas out.

For example some problems 1) if an infantry squad is captured, and a female is among them, guess who is getting raped, tortured and held as a prized hostage. 2) females STATISTICALLY can hold back a squad in terms of effectiveness and progress. A comment above kind of illustrated this when he said "20 marines shouldn't die because Sally's grenade fell a yard short of the bunker"

That's the exact issue though: the overwhelming majority (99%) cannot pass the tests the men pass consistently. I'm all for letting the 1% she-hulks through, but the point is that there seems to be a CULTURAL movement to view women as equals in everything, even physical activity, where they statistically lag behind. There's no denying the mountains of evidence from militaries around the world, the Olympic world records, sports records and a number of misc stories about men vs. women that all suggest men have a ridiculous edge in all things physical. As an aside, there's even studies that suggest men often have this "protector" attitude around women, and that a man serving alongside a woman is more likely to break rank specifically to save or protect her. That's by no means the fault of the woman, but it's still a problem. Should we let organization suffer just so that the >1% of women that can manage can feel special...? It's the military, lives are at stake. It's not a fucking contest to show off how equal or great you are, it's a fight for your life. I'm all for keeping the option on the table, and I'm all for the consideration of letting women through that DO pass the tests that are expected of men. However, the fact of the matter is that a ridiculous minority would be capable of doing that, and focusing your strategy on what's the most equal instead of focusing it on what works is NOT a way to save lives or win wars.

I’m getting tired of hearing about female Marines being equal physically they are not. If the Marine Corps believe that than the scores for PFTs and CFT’s should be equal for both men and women. Depending on your age guys have to do 20 dead hang pull-ups or more females if I remember only need to do 12 to get a score of 100 depending on age. So why do we have a men’s and female’s score it should be just a Marine Corps score not caring about your gender. Yes females mentally can do the job but when it comes to physical fitness or even MCMAP training there is a difference.
