Jimmy Carr is one of the most under appreciated comedians. 8 out of 10 cats is both hilarious and insightful at times. They insulted us, humiliated us, scattered us, but united, we were stronger. We across Europe still hold Rome and it's empire with nostalgia and reverence though. If it wasn't for Rome, there would have been no great French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese or British Empires. One important thing to note is that the collapse of the Roman Empire wasn't this big dramatic event that happened overnight and the next morning it was like a medieval Mad Max. In reality, the collapse was a very slow, gradual process that took place over decades. Rome slowly lost more and more power, while its outlying territories became more and more independent, until it just made more sense to declare themselves their own kingdoms outright.

These are comforting words! Exactly what I have been thinking ever since I set foot in the US for the first time in 2006. Coming from Eastern Europe at the age of 20, I felt like anything is possible. It is not perfect and I have learned that throughout the years, but I have also learned a lot about many other systems around the world. I studied master in Germany 2015/16, moved back to Eastern Europe, supposedly for a year to work online and spend time with family, Cofid hit and the stay was prolonged. Now it is about time to move back to the US and I can not wait. Europe is so much more difficult in so many aspects. It is more expensive, it is confining and claustrophobic, and all other kinds of phobic. America truly is the land of the free and the brave. It always gets worse before it gets better, and my hope will never die, unless they throw zombies at us I am not leaving.

Haven’t seen the full interview but Jimmy lost my respect when he jumped on the band wagon attacking the unjabbed. Hope Joe pulled him on that.

"I think with people, with nations, with the world, it's like finding purpose is very important...and what's the next purpose going to be? How are we going to fit in? What's our place going be?" incredibly well spoken...profound statement that rings extremely true

That’s the issue with America. To fuel growth and innovation and feed the ever growing entitlements there always needs to be a new frontier. There isn’t one. There’s no place for enterprising men to go to make their mark and fail so they can learn and succeed. Where will the next frontier be?

It seemed like Joe was a little less enthusiastic or contributing to the conversation on this one compared to others. He was often responding with ‘mmhmm’. Usually he has a lot more to say.

As an American who lived in Europe, everyone would constantly talk sh*t about Americans. I laughed it off, but deep down, I thought, “Americans would never be so openly discriminatory.” It’s so normalized to criticize America. Jimmy is the first European to say something positive. It’s refreshing.

He was about to say “culturally we’re still on top” but checked himself and went into praising America. Saw Joe’s micro expression in the lift of the brows and took it off on another track!!!
