Talk to me once you’ve actually delved into the person. Mike is a protector. He’s Nick and Nate (Diaz) approved. Do not start no trouble there will not be any problems. I have watched this fighter grow throughout the years. While he is dangerous, he still wears his heart on his sleeve. I guess that is what I mean he is sweet. He lets you know the boundaries. This podcast was 1 of my favorite JRE ones in a while. Definitely my favorite fighter podcast with Joe. Mike had me laughing more than most of the comedians Joe brings on and he wasn’t even trying to be funny all the time, just being himself. The amount of confusion between the 2 was hilarious, so many things were just going over each others heads like they were speaking different languages. I wish it went longer but I could tell Mike was starting to get burnt out from having the longest conversation of his life. It would be epic to have Mike Perry on Mike Tyson’s podcast.

Love that Mike has found not only a good place, but the place perfect for him. I remember growing up, how much I loved fighting, but really just loved brawling. Thought about trying to pursue a career in it, but decided it would be a bad choice because of how difficult it is to actually be successful, make money, and avoid destroying your body in the process. That is what I love about Mike - he just DGAF. Straight dawg, just goes at it... every single fight. Always said the issue was, he didn't fight smart enough. He has some really good, solid skills. But he loves brawling so much, he would get caught in traps or out-pointed by more strategic MMA fighters. Bareknuckle... he forces it to just be a battle of wills and souls. He will NOT back down and is almost impossible to put down... so unless you can take AND dish more pain and violence than Mike Perry, you will lose. If there was a real-life equivalent of a D&D barbarian... that would be Mike Perry. Wanderlei back in the day. Just lunatics for violence and aggression.

“No one cares about your problems.” The truest statement ever made. Legitimately no one cares…some propel pretend they do but they don’t actually. No one gives a shit about what your going through…no one gives a shit how you feel. So might as well don’t bother telling them and drive on. People see results not intentions.

I always loved George Foreman's cross arm defense, he started using later in his career. I don't know why anyone else never used it. He would completely shut down opponents with it, they couldn't even hit him at all.

Foreman had a lot of density plus big gloves in bareknuckle some of those shots will break through

Joe Frazier used it effectively to. He couldn't stop Foreman's uppercuts though

Bcuz he was big enough to use it. You gotta have a strong fkn core and be powerful enough to punch outta that defense.

I tried messing around with it but found it impeded my vision and made my punches telegraphed and awkward. You might get called for backfist due to the mechanics of the strikes in modern boxing even... I will say it might be more valuable than a standard high guard if you're against the ropes or trying to get in because I do feel like it more effectively covers the most vulnerable areas, especially if you've got long enough arms to wrap your ears and mix it up with a long-guard defence, which is primarily how foreman made it valuable.
