To my knowledge, the bassist, John Deacon, didn't sing on any album or in any live performance. He was still a helluva bass player and songwriter. Plus, he invented/built the Deacy amp, which is the amp that Brian May used to create many of the uniquely "Queen" sounding guitar solos and choruses that you hear on pretty much every album, so yeah, he carried his weight even if he didn't sing.

Also vote up one from me, but in all honesty, while that performance is widely considered legendary, to me it was just a typical "day at the office" caliber live performance by Queen at the height of their powers. Watch any other live performance video by them, and they're equally as powerful and astounding. I think Live Aid stands out because it gave non-Queen fans an opportunity to see how amazing they were when compared to other top acts of the day. And it gave us Queen fans a chance to say: "See? they ARE in a class all by themselves!" :-)

Yes Joey. All 4 members of Queen could sing & they also all wrote songs for the band. As you said, pure talent. After watching this with Freddie giving a masterclass, can tell really appreciate what a class act the band were & are now a Queen fan.. You should check out the official video of '"These are the days of our lives". Filmed in black & white cos Freddie was so ill. His body was failing but the voice hasn't deserted him. It's a sad watch & tugs the heartstrings when he looks he into the camera & gives a little smile. You can tell he knows he doesn't have long left and is saying goodbye. Emotional.

I don't care that Freddie Mercury was gay all i care about is that he had good looks and had an amazing voice.

He actually wasn't gay, Freddie was bisexual lol he admitted it to his fiancee (Mary Austin) in the early 70's but the movie would have you believe he was gay lol he liked girls too, so he was bi, he just didn't want anyone speculating on who he had sex with, so he didn't want to admit it to the open public, because he wanted them to focus on their music, as opposed to whether or not he was running around to different gay clubs everywhere,...which he WAS lol he just wouldn't say it in interviews, and he's well known for a lack of interviews, unless he thought whoever it was, was either very nice, or good looking

I just always thought they were all gay, with the name the band had. This was 40+ years ago. Didn’t care, I just liked their music.

Freddie never drank beer on stage. He loved his beers, but on stage he had water with honey or tea for his voice. RIP. Legend.

Yes. Every one of them had a voice of their own. Every one wrote for Queen. Every one played for the band. That’s just it... they were A band. Entirely an all-for-one-and-one-for-all type of band which really doesn’t exist any more. R there any bands like that these days? I really think not.

Many thanks to the person who posted the suggestion of "No One But You." It is a Queen Official video. I love the song, and was unaware of it until now. It gives one a chance to really hear Brian's and Roger's voices. It's very poignant and well done. Check it out & react. Thanks Joey!

Hi, Joey! Three out of four of the members of Queen were good singers. Obviously, Freddie's vocal gifts were off the charts; but Brian May (the guitarist) and Roger Taylor (the drummer) were also very capable singers. John Deacon (the bassist) was the only one who was not much of a singer. But all four of them wrote major hits for the band. Roger Taylor's voice is easily recognizable in the hit, "Bohemian Rhapsody". When you hear "Galileo!" during the operatic middle section, that's Roger Taylor. Brian May sang a number of times in support/background vocals, and sang lead on a few, too; it's his voice you hear on the last verse of the song "Mother Love", completed after Freddie passed before being able to finish it.
