What. This seems like a lot of work for a pretty underwhelming result. I sidechained the bottom mic to the top mic to work as a gate. Worked like a charme.

It's crazy how post-fader trim automation doesn't come with the stock pro-tools but it exists standard in like every other DAW.

It’s on Vimeo’s end and they haven’t been helpful or cooperative in fixing the situation. They are working on moving services due to this situation. In the meantime the Facebook groups have been having a lot of watch parties so people still have content available

If you don’t want to pay for Trim Automation, PT also has clip volume automation which leaves your channel faders untouched as well.

Clip volume will be affected by compression however, as it's pre-fx, so unless your going for complete silence between hits, then that might be a problem.

Ive never used Pro Tools, always been a cubase user, but couldnt you just send the track into a bus and then "pre"automate the bus?

@@shannonmccarthy7094 it’s pretty disruptive to my workflow that way. Believe me if there was an easier way to get that sound I would have absolutely been into it. I mean if I could get away with not being on pro tools I would do that as well

So much work for this underwhelming result? Really? My approach for snare: 1) Gating the top mic with a multiband gate (I use Pro-MB in expand mode) and set the release on the high band really fast and on the low band longer 2) Leaving the snare bottom mic "un-gated" for all the ghost notes but maybe duck down the kick with sidechain compression
