As a drummer I’ve heard this song for about thousands times over. I cannot comprehend how hard this is to play. So advanced drumming and timing and yet a good song to listen to. I cannot believe how perfect Garstkas slow drumming is also. To play that fast and also mastering the slow part with pauses is insanely good. Is nice to read other peoples comments about which their favorites parts is in this song. It’s fun to rewind and listen carefully for those fills. My favourite part is at 3.32. I mean how beautiful can you make a drums sound like that! I got goosebumps every time!

Like seriously if there were ever a demi-god, that's you Matt. The texture you're able to add is genuinely special to witness. Your drumming is what I imagine the musical equivalent of particle physicists discovering some ground breaking quality about fundamental particles and then stepping back to witness the planets move in a brilliant dance. There is a wealth of data to be had studying your every single beat, like they do in the LHC, and it makes it all the more rewarding when you step back and so how all of those individual tiny little components can all come together so harmoniously, with purpose, and HOT DAMN with precision. Thank you for another soundtrack for my thoughts to be able to move to.

@@binobones Juice…steroids??? Edit bc now I looked at his IG. He deadlifted 405 last year and benched 250, you seriously think it takes roids to get those numbers? You’re an absolute weakling my guy. And at 33 years old…he’s not that old. Still should have plenty of test in his system to perform like that. Easy. 405 deadlift takes like 1-2 years from absolute beginner if you’re training properly.

@@binobones "the juice" Matt ain't juicing, just look at his shoulders, they aren't massive abnormal spheres. This bulk up is exactly what you would expect from a natty guy in his early 30s who has been lifting heavy for 2 or 3 years.

Not only exceptional musicianship, but damn I love the song composition as well; it feels very organic/grooving and not overly progy / mathmathical / lacking heart. You might just have to grab a singer one day - I swear I could hear voices on this one. Well done.

All other versions AAL release of the album that aren’t Matt’s playthroughs are just the percussive nerfed versions, I really do wish AAL posted Matt’s playthrough audios to Apple Music/Soundcloud/Spotify etc.

This track is a little more organic than the others on the album, but still so punchy. Unbelievably good sounding kit!

I'm a big fan of Dream Theater and as such I've seen tons of videos of Mike Portnoy and Mangini. All know what I'm talking about. But here, Matt, is from another level. Yeah, I know that the music DT invent the last years as complexity - time signatures changes and etc is not quite complicate as in Animals as leaders. So we don't have these three guys in the same conditions. But, Matt, please, make this next 200 years, please!

over how many sessions did it take you to do all the takes for your playthrus? how many hours to get the perfect takes? I see you made a compromise at 3:03, just wondering what your time commitment to these sessions was bc they're amazing and live you're playing the songs so well
@AngirasDarbha

3:03 wasn't a compromise, it was intentional. In the original song itself, that specific phrase, the audio in the span of that one 16th note, was just cut, copied, and pasted 4 times across that beat. It's meant to give it an unnatural, artificial feeling.
