I'm glad you liked the Dales and was excited to see what you thought as I walk around there and have done a fair bit of the Pennine way on day hikes. Real shame about the litter on the "3 Peaks" they're always busy and it's not a great descent with the crowds and a heavy backpack. Hope you enjoyed the peace of Fountains fell after! 😊. Can't imagine you will be fond of the next bit to Pin Haw as it's farm! farm! farm!, but then you get on the moors which is where I grew up! and I am really looking forward to that!.

Yes, the descent was a bit harder than I thought! Also, you were right: I loved the section after Cowling up on the moors, that was one of my favorite bits :)

Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge has massively impacted the Horton / Penyghent area in my opinion. On a nice day it’s a just full of people and it’s a procession round for 20 odd miles. Charities promote it heavily as it raises lots of money for good causes, but the people taking part impact the area a lot. A nice day means thousands of people. And it’s not just chocolate wrappers you find shoved into stone walls. Why people can’t take toilet paper with them is beyond me. Well done on your walk. Smashing it. Love how you’re on the path early and then finished in the early afternoon How’s Otto coping with the miles? He looks a happy tired pup! That ice cream was definitely well earned!

Thank you so much! Yes, that's so true, the toilet paper is a real issue too. Can't understand it and makes me really angry.... Otto is doing great as he's used to hiking. But the weather makes a huge difference. It's definitely harder when it's really sunny because of his black coat!

This is an area where I hiked a lot, the number of people visiting has changed drastically over the years. I love the way Otto throws himself onto his back to have a good scratch. I've just found your channel and enjoying it. I've lived in the Highlands and many years ago walked the Pennine Way. Thanks for taking me on your journey, David

I'm becoming addicted to your videos which are so well shot and edited, and your frank narrative is really refreshing. It is always nice to see Otto and the way that you carefully ensure that his needs are met. Also your planning and attention to detail is really outstanding. Great videos! Thanks for sharing them. Thank you so so much for all your lovely comments, I’ve read them all and they really made my day. So glad that you’re enjoying the videos, even though some of the older ones are not the best quality 😅🫣 I didn’t have a good mic back then and obviously you always get better at editing the more videos you’re doing 😇😅 thank you so much for following along, that means so much :)

Another beautiful video. You're making me fall in love with my home country even more. Did you see the northern lights on Tuesday? Apparently it could be seen as far south as Cornwall.

Aww, thank you so much! The UK is really great for hiking, so many different landscapes 😊 nooo, didn't see them, only on other people's photos 😅😊

Looks like you are enjoying the walks, but I agree that there are too many people throwing their rubbish everywhere. It is hard to believe how totally careless and mindless some people are. It was geeat to see Malham. I visited friends in Yorkshire Dales this October and we walked from Malham Visitor Centre through Malham Cove and a long circular walk up on the rim and the valleys and through Janet's Foss and back to the car. Beautiful area ❤ Thank you for sharing 😊

The scenery just keeps on getting better! 🌄 So pleased that you could see it in the dry. They sound like long hard days, with the heat, elevation changes and stiles, so completely understandable that you didn't enjoy it. But hopefully a great memory to look back on - you aced the PW. Competitive hill climbers, blight the landscape as they all descend on the same locations. I can understand your shock at the litter on Pen y Ghent. The large numbers of anti-social scum are a huge problem in the UK (part of the Americanised culture?) and deeply divisive to society. It's not about education, it's about confrontation and the lack of justice - they know what they're doing - they don't care - and they get away with it. The ~four week dry period normally occurs in March/April - it's my favourite time of the year, marking the end of winter and the start of Spring.

Yes, that's so true! I really loved the southern parts of the Pennine Way a lot :) It was hard too and I struggled, but now that I rewatch the footage with a bit of "distance", I realise how much I actually liked the Pennine Way, how beeautiful it is and that I definitely want to go back. Maybe in a cooler season though :) As for the littre problem: I think you're right with this! Never experienced it this bad, but maybe because people would very likely confront others in Germany when whitnessing someone throwing away their rubbish.....

Unfortunately where ever you find a group of people, you will find rubbish all over WELCOME TO ENGLAND. You're near my patch now as I'm a East Yorkshire guy, and you should be ready for a weather change. Great video once again Ellie, take care and don't let it get you down on them odd days when you just don't feel right. As always you're doing so amazing and that goes for Otto aswel. 😜✌

Hi Ellie, what beautiful blue sky . Like your hoodie which brand is it ? Any good looks good with the mini holes for warmth and breathable. Take care both and another great film
@ellihikes Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, really appreciate it :) The hoodie is from a german company called Outliteside. It's made from a lightweight fleece material (Polartec Alpha). Very breathable, but warm too. Only weighs about 100grams.... :)

It is so nice to watch you walk the same routes that I have done. Walking down Pen y Ghent the way you did is tough, I have only ever walked up that way and it has always been quiet. I couldn't find a campsite in Hawes that allowed dogs - where did you stay?

They filmed a scene from one of the Harry Potter films at the top of Malham Cove. It's a really beautiful place.

Made it this far still watching your epic adventure! That campsite is a place you visit once and never again if you have any sense! 😁 Unfortunately preaching LNT is a pointless activity because people know not to drop litter but they do it in the city and in the countryside those type of people don't care. Also, and it has to be said, irresponsible dog owners are an even bigger problem on trail you just wait until you get down south where the trails are a cesspool of dog 💩 and plastic bags left everywhere.😡 Anyway, sorry for the rant but it has to be said👍 :-)

Urgh, I hate littering. I don't even remotely understand the psychology behind it - what is actually difficult about shoving your food wrapper into your pocket when you're done? Or if it's messy / bulky, how much forward planning does it take to bring something to use as a binbag? You would think that anyone with the wherewithal to get their shoes on the right way around would also be able to figure out how to take their litter home.
