It’s so amazing to see how Otto’s ability to understand scripture has been transformed after he had a personal encounter with Jesus. It really just goes to show that you can read the Bible until you are blue in the face but without faith and the help of the Holy Spirit it won’t make any sense to you. Otto’s insight into the “thunder” was something I had not noticed before! If I could make one suggestion, and this doesn’t necessarily have to be a part of the video, but maybe you guys could continue reading this with some practical application questions following each chapter. For example, you had a discussion about “he who wishes to save his life will lose it” - it would really be going the next step to start thinking about: what parts of my life would I struggle to surrender to Jesus? How can I work on that this week? So not just learning the scriptures but thinking about how you can apply them to your life. For me this always helps immensely. Love your channel so much!

Jesus' riding the donkey into Jerusalem is one of the coolest prophecy fulfillments of all! Daniel predicted that it would be 69 weeks of years from the command to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem until the coming of the King. We know that God works in 360-day years from both Daniel and Revelation. 69 weeks of years is 483 years, or 173,880 days. Nehemiah got permission from King Artaxerxes to rebuild the walls on 14 March, 445 BC. Jesus rode into Jerusalem presenting Himself as King on April 6, 32 AD, exactly 173,880 days later! Really cool precision.

@Schusterspodcast Well hey great minds think alike right? Haha. One funny thing about reading the Bible is realizing that all the secular people that don't like the religion know zero actual info about it.

The Gospel of John is the best movie I know of about Jesus because it's basically 100% scriptural. There's also the Gospel of Luke, but I didn't like how it was narrated the whole way through. The Chosen has to take a lot of creative liberties because it's a whole TV series.

20:34 Jesus was making a straight comparison to biology or farming. What happens when you plant a seed is that the shell literally disintegrates and basically dies and its in that process of dying that it sprouts and after it sprouts it bears fruits with hundreds and more seeds etc and so a forest is born. He basically was saying my death is the main reason or conclusion as to how this church or ministry will come to be. It was in death and ressurection that many believed and his ministry grew beyond him and brought about the billions of believers today

27:12 an interesting perspective to compare to is the parable of the talents Jesus told, and the story of pharaoh in the days of moses. The concept reiterated here is that when you wallow in sin and allow yourself to be overtaken, and continue in it, you reap the fruits of your action. A guy was given a gift and he was unfruitful with it, and even that which he was given was taken back from him. (the talents parable) The pharaoh allowed his pride to fester and God allowed it overtake him so that even though it was clearly the sensible step to concede to moses, he didnt. I think that's what the bible means when it says he blinded their eyes or allows them to be overtaken by their sins. Same way if you practice righteousness and faith you'll be taken by it and end up seeing that youre transformwd into a different person entirely

John 12:27-28. Jesus gave us an example of how we should pray. For every trial and test that comes into our life, we can pray one of two ways. We can pray, "Father save me from this hour." Or we can pray, "Father, glorify your name." The first will lead to disillusionment and doubts and disappoint. But the second will lead you to the wonders of God's purpose and plan for you. Perhaps this trial is the reason you are here on earth at this time - "For this reason I have come to this hour." (vs. 27).

If you would like a crash course covering the entire Bible, I would recommend watching Chuck Missler's "Learn the Bible in 24 Hours." ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/houWmXiJn8SSg5o ) Each lesson is about an hour long. If you watch one each day, you can get a good overview of the entire Bible in 3 1/2 weeks. Chuck is more of a teacher than a preacher and he's very entertaining and packs his lessons with tons of knowledge. Since you're in a study group for young Christians, you could watch these videos with them and pause and comment amongst yourselves as you go. Of course, I have no idea of how you're studying now, so this may not fit in with your setup.

The Jews were not looking for the suffering servant from prophecy they wanted the triumphant military king that Jesus fulfills in Revelation. They wanted Messiah to free them of Romans he wanted to save their souls.
@SchustersinChrist3 ай бұрын
Right, he wasn’t their idea of a Messiah, yet nowhere in the OT did it say the Messiah would be a warrior
