I love my 2038R. It's a great tractor. I had a Kubota 2620 with a three range transmission. I was really hung up on going for a three speed to a two-speed transmission. I now much prefer the two speed on the JD. With the Kubota, practically when snow blowing and bush hogging to some extent, low was far too slow and the medium was too fast.

I have the 2025r and when I use my snow blower sometime snow collects on my front grill which is like a screen and turns to ice and Its really hard to get off the grill I clean it off alot the best I can cuz it restricts air flow I almost damaged the grill trying to get the ice off and snow off the grill thinking about drilling some small holes so the air can get in anyone else have this problem . The front grill should have bigger holes to prevent this .

I have this same tractor and it is my 4th JD and the laws of averages are going to catch up sooner or later. Never thought it would be such a lemon. The whole tractor needs to be painted yellow and not just the wheels. Mine is a 2018 with now 200 hours. Since purchasing, it is continuously breaking. The first time I attempted to connect the loader, the left side would not sit down on the perch. Tractor & Loader was sitting on a concrete slab so uneven ground miss alignment was not an issue. The right hydraulic ram on the right side of the loader snapped off at the rear connection point, and had to be replaced. Had an aviation engineer friend look at the break and his opinion was the steel was not tempered correctly. Dealer replaced the ram & parking stand. Purchased a 3rd function and Frontier Grapple and the control valve on the 3rd function stopped working. Was told the switch in the control had moisture in it and had to be replaced. 1 year warranty that was just out. No love from JD. The actuator that raises and lowers the mower deck quit working and had to be replaced. Not the tractors fault but the return hydraulic line is exposed under the tractor and had a stick punch a hole in the line loosing all hydraulic function. Replacement 3rd function now sticks and is hard to get free. Only after toggling the switch will it finally free itself till the next time it's used. During the first 100 hours the oil level seems to creep up the stick. It is checked before start up every time. My dealer took an oil sample to have checked to see if fuel was getting into the crankcase but they said they never got the results. The engine called for re-gen at 64% while mowing. Normally it would start on its own but not this time. It flagged a message to shut down the engine so I did. After that it ran in limp mode. Back to the dealer for a $500 filter cleaning. I have a new concern that I can't identify. When running and warm I hear a rattle that comes and goes from the front of the engine. Sounds like in the water pump area but can't diagnose. It has had all servicing performed by my local JD dealer and this machine has never been rained on. It stays in the shop when not in use. My previous tractor was a 2320 that never had a repair, just scheduled maintenance. I wish I had kept it but wanted a new ride and a little more HP. I like everything about this machine except I keep having things break that cost me down time & money. If any of you have any suggestions, I'd like to hear you thoughts on this.

Love your videos, could you tell me what the switch place nock outs are for near the command deck controls?

Just for additional switch locations typically. Things like additional lights or on/off for rear electric controls, etc.

I have worked plenty of tractors before most the time in the woods. Not sure it’s great idea to have a fuel tank in rear wheel well. Especially if running chains on tires they tend to carry objects up and into wheel wells.

What is the "float" function on the loader? Also, you mentioned two different mower deck height adjustment levers; could you explain the differences a bit more and when you would use which? Awesome video, thank you!

Hi, float relieves the down pressure on the loader. So, the bucket could glide along the ground. Good if you are plowing with a snow pusher or backdragging and smoothing out some material. One lever raises and lowers the mower deck. The other circle dial adjusts the cut height. When you lower the deck down, it will only go down to whatever position the circle dial is set to.

Do you recommend going with the 2038r over the 2032r if buying the 72” mower deck? Unless operating at max speed while mowing will there be a noticeable difference in performance? I have a 2032r on order with a 72” mower deck and am concerned about lack of performance with the PTO compared to the higher hp 2038r. Not sure if the 2032r will struggle with the larger mower deck

I know Kubota guys say be in Low for using the Loader, Mid for using the Mower and Hi for the Highway (basically just driving around). Which on John Deere do you use the belly mower in? Hi or low?

I normally use in high range. If you're navigating steep terrain or have very bumpy terrain, then low may be better suited.

Why does the bucket on the 2032R flop back and forth? It drives me crazy and is worse on heavy loads. Sometimes spilling the dirt or rock. Then I have to clean it up. I almost wish I'd not bought a JD.

You also have the option to buy the 72". Many find a 72" deck scalps or creates more of an uneven cut. It's a 2 Series tractor and a 60" deck is a very common size on that tractor family.

Why not? That's the setup I have and allows me to get into tight spots vs. 72. If you have a 2-3 acres field that is flat with no trees or obstacles, then obviously get the 72.
