I agree with Mac. More times than not, the splined pulley on top of the transmission that the drive belt goes around, is the issue with the transmission "slipping" in all of the LT models...definitely change it out if you've already gone through the hassle of removing the tranny.

Fixed a problem wirh a "no cranking at start up" by backing off the brakes a bit at a time: Had to stomp on brake pedal to engage safety switch to start...the safety switch barely made contact, so i gave the brakes an adjustment of about an half turn (1/2" socket) out....fixed At first i couldn't find any switch for brake pedal, but thought if I keep stomping to start it, eventually I'd break the primary cable that actuates the brake linkages.😊

When you start to talk about removing the crazy "pull the Dickens out of" tough tension spring on the right side (I know from experience--I made a little hook), it sounds like an air compressor starts up. I think I purchased a belt that was suppose to fit, and it is a little too long. Anyway, I didn't know about how to tighten the belt using the idler pulley. Thank you. Hey, "you-alls" --where ya from? I'm from Pennsylvania and needing a mower other than a John Deere. I have two that I fight with.

The easiest way to work on these is to lift from the side, balancing on two wheels, with the air filter up. Lean it on to a support like a chair and you have easy access to the underside. Mower deck should be removed first.

My JD gets hot stops pulling up hills it will get me back to park it but it when your trying to finishing mowing stupid wait let it cool off to start mowing again takes 3 days to get lawn mowed ? Thank you.?

It sounds like classic belt warming and stretching once hot, all belts get pretty hot when mowing, hope you get it fixed, I would look into getting a new belt and or getting a belt 1 inch shorter than your original to get more tension on it

Did you change the transmission pulley, it has splines that may be damaged.
@mikehughes82 жыл бұрын
No the splines were still good, but it was smooth as glass , so I probably should have replaced it

The dealer tells me my recently bought used LT150 has a "sealed" transmission and the fluid can't be changed. How were you able to do this? Did you have to separate the casing? Or is there some breather opening you could take off, drain and refill? Thanks.

Hey sorry so late it's a plastic black cap take it off and pump fluid out , or take the whole assembly out and turn upside down like I did
@mikehughes82 жыл бұрын
Hey yeah I should have replaced the pulley since how is was smooth as glass, the splines were still good , however I did flip the pulley because the splines were tighter due to how the pulley shaft is designed, I wouldn't recommend flipping the pulley if it isn't the same surface on the bottom as the top though, if it's the same surface minus a 1/8 inch you should be good

Mine is a 150 but is a hydrostatic
@machughes3369 Жыл бұрын
Yeah this is a hydrostatic too in the video , if the belt wears it will slip on hydrostatics just like the old school mowers
