Celebrity is strange to measure and compare, so I don’t know if John Grisham is considered a celebrity by a lot of people’s standards. But that last thing he said was refreshing to hear from a celebrity. With so many actors, actresses, and singers trying to be men and women of the people, I live for the day a celebrity says something like “I have a fantastic life and I’m grateful for it.” I don’t have anything against the rich and famous for being rich and famous, but I do get miffed when they try to get “street cred,” so to speak, before driving their Lamborghinis back to their mansions. Props to Mr. Grisham for recognizing, enjoying, and preserving his success.

Thank you so much to 'The Guardian' for uploading this Grisham interview to KZbin. This is an absolute treat to have Jonathan Freedland talk to John Grisham. Great questions. Interesting responses. Let's have Jonathan Freedland do more interviews like these novelists please...

I love John Grisham's novels, of which I have read many. I am now reading "The Last Juror," an excellent tale of Mississippi in the '70's. However I must point out a bit of an anachronism, when the character Harry Rex displays and fires a Glock, a gun that was yet to be created at the time in which the story is set. A minor flaw, it's true, but a flaw nevetheless. This, of course, does not detract from the excellent quality of this novel.

I love, love, love Grisham’s books. However, his view of the world is so typically bleeding heart liberal, it drives me crazy. I wonder if his home is in the hood, or if he’s got a mansion away from all the grit & crime he so understands and empathizes with.
