Hi John in Lanarkshire! We have "Lanark" in common, since I grew up in Lanark Township, part of Lanark County in Eastern Ontario, with Lanark Village just 10 miles down the road from our farm! You can tell that the post-indigenous settlers came from Lanarkshire!

Sounds crazy as he's won it all, so many times over and over such a long period of time. But I think he's maybe a world title short of what his talents and game warrant. He was THAT good in his pomp.
@pyrrhicvictory6978 Жыл бұрын
Hes been in 3 world finals recently and lost them all, he was also in 3 ranking finals not long ago and lost them all from whilst being in front. The one against Robertson was pretty bad as he was 9-4 and lost 10-9. Against Wilson in world championship recently that was one of his best performances in sometime, but then seemed to bottle it against Selby after being 4-1 up. I just think Higgins isn't as strong mentally anymore, hes choked quite a big leads in big finals in the past few years. Theres no way Higgins in his prime loses all these finals after being well in front.
@chriswilliamson7694 Жыл бұрын
@@pyrrhicvictory6978 , yeah he's definitely become a shaky clincher of winning positions these past few years. The world final to Selby in 2017 was another bad one, as Selby couldn't possibly have played any worse on that first day and Higgins let him off the hook badly to be only 7-10 down overnight. I just knew Selby was going to grind him down in the last two sessions after that.
@davecooper6540 Жыл бұрын
I personally believe in snooker the upper echelon such as Hendry, O’ Sullivan, Williams, Higgins and a couple more they’re all around the same level. The absolute pinnacle of the sport. The only thing that separates them is the amount of world titles but the best player doesn’t always win in tournaments. No doubt in my mind that they’re all very similar in terms of snooker skills & talent.

Crazy that he got the the quarter-finals of the world champs this year given the season he had. And thanks to his shock 13-2 win (or the shock scoreline) against Kyren Wilson, and a surprisingly comfortable 10-3 win over David Grace (who before the WSC, had actually had a better season than John according to the one year list), he dropped just 5 frames in doing so. Crazy game.

I loved the 1998 John Higgins. He's done great with his B game, but I miss the way he could play back then. Still see that form occasionally, but he can't sustain it for long, so I think 4 world championships is about right.

As a guy who's played John, If you're reading this John I've personally felt for a long while now the tip diameter is a little too big, (one example) harder to play a thin safety from distance with bigger tip and judge swinging side, I also think bridge has become a little too close, I heard Stephen Maguire had advised to shorten it but imo. it can interfere with sighting of shot from distance esp. also getting through the ball is less compact and prone to deceleration.
