I wouldn’t say Dawkins has “mellowed”. After seeing him mock and say very disgraceful things about Prof. Lennox in an online interview with a Danish atheist KZbinr (and others on different occasions)…I lost all respect for Dawkins! I have people in my family and dear friends that are atheists, but we still show one another kindness and respect! Christopher Hitchens’ brother gave an interview after his brother’s passing stating that he still held to his atheistic beliefs. Thankfully, they reconciled before his passing, but you could tell his brother was still hurt at the thought of Christopher departing from this world without knowing our Lord and Savior! I also saw an interview with C. Hitchens stating as much, even though he did mention that he certainly did contemplate faith after getting cancer. But, as Dr. Lennox points out…we can never know what truly happens just before someone passes from this world! I certainly believe we need to be kind to one another. Forcing our views down someone else’s throat is only going to galvanize them against Christ! God gives us a choice. He never forces us to choose…quite the opposite…He gives us free moral agency to choose for ourselves. As a Christian, the righteous path is to be patient and allow the Holy Spirit to work - even if we disagree with another. We need to try even harder to befriend those of differing beliefs. More often than not, we share far more in common, just as Prof. Lennox and Justin stated. After all, Christ was kind to the very people who crucified him! I could only wish to hold even a fraction of such compassion! MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!!🎄🇨🇦🎄

@@zhengfuukusheng9238 Hi Zheng - I never start these messages, as a “debate”! I only made the point that NO ONE should “disrespect” one another! I love my family dearly - including those who choose to be Atheist. I LOVE them just as much, even though they believe differently…otherwise…I/We wouldn’t have very many friends or family, if we expected them to believe as we do! As for Dr. Christopher Hitchens, I believe he was a far different person amongst family and friends (like many people - myself included), there is the persona of what the public perceive and hare privy to, and the “personal” side to any public figure. I think it’s only fare ! However, I think It’s unkind and unfair to say such rude things about Christopher’s brother! They patched things up and reconciled in the end, which was important for them both! So, I’m happy his children will know their uncle and be able to be a part of their lives! Sometimes, it’s unfortunate, but illness and death brings the important aspects of life into focus…as it did for both brothers and family! The following has no religious overtones- I simply want to wish you, and your love ones a very MERRY CHRISTMAS🎄and a prosperous, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!✨☃✨

@@shelleyhender8537 I agree with your sentiments on the whole. But here's the thing; I have buffoons in my own family and I still love them dearly Being a buffoon doesn't preclude one from being loved. One can be a "loveable buffoon" I firmly believe Peter Hitchens talks a lot of nonsense (in spite of being a diplomat to Russia for 17 years, he believed they would not attack Ukraine ....just one example) But I'm sure he's "morally" quite a good person. If I met him socially I'm sure we'd be able to engage in a civil convo. No, my opprobrium, in reality, is directed towards con-artists, murderers dictators liars etc etc. In this respect I have higher regard for PH than for Lennox whom I consider to be a bad faith actor Hope that clarifies things a bit. The problem with being stuck in any religion, is that you will always make your perception of science, fit into sync with your religious persuasions … as your faith in your religious dogmas will always take the dominant role. For instance, back in the day, people were certain that disease was caused by the creator being angry at evil human behavior. It wasn’t true … but that didn’t matter … because the people had complete faith that it WAS true. Another example: If a scientist is asked the question, “Do you believe that the universe was created?” … and the scientist says “yes” … that is NOT science. That is religion trying to OWN science. People in religion don’t believe that religion and science should … or even could be … separated … because the need … the absolute urgency … to believe that a creator exists that aligned science to the creator’s own purpose … is inseparable in people that have faith in the “existence” of a creator.

Re his firm conviction about Jesus. But what would God think if he actually had NOT revealed himself in Christ? What if Christians are wrong? Sure there is a lot of circumstantial evidence for that...lots of writings the details of which can't really be confirmed beyond the writings themselves. But it seems no Christian...or at least not many ...actually ever entertain the serious notion that maybe they're wrong and have put too much emphasis and relied too much on the religious pamphlets and tracts known as the NT gospels and letters. Those are written specficially TO promote a specific religous view and the authors might have strongly believed what they were writing, but many write things they strongly believe but that are rejected by Christians because the Christians are sure their strong beliefs based on their interpretation of what they've read/observed are mistakes. The most common rsp to 'what if you're wrong' from Christians is 'so what, if I'm wrong, I'll just die and I've lived a better life as a Christian than I would've as an atheist.' But that assumes only two alternatives...Christianity vs Atheism. What if both are wrong? What if there is a god but not the Christian God?
@rizdekd3912
@rizdekd3912 Жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, it may be that the God of the bible may be as concerned with physical defects...ie 6 fingers vs 5 fingers as he is about rape or any other sin. In Leviticus it appears to suggest that anyone with a deformity (and it lists a few) may not approach to offer the food of his God. Why would there be a distinction between who can make offerings if God didn't notice deformity and have an opinion of what it says about the person? Of course the initial response is that no one can choose to not be deformed but they can choose not to rape so it wouldn't be fair to punish folks with deformities. But is making things fair something God is concerned about? Humans think fairness is important, but since God is the arbiter of all values/morality, then God can say whatever he wants about 'fairness.' But the fact that I imagine Justin would firmly believe fairness was important would lead me to believe that Justin and other Christians believe there ARE good reasons that rape is wrong, ie it isn't fair to force sex on someone, and that there are no good reasons to think the number of fingers (potential deformity) is wrong. It is those reasons that mean rape is wrong, and not just the God said so. And presumably even a god has to have reasons why something is wrong and can't just arbitrarily make one thing wrong and another thing right without any reasons. I mean a god could, but then what would make that god good?

THIS IS THE LAW BY WHICH ALL UNIVERSAL CREATION SHOULD FOLLOW. All kinds of things to live. They need a bridge to connect them. 1) When the Creator created the universe (Space-Time and Matter), he connected space and matter in time. Without Time to connect space and matter, the universe would collapse. 2) After God created man in his image (Spirit, Soul, Body), if there was no soul to the bridge that connected the spirit and body, man would not be alive. That’s why, when a person dies, the body returns to the soil because the human soul is a bridge, leaving the human body. 3) When the Creator first established marriage in the Garden of Eden (Male Love Female) if there was no invisible thing called love, the thing that binds two different sexes together, they would not have lived together. That is why when the bridge of love between husband and wife breaks down, husband and wife are separated and divorced. 4) If the Creator had not used the cross as a bridge to save the man whom the Creator had expelled from the Garden of Eden and bring him back into his presence, (Jesus + Christ) as a bridge, man would have been lost forever. 5) Until a bridge is formed between (the two cities) divided by the great sea and the river, these people would not meet and cross the water to do their business and living together What can we learn from this? Everyone on earth will end up without him unless he comes through the bridge of life that God has prepared for mankind to come to him. They will not reach because Jesus Christ is the only bridge (hypostatic union) of life that leads to the abode of God after death. Another bridge (Any religion) does not lead to heaven, because it is a broken bridge. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, (1 Timothy 2:5)

Theists believe in God, Athiests believe in "subconscious motives", both are adopted without evidence (lexical-based motive theories are far less congruent with reality than most religious accounts) . Athiests often excuse a profound degree of missing causal information with magical thinking possessing no explanatory power . Iv never encountered a rational theist or athiest , they are precisely of the same tribalistic mentality and astounding delusions of insight. Athiests often assume I'm a theist, which illuminates their existence as mere automata incapable of assessing evidence. Belief in God is irrelevant, unless upon entering a building you frantically seek it's architect, I don't care how old the Universe is or how it began as it has no bearing upon this limited span of life I have and I'm not arrogant enough to assume I'd understand it , assuming a God or an absolute constancy in adherence to our limited perceptual differentiation defines mindless automation.

Nothing Can Survive Singular It is only in a huge Mass form can anything survive and succeed. The Great Creator and the Spirit Energy Source. This Is For Those Who Are Honest Proof is only understood by the Honest. Honesty is the beginning of wisdom. The Great Designer and Creator, The spirit Energy Source, Matter, Knowledge, Energy, Time and Space Has Always Existed. All are Without Beginning or end. Beginning and End only reveals an absence. However the Universe did have a beginning. It is a very complex and Intelligent Designed. And the Universe is very old. Creation is only the rearrangement of matter as Matter does not evolve from nothing. Truth is All That Truly Exists Other Than Truth there is Just The understood Concept of An Absence. Lies with intent to deceive or not is fantasy. Lies remain in the nonexistent realm. Nothing is created without Intelligent Design. Your cell phone did not grow on a tree. And you did not create yourself. The Great Creator is far more Massive and complex than the God worshipers realize and understand. The Great Creator is not a being somewhere in space. The Great Creator is a huge mass of spirits in perfect unity. And with the same care and love for each another. It is the complex intelligent design of creation of the Universe Where in we Live That truly proves Intelligent Design of Life. The Universe was Designed for life on this Earth. Love and Care for All Other as You Would Like to be Loved and Cared for. It is the basic of Justice. It is the only success for humanity. Truth is not freedom. Truth has absolute boundaries'. Justice comes only by the truth. Freedom has absolutely no boundaries', freedom is chaos. Gods Are Imaginary Personages Of Worship Gods are not creators. There are Hundreds of Gods that the human has worshipped. Fathers are not creators. It takes both father and Mother to create a child and the mother has more to do with the creation than does the father. The child is attached to the mother for nine months receiving nutriments for the creation. Religion has refused to give Honest respect to the female. And they have exalted the male, with the Lie that the Father is the creator of the child. Science Lacks Understanding The Spirit Energy Source. Spirit Is The Highest Energy Source. The basic principles of Christianity is corrupt and promotes Injustice. sentencing and Executing an innocent man for the crimes of all humanity. and they promote Cannibalism by a ritual that they pretend they are eating Jesse's flesh and drinking his blood. Jesus: The man Christianity worship refused to kill any Human and taught to love and care for all humans by in the book they worship. The Great Creator performs Justice. You all will face your own consequences for your corruption and crimes. You will not pin them on an innocent man. Most would understand better if they had experienced the many Miracle in my 90 Years on this earth. The most outstanding was George Neigh and his Daughter that had a special spiritual gift of filling hollow teeth with gold or silver. five had a diamond imbed in the filling. His Daughter would invite people to watch the metal pour into the hollow tooth. However, The gift of filling teeth as George and his daughter had, is no greater than the technology that the Gifts humans have received from the spiritual realm of the Great Creator; in the medical professions and communication. A great many lives have been save by the gift of the medical professions. The Gift of Understanding Knowledge is far more practical and beneficial to Humanity Than Georges' Gift of filling teeth. In fact George was very upset with people trying to use him as a Dentist; Coming to his house asking to have their tooth filled. His gift was only to show the spirit energy source; Not to take the place of a dentist. Honesty and understanding is the only true belief. Without honesty and understanding we do not know what to believe. To accept other’s opinion of the truth without proving it to yourself; it is being deceived it is not believing. We must understand to believe. Truth will solve all our problems before we create them; and ignore or reject the truth; problems will multiply all by themselves; those problems will need no help. Have a great and a meaningful life if it is at all possible. Just whispers, of the Ghost of Reality.

Faith does have 2 meanings. and not the ones John cites. One is religious as in Hebrews 11:1 which rather daringly asserts you need to believe even in the absence of any evidence, and then there is justified expectation based on induction and deduction such as if I drop the pen it will fall, or the chair will support me. Atheist do NOT have faith in version one and the same as everybody else in version two. No atheism isn't something you believe, its a lack of belief in theistic claims made by others, so John's Gotcha moment is nothing of the sort.

I was wondering if Professor Lennox has done some study on supplements or treatments that help prevent another stroke as I admire his ability to study and make logical conclusions from the evidence. I spent 5 weeks in the hospital, my left hand was completely paralyzed the first few days but now is almost as strong as my right hand. My mind was scrambled, eyesight was not able to focus on things to the left of me. Bumped into a few walls in the hospital the first week or 2 hehe. I'm still having trouble with reading comprehension and memory and steadily but slowly improving. I also have AtriaI fibulation of the heart that likely triggered the stroke. Asked my family doctor if I should take Nitric Oxide because what I read made it seem promising to help clean out blockages of my arteries, but he said he doesn't recommend taking it. I've got an appointment with my stroke doctor to get a 2nd opinion. Guess i should find Prof. Lennox's email if he doesn't read these comments. Or if there is someone with experience with stroke prevention reading this I'd really appreciate some advice. Thank you.

Weird way to put it. Science is concerned with what's _true,_ which doesn't seem to be a major focal point of theists in my experience (ie when you ask them for evidence of a god and they provide an illogical argument and you explain the bad logic to them, they basically always ignore that, and that's my basis for saying they don't seem to value truth). So religion doesn't seem to be the same coin at all to me. Feels like science is trying to look at the coin (reality/truth), while religion is holding up a paper in front of the coin and repeating what it reads in a book, but those statements don't actually seem to match reality.
