it’s a vibe for sure… first heard this song in the car as a 6 year old kid, the nostalgia hits hard for sure. my mom was a huge mayer fan and would play room for squares and heavier things in the car whenever we’d run errands. but it wasn’t until my teenage years where i rediscovered mayer and i’m so grateful i did.

Heavier Things brings me back to such a happy time in my life. I was working a crappy job with no future. I had nothing to my name and zero idea what lay ahead of me. But I had great coworkers, I was meeting the most diverse people, and was having the time of my life. I’m feeling very nostalgic lately. (I do love my husband and children. But sometimes I temporarily miss the carefree days).

Yes. We try our best to find a sound and I might make it mine and tomorrow I might hate myself, and tomorrow I might not be the same, but the music lives on, and the sun is still shining. So I might just hate myself Tomorrow. I might still never accomplish my dreams. But tomorrow I will out play em, out yell em, out shine them. So who's the man? The sun is still shining. Exceptional to be honest! The lyrics are fantastic and extremely inspiring! As much as i like to see John evolve, i will always have a speciel place in my heart for Room for Squares and Heavier Things, it's just two pop albums that exceed so much out there, truly plays with the imagination of a great songwriter

John Mayer did not write a song about other people adoring him, at least not this one. This is a song about adoring oneself which means that I appreciate my immediate self and I appreciate other people/things around me, which are an extension of my self. This is a song that transcends the desire to be noticed and admired and adored by others. This song is a song about personal empowerment. The adoration/admiration happens as a side effect of being such a beast!

Here's how I see it: A lot of people have something special about them, and a lot of people might notice these traits, but they don't really see the person, just what they create. But sometimes someone will come along and see past that, and see the person as well as what they do, and put two-and-two together...and wonder why no one else sees it.

Why yes. Yes it is. Though if you want to be metaphorical, it's easier to convey the "perfect person for you", in a music VIDEO, as an attractive one rather than trying to display their character and make you see them as perfect through that.

Lyrics: This is a call to the colorblind This is an IOU Stranded behind a horizon line Try to be something true Yes, I'm grounded Got my wings clipped I'm surrounded by All this pavement Guess I'll circle While I'm waiting For my fears to dry Someday I'll fly Someday I'll soar Someday I'll be Something much more Cause I'm bigger than my body Gives me credit for Why is it not the time? What is there more to learn? I've shed this skin I've been tripping in And I've never quite returned Yes, I'm grounded Got my wings clipped I'm surrounded by All this pavement Guess I'll circle While I'm waiting For my fuse to dry Someday I'll fly Someday I'll soar Someday I'll be Something much more Cause I'm bigger than my body Gives me credit for Cause I'm bigger than my body now Maybe I'll tangle in the power lines And it might be over in a second's time But I'll gladly go down in a flame If the flame's what it takes to remember my name To remember my name, oh Yes, I'm grounded Got my wings clipped I'm surrounded by All this pavement Guess I'll circle While I'm waiting For my fuse to dry Someday I'll fly Someday I'll soar Someday I'll be Something much more Cause I'm bigger than my body Gives me credit for Cause I'm bigger than my body Bigger than my body Bigger than my body now
