I too have done terrible things. I've been abusive, narcissistic and have acted out harming the people that have loved me since I was a little kid. This gives me hope that I can truly get through my addiction and change my life for good. I pray to God that I can be turned in an agent of good and have a positive impact on the lives of people around me. Thank you for this podcast.

Keep on keeping on man…just to let you know, making conscious choices with the imagery template is so much more fulfilling than scratching the itch. All dogs go to heaven by the way. ❤

Excellent Podcast. I am in the process of passing away **unless when I go back on antibiotics for a systemic infection (I have auto immune) and have been watching a ton of utube this past year *(never really watched before 2 years);these podcasts very much positively impact me. This podcast is very human…inspiring, soothing almost…you C A N change. What a gift to and want to change the very fabric of who you have been conditioned to be. Excellent.

That is a terrifying thought to even think about a Judge saying that!!! I have been to hell several times and I’ve been back for two decades. Drugs bs everything. Now I have learned to enjoy the simple things in life.

HUGE fan of the show and everything you a doing Rich. Can I just say one thing - the first half of this second interview is simply going over the majority of the first interview with John. It's an incredible story of course - but for the benefit of old time listeners - I was expecting to deep dive into more of his life past & present - to compliment forward the first episode. There is nothing wrong with sending new listeners back in time to get their foundation before bringing them back. The time spent with these guests is pure gold - and I did think I'd learn so much more. Still an incredible episode - not a negative comment - more just feedback. Peace & plants :D

I love John's story, I'm always mindful of the prison PT/guard who recognised the potential and drew it out of him. The power of mentors and coaches never more obvious.

Hi Rich, I've been listening to your podcasts for about 3 years and I just love how broad variety of topics you offer to your audience. Your guests are always such interesting individuals and whenever I want to learn more about certain topic, instead of searching Google I first search your podcast archive :) I've been vegan for 5 years and I've been always interested in nutrition, health, environmental issues as well as deep philosophical questions. When I listened to this episode, I really liked John's approach towards doing something that isn't 100% in line with his belief - he just wouldn't do it. I kinda thought you would agree to that and it always seemed so. Then I listened to one of your older episodes where you mentioned that you didn't want to play ads in the middle of the podcast because you want the audience to enjoy the conversation uninterrupted and you just didn't think it's right. Well, now I feel like listening to your podcasts is becoming similar to watching TV - every 20 minutes there's an ad. I wonder if your values changed or you just forgot. It seems to me like this podcast might be getting on a slippery slope and I really hope that's not the case and you'll stay true to yourself and won't sell the quality of your show for more ads! I put the comment to this episode because I think you might want to take John for an example :)

@John - it's amazing you are targeting to win the 2,500 km RAF. I did the unsupported solo 500 km RAF this year which for me, really tested my limits. For 2023, I am planning to up the ante to the 1,000 km option. Looking forward to seeing you at the finish line.

Where do the animals go when we die? .... I believe we are all on a journey to enlightenment, including the animals! For what it is worth when I asked a very wise Tibetan friend this question he explained it in the context of reincarnation, interconnection and evolution...

just watched the Roll Back ... so psyched as I start this episode .. I don't think you've produced anything that hasn't inspired me, but this is the one of the most inspiring personal stories since Finding Ultra, It's Not About the Bike, and other seminal works.

It really pisses me off when I hear armed robbers described as amazing men. Yeah he’s turned it around and so he should given the harm he’s caused. I appreciate him for turning this around, but let’s not carried away with our descriptions. He owes and he is paying.

You missed out on an inspiring story of redemption, inspiration and the power of the human spirit because some people believe animal cruelty is wrong. This is true weakness.

Places don't change people. People don't change people. We are who we are. Hank Moody, Californication How many people do you know that did the same things as Jonh and did not change like Jonh did? Rich is looking at the tree and overlooking the forest. You cannot escape your genes (the vast majority of time). Unless you have an environmental stimulus that refers you from your genetic path. Society as it stands cannot provide this for everyone. That's why there are good people turning bad, bad people Turing good etc.
