I think it's a pretty good measure of a decent man when he speaks honestly and admiringly of his wife (spouse or partner, too), that his stories about her tell as much about her as him, and his love and respect for her are readily apparent. That was how I feel about Obama, and Colbert, and now Mulaney.

Samuel Robles add the MacElroys, and I’m there! It could be the best adventure zone episode tour ever!. Kind of like “on the road” with less serious poets. Or more serious...with less confidence? (I only mention that because many comics learn to hone their trade with coping mechanisms learned in reaction to rough upbringings that include abuse or some sort of unstable home life. A lot of the comics from the previous generation were open about unstable childhoods and parents who were addicts or abusive or violent in some way -so a way to deal with unhappiness was to create comedy or use it as a defense or a way to make friends by having people laugh and seek approval )

All interviews are like that - the guest tells a few stories to a production assistant, who goes over them with the host in advance so he knows what the guest wants to talk about. Normally the story wouldn't then turn up in a comedy special, so it wouldn't be so obvious :)

@shardsofcontent4829
@shardsofcontent4829 7 жыл бұрын
Uh. Sort of straight forward but a very John Mulaney "out of left field" reference. Trump is the horse in a hospital, but it's never really been seen before. The media is always on the move trying to find new angles on the issue, so they bring in a guy who's "seen a bird in an airport" for comment. But it's irrelevant and has no real relation to a horse in a hospital. Yeesh. Just kills the brilliance of it to explain it though. Sorry everybody.
@boxxfilms52
@boxxfilms52 7 жыл бұрын
Rob Wiens well I clearly got that Trump was the horse... Mulaney even said "Trump is like a horse in a hospital". and I got that the horse catcher is Comey. I just didn't know if there was a specific person or moment that he was referencing when talking about the bird in the airport

"I have fired the horse catcher" John Mullaney just made me see a talking horse with a terrible blonde comb-over. The analogy of a horse lose in a hospital is so perfect it could just go on forever. News: the horse is now in the ICU. Viewers: what's it doing in there!? It could really cause some serious damage. Someone should coax the horse onto a safer floor where it can't bother anyone.

Stephen wants to be friends with Mulaney, but Mulaney doesn't see it, and Stephen can't tell if Mulaney feels the same way, so he courts him with personal anecdotes and compliments and Mulaney deflects them with jokes and both of them are too polite and Catholic to talk about their feelings. Their wives should get together and sort this out because it's awkward and they should be friends because they have so much in common. /I have put way too much thought into this and watched this interview too many times because I'm creepy.

He offers you a glass full of poison and says it’s good but the drink is labeled poison in bold letters all over the glass. The man lies as though it’s his native tounge, but honestly doesn’t speak any language well. And he’s In love with all the ruthless dictators, coming over to them like he’s their personal lap dog. And even before he was president we knew he had a crush on ruthless dictators, “grabbed women by the pussy” and started his bid for president by calling most Mexicans drug dealers and rapists. He had nothing to offer from square one.

@@melaniegrant855 No, actually. I don't refer to them as sheep, I refer to sheep as sheep. I refer to anyone, regardless of their affiliation, that chooses to selectively curate their information instead of getting their news from multiple biased sources and cross-referencing the stories to see what matches up. Anyone that only listens to leftist news or right leaning news and forms their opinions based on what the rest of the tribe thinks. Base minded sheep. That's what they are. It's pathetic and sorry behavior. If you think that Trump hasn't done a lot of good since coming into office, then you're a sheep. If you hate Trump so much that you can't even cheer for prison reform or tightening border security which will lead to less human trafficking, then you're a sheep. If you think building a border wall is racist or detaining families is cruel, but didn't hold those same opinions when Barack Obama did and proposed those exact same things and to much greater extremes, then you're a sheep.
