I appreciate Packer's gentle humility when trying to answer Piper's question about where believers in Christ would be living in "the life to come." Packer admits that he doesn't know enough and that "...the Bible doesn't tell me enough" as he proceeded to answer what he did know at the time of his learning. If only other prominent Calvinists would be humble enough to admit where the Bible doesn't speak fully on topics where they pretend it does...

My husband & I were blessed to study at Trinity Theological College in Bristol in the 70s. Dear Jim Packer was Vice Principal at the time, with the lovely Alec Motyer as Principal. What an honour and privilege we had, knowing these 2 wonderful, Godly men.

@@AtamMardes in the context of a God who has all power and authority telling us that it is so. If we are not in submission to His will, none of His word will make sense to those who are perishing- 1 Cor. 1:18. There will always be injustice on this fallen world until it is remade when Christ returns, do you know how you will be justified when it matters as you stand before your creator and judge? Will all of your self-Agra fixed notions of right and wrong convince the Ancient of Days of something He overlooked in His grand design? The original sin in the garden of Eden was man’s disregard for Gods command and explanation of what right and wrong are. Man chose to do what he thought was right and we’ve been doing so ever since. Praise be to Christ who died that we might be reunited with God!! I am praying for you friend!

24:52 is so good to chew on. Soteriological Calvinism is something to chew on, distinct from the fullness of Reformed theology - particularly, thinking about the Reformation not just as the 5 Solas, nor soteriological definitions, nor imputation of active obedience alone, but, the whole life lived in submission to the whole Christ, with a reformation of ecclesiology and the clarity of soteriology, anthropology, and teaching authority in the Church.

Jesus said always ask for evidence before believing something. Resurrection is a supernatural extraordinary claim. The resurrection of Dionysus, Osiris, and Attis were all hoaxes. *Question:* Does anyone have evidence (not just books or opinions of scholars) to prove decades after Jesus and his disciples were dead, the hoaxer Christian writers didn't create a Jesus resurrection hoax, by making up fake backdated stuff like a fake empty tomb story, fake eyewitnesses, fake testimonials, and a fake story that apostles witnessed a risen Jesus?
@shawnmoose6119

atam mardes The Apostles wrote the NT before they died. That can be proven by historical fact. So, I am not sure I get the statement “after the disciples died... the hoaxer Christian writers wrote...” But I would love to help if you are willing to listen with an open ear.

@@AtamMardes you still haven't responded to this so posting it again. You've given no information, legitimate or otherwise, just an opinion and inaccurate understanding. Must be you who needs smartening up! As I keep highlighting, You mention a hoax so tell us who's saying it's a hoax? What information or evidence are you basing your statement on? What sources do you have in order to make such a statement? What research have you done in order to have that opinion? What information have you actually gathered? You have no evidence for your opinion so why ask some from us, only to then ignore it? The irony here atam is that you're the one without evidence 😂 You must have been brought up as an atheist as you clearly don't know the first thing about Jesus, the Bible and Christianity. You've formed an opinion based on nothing, that makes you the one who is ignorant and gullible. You need to be clear on your own position but you have not been able to defend it so I suggest you go and do some reading and come back when you have something meaningful to contribute. I've offered you video links but you wouldn't click on them. I referred you to both Christian and non-Christian writings from the time but not only have you not checked them you claim they were made up, with no proof. I offered you modern writings and research and you wouldn't look at those either. I even offered to send you books and a Bible but you didn't take up the offer. You are clearly asking a question that you don't actually want the answer to! Pretty childish really, no? 😂

I enjoyed J.I.Packer's answers until he got to the 'unnatural' question (Rom.1:24-28), when he seemed fearful to point out, that procreation is God's purpose for mankind, and placing the 'seed' any where but where it was designed to be placed, is 'against nature', and to God the Creator is 'abominable' in His sight, the only Sight that matters (Rev.21:8, 27, Heb.4:13)!!!

Dude... What? I think you should rewatch that part. Packer's view was pretty much what you are saying. He said that pleasure shouldn't be dissociated with reproduction (even quoting the catholic tradition in order to do so). That's the same thing as saying "procreation is God's purpose for mankind, and placing the 'seed' any where but where it was designed to be placed, is 'against nature'" And he didn't hesitate in any way. Now, what you might find wrong and disagree with is Piper's view on this podcast: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iavMnn6af7CcbLM If not, than please point to the time stamp where Packer seemed to contradict what you believe.

@@fabiosousa8750 At times Packer seems a bit fearful to declare truth, and I still have my guard up, if he was bullied into signing PACT or not. The righteous are 'as bold as a lion', and Rev.21:8 places the 'fearful and unbelieving' together. Notice verse 7... I also disapprove of Piper not allowing Packer to finish his answers, but was butting in too soon every time...sadly
