Pastor Rick Warren is, in my opinion, amazing beyond words. His faithfulness toward God is awe inspiring to many. Because he is faithful, God has multiplied His kingdom through his calling and that of his wife Kay. His teaching is God glorifying, simply biblical, divinely anointed, powerful and very relevant. God has blessed Pastor Rick with such great mind. I praise God for having raised such a man of God. His influence is widespread and global, all for the glory of God.

i love when Rick warren humbly said I have no brain capacity to understand God . .. well Amen. God is God and let Him be God . .. He even said : Nobody can fathom what he has prepared for those who believe in Him. ... Jesus is perfecter and finisher of our Faith.❤️❤️❤️ Calvinism Armenism . What we missed out is Really shifting our focus in Jesus and glorify God as long as we breathe. Its not about which theology ....Jesus also said that whoever preach His name let him do it . we are all different bodies of christ with different functions but our main focus and purpose is JESUS . ... we only make it complicated ... shifting the focus away from Jesus ... 😢

John Piper is polite enough, but you can sense a tone in this interview as if he is the authority( I am aware he doesn't claim that) questioning Rick to make sure he views doctrine as Piper believes. With that said at least he gives Rick a hearing as opposed to others who just attack him for not be Christian enough. Rick makes a great point about his book in the beginning in who the book was written for. And I love his general approach of meeting people where they are, building a bridge to the heart. Protestants, well intentioned or not, are full of contradictions. They seemingly make themselves the infallible interpreter of the Bible and Christian doctrine all the while decrying the Catholic claim to be in sole possession of such infallibility. Their source for all condemnation is the Bible something handed down to them by the Catholic Church. This is an inescapable fact of history. What is also inescapable is that when you leave Papal infallibility and the magesterium of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church all you are left with is your own personal infallibility. Who is right, John MacArthur, James White, John Piper, Jimmy Swaggart, Robert Shueller, Billy Graham, Martin Luther......well you get the idea. If you truly believe that God intended for us all to be individually infallible seekers of the truth then fine but you have no logical reason for thinking the Church is any less infallible then your self. To use the Church's book though to attempt to refute the Church is illogical and a form of demonic deception.

Why does everyone miss what the Lord is talking about in not wanting anyone to perish. ? Its right here clearly. (that the father gives to the son will not perish) John 6:44 "For no one can come to me (Jesus) unless the Father who sent me draws them to me. John 10:28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. John 10:29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. John 6:37 -39 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. Ephesians 1:5 God (The Father) decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ (The Son). This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone (the Father gave to the son) to perish, but everyone (the Father gave to the son) to come to repentance.

What proof is there that Rick Warren promotes chrislam? If he is straying away from biblical doctrine then pray for him. What did people expect Pastor Piper to do in this interview? Would people enjoy watching Piper insult Warren or beat him? As Christians we must correct each other in love, In LOVE. Any correcting should not be done on a you tube video. Piper is not called to embarrass another Christian neither are we. So for those of you criticizing Piper; Shame on you! So I watch this video and listen to what I think is the heart of Rick Warren and it sounds like he is a solid believer and he claims he is all about evangelism and spreading the gospel and not at all interested in political views so I'm thinking that what I've heard against him is wrong....... THEN I look at a video of him talking for about a half hour to a group of Muslims so I think, "Ahhh, he's going to share the Gospel with them...NOPE... He stresses the need of corporation and a setting aside of differing beliefs to accomplish humanitarian goals with the help of governments........ WHAT??? That is not the great commission...... Now I'm swinging back the other way... I'm believing what people are saying... He does speak from both sides of his mouth. But, for the moment, I"m going to control myself a bit and do more research... I don't want second hand info from anyone; I want videos of him either setting the record straight or burying himself.

william ziemer William, I am a missionary in Africa. My life is committed to Christ. I am a born again, Spirit filled believer. I believe that there is no other name under heaven by which man can be saved. That said, I have come to respect the Muslim community. Muslims, where I am, are kind, generous and attempt to walk righteously. It may be under a legal authority - not by grace, but their "works" are far more impactful than the majority of Christians that I know. That, to me, is very sad. They do not look down on me as a Christian. They, in fact, honor me. They know about my Christ. If they know about Christ, it is up to the Holy Spirit to do his work, not for me to beat them up every time I see them. I was walking down the street the other day and a Muslim family was walking to their mosque. I can't explain it, but something deep in my heart spoke to me. It was so pure and clear, I just can't put it to words to describe, but what I heard was "I love them." Jesus talks about loving everyone - our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as our enemies (or the enemies of Christ) - He so loved the world. I don't mean to preach, but I am more concerned about how much the Church spends in putting up walls instead of breaking them down. Read most posts on Facebook or see the KZbin videos and see what Christians write...about Christians. "...but the greatest of these is love."

Aleph TV? Really? Is that your real name? No problem if it is, it just doesn't sound like a person's name but the world is very big. Since you are responding to what I said, I can only assume that, to some degree, you are in favor of Christians sharing a worship service with Muslims and if that's the case, I have to question your (born-again, Spirit filled, committed to Christ) statement. God called me to live in Guatemala and this is where I've been for the past 18 years. Don't see too many Muslims here but I see a lot of Catholics who are very friendly, kind, helpful, giving people. Some of it may be out of legalism or dedication to Mary, I don't know. I'm sick to the heart and angered every time I hear the bands start to play or the Mayan piper and drummer, as another parade floods through the streets and people pay homage to statues of the saints, Mary or Jesus as they pass by on the shoulders of the beguiled. Many of them are friends of mine and they know that I am not Catholic. I don't preach to them but I speak openly about my faith to them. Though they have been grievously mislead and have built their houses for years using wood, hay and stubble, still their foundation is Christ crucified and a belief in the resurrection. I do not respect the Catholic Community; I hate what it stands for in fact; I love individuals not groups. In the same way, I can show the love of Christ to (a) homosexual but I have no respect for the homosexual community. The “Homosexual Community” is Antichrist in nature; the Catholic Church is Antichrist in nature; the Muslim Community is Antichrist in nature… I have no respect for any of them but I love any individual of them. You do realize that Muslims are antichrist in their doctrine right? You don't think for a second that "Allah" is the Arabic translation for "Yahweh" do you? Of course the Holy Spirit would say, "I love them"; Jesus came for those who need a doctor and those who know they need a doctor will go to be healed and He will heal them. We, as Disciples of Christ must love every individual that comes to us; no argument there. But we have no business going to bed with those who reject Christ while making every effort to act as if we are on the same page just because they (SAY) they believe in Jesus. The question is, "What Jesus do you believe in?" Some people readily believe in "another Jesus" as Paul pointed out but we should not. You say that everything is cool where you live? Can you stand in the market place and tell people the good news of the crucifixion and resurrection? Are there Christian cathedrals and Jewish temples? But whatever situation you have, it seems to be irrelevant to the Christians in Syria who are being raped, beheaded, tortured and crucified by Muslims who take the Qur'an at its word... So there's that. So, Yeah, I can be long winded at times but I feel I need to be if the issues are important and looking at the whole world and not just my little world, things are pretty dire right now and it can be almost entirely blamed on Muslims... So there's that. Actually, it seems that the Muslim fundamentalists are just being used to accomplish a specific task for those who are pushing for a "Globalist Economy" or "New World Order" or whatever name you prefer, and once they have achieved the desired effect, they will be dissolved in some manner, not sure what the plan is there but God has His own plan and I'm putting all my money on that one.

As a believer growing up in a doctrinally centered bible teaching church, I must admit the image of Pastor Warren was somewhat impaired. I was very impressed by his theological grounding. I learned a lot of things about him that I did not know, which reflected well on him as a pastor and a child of God. Thank you for the humility to explain yourself, the net result was a conscious decision on my part to read and listen to your books/sermons in the future, where it previously was not a priority. May God use it to conform me into the image of His Son.

He was merely showing respect. It doesn’t mean he agrees with him. You have to show someone respect if you are going to have influence over them. Listen to Rick’s words. He doesn’t believe in purgatory. He doesn’t agree with s lot of catholic doctrine but he is respectful. I don’t agree with some of my parents ideas but I’m respectful. I know I can’t get them to consider my ideas if I don’t come across as loving and respectful. The Pharisees never converted anyone to real Christianity.

Hi Natasha, I'm not sure of your problem with him. But I would encourage you not to let that stop your walk and please be careful of judging. It is not our place to recognize his heart. What did he do to you to deserve that judgement? Judging is God's responsibility. Therefore, remember to love. The Purpose Driven life helped me and so many others. But what helps us the most is the Word of God and our Relationship with Him. I don't understand why you need to pray for closed doors. But I remind you, Rick gave himself 10% while the church 90%. I don't know any or very few human beings that will do such a thing. From what I've seen on this interview, they only spoke the Truth. Many do not want to hear the Truth lest known receive the Truth. Please don't judge people, but support us all in our walk with God. Lift us up as we lift you up, forgive and let's be very careful of speaking against those who strive diligently as workers of Christ. 😊 Sometimes our own people curse us and discourage our walk.

***** I don't know your reason for saying the above comment. But the Bible DOES help people help themselves. It helped me and so many others. But we have to have an open heart and the willingness to receive Spiritual understanding. Please know, I'm aware of the Word of God.....please read my note carefully 😊 Also, What does this have to do with what I said? Are you stating I and/or Rick are not humble? I don't necessarily disagree with you. I'm asking once again, what is the problem with the statements on Rick Warren? Are you accusing him of not being the very thing you state? Also, why is it when one is Blessed to become wealthy, then so-called bible prophets & scholars falsely judge and mislabel? I'm just checking....what is your point? Please know I'm aware of the Bible and Holy Spirit ..... The 3-part trinity..... I say that to say that God does not want us falsely pointing fingers at each other.....we ARE to walk in love. Remember, the battle is suppose to be outside of the Kingdom, not inside. Be very careful of harboring hate and too much correction. Correction without listening will get us nowhere 😃 Save souls and rid of the envy,hate, & false representation of one's calling. Be very careful of discouraging people from walking in Christ and helping to save souls 😊 With that said, smile my brother & sister. God teaches us through His Word that He helps us through Christ.

Ive seen KZbin clips slandering Christian ministers. People will spend so much time making videos that show no love or mercy towards leaders who don't teach what they agree with. As I read the scripture we are to reprove but in LOVE through scripture. I really appreciate John Piper setting a good example and sitting down with Rick Warren to address concern with humility and gentleness. I think instead of calling someone out by making videos that show no real concern but to deliberately slander a person we should pray for them and pray that God will bring them back to the truth or put someone in their path that can speak to them personally in the biblical way. Too many are proclaiming to be watchman but do not walk in the fruit of the Spirit. We all need to be careful because anyone of us can stumble, for me personally I would rather be reprove someone who really loves and cares for me than someone who is just out to get me.

+Martha Newcomb If the devil himself would come to you in human form and speak slight distortions of the true Word of God, you would not notice it with your worldly attitude which you display here. The Word of God is our sword and weapon against the powers of darkness. We are supposed to use the Word of God as a weapon and wound and kill principalities and powers of darkness and be the light of the world and SPEAK the true Word of God and not fear consequences. True followers of Christ are supposed to be like oil that under no circumstances mix with the water of the world. Martha, your words sound kind and loving, but that kind of love and care is what sends people sugarcoated to hell. Sugarcoating is no love. God, even Jesus, is Love and Truth.

+Alki Malk wow! I'm sorry you feel that way! You don't know me. I'm loving but I'm not surgarcoating sin! I do believe in reverence and respect for God's word! Apostasy is very real! And I know it's all over TV and with popular Christian speakers. However, calling them names like stupid or idiots or demon-possessed people is not fruitful for the body! The only way people can truly discern is through the word. Even videos are flawed. I can be mad all I want but my prayer is for those who are mislead or doing the misleading will turn their hearts to God! In John 17:17 it says the word of God sanctifies. It's the word that gives clarity! I need to be very careful how I address the body or anyone claiming to be part of it! If I'm wrong or misjudged I'm accountable to God for what I say! God is all about restoring! I have to keep myself from allowing Satan to make me bitter towards anyone! Especially those who do wrong in the body. It's a slippery slope. Be careful.
@alkimalk2922
@alkimalk2922 9 жыл бұрын
Martha Newcomb Nice text, you begin all "christian", I suppose, and end it all in fear and in satan. You mention Jesus not even once, but express your fear for satan... You all busy with everyday life, you poor you? No time to go to the marriage feast? You have to feed your child, care for your husband, work is too much, and all is dragging you so much down and exhausting you, right? Wake up! You shall fear God, not satan. God the Creator is greater than satan the created. Do not fear satan's power over your life for God is at your side if you keep staying at God's side. Be holy, be strengthened in spirit through prayer and fasting, and fight with your sword and be guarded with your armor. Jesus will win the war halleluja, and there won't be any satan evermore. This is how you shall address those who claim to be part of the body of Christ: Rebuke sin and sinners in the church and CAST THEM OUT OF THE SANCTUARY WITH WHIPS and give them over to satan! You SHALL NOT keep them in the sanctuary while you pray for them but you shall CAST THEM OUT FIRST in the hands of satan and then pray for them! Since this is something the church won't do, in the contrary, the church opens its doors to ALL men and women and demons alike and casts out true Word-obedient Christians (being called quarrelsome "fundamentalists"), you SHALL run out of the whore of a church and run for your life, literally! The body of Christ as you call it is lukewarm and makes Jesus feel all sick and ill inside. The body of Christ is pathetic and Jesus shivers in disgust. Get out of her and do not have any share in her whoring, and don't stay in it any longer. God is all about restoring? Who told you that? My God, how I read about Him in the Bible and how I have experienced Him, does not restore anything in the sense of "repairing" but always makes, fashions, and creates NEW things. Literally, God would never glue the pieces of a broken vase all up but would throw the pieces away and make a new vase. God has no interest in restoring this fallen church, in the contrary, He calls His saints to jump out of the rotten and sinking boat of a whore. You shall not be bitter and hate humans but shall hate sin. If you love humans with a godly love, then you will rebuke your neighbor according to the parable: "first cast out the trunk out of your own eyes so that you may see clearly to precisely pull the small wood piece out of your brothers eye. Judgment begins on yourself first, and from there with a clear eyesight moves on to those around you. The saying "Jesus said you shall not judge!" is from satan. I don't care if you know a Jesus, but do you know The Jesus? You know that Jesus is God? God Himself? You tell me to be "careful", and I tell you that I could not care less. I will run on my little feet like an infant on its small feet and likewise I will fall on my face many times. I do not fear the falling for the running is way too exciting and I do not feel pain, for I am no adult but a babe, and my Father loves me and gave life to me, and once I fall, my Father has already lifted me up and put me on my feet. I shall not fear satan, I shall fear God and be in peace forever. Even so, come quickly, God Jesus.

Also regarding anybody who teaches Chrislam and subscribes it for their church, run away as fast and as far as possible. Chrislam is used by preachers who out of fear of Islam, be willing to mold themselves for Islam and mix in that religion with Christianity when in truth both are incompatible. Flee from this teaching at once and only read what the Bible teaches. There's gonna be persecution, but at least you'll be facing persecution for doing what is right. It's far better to face the wrath of humans than the wrath of God.

Whoever thinks John Piper is a false prophet or a wolf can't be born again. I've been following brother Piper for years now and he is without a doubt born again and a good shepherd of the Lord and very few men I've heard have a love for God as he does. Others that I've heard for years like him are Leonard ravenhill, Paul washer, voddie baucham. You want sound doctrine, KZbin these guys and watch ALL the sermons you can find. And these are all a mix of denomination from Calvinist to baptist.

+rocky baudoin I know of Leonard Ravenhill, but also knowing his Pentecostal underpinnings, I've always just as soon got my teaching elsewhere. As for Voddle Baucham, I must admit I've never heard of him. As for Paul Washer, I know him well (not personally), and he is definitely a heretic. He teaches that sometimes salvation is by faith and other times it's not. Sometimes, the person desiring salvation must cry out to God like hell is about to swallow them up, and God still might not save them. So they need to keep crying out. No Christian trying to pursue holiness need subject themselves to that. Washer will answer to God. Thanks.

I don'w know..like there seems to be conflicting opinions on pastor Rick Warren. Some says he's a false teacher, some really likes him. There seems to be no middle ground. Since we cannot really scrutinize his private life, from what I see in public, his sermons are pretty practical. It is based on the scripture, and it's not too prosperity-driven?? At least from what I think. But yah, compared to all about scripture sermons, Rick Warren is not that type of pastor. I don't know, I might be wrong. But compare to Joel Osteen, Rick Warren seems more in line with the Bible.

I confess I came to this interview hoping John would destroy Rick's erroneous beliefs, and as he kept reading from his notes on Rick's book, The Purpose Driven Life, I was thinking, yes, that's correct, yeah that right, and I began to think John had somehow sold out, and was endorsing Rick's understanding of Scripture, I kept waiting for him to confront and rebuke, I was saying to myself, come on get to the bad stuff, but the more I heard from Rick, the more I saw a Christian who wanted to do nothing other than to glorify Christ, refusing even to acknowledge that man is able to do anything of himself, without the work of the Holy Spirit. I heard Rick say that God creates evil and uses it in our lives to conform us to the image of Christ. Something I have not heard from any church I had attended, yet it is a fundamental truth found in Scripture (Isaiah 45:7). I heard Rick's views concerning predestination, and I heard a thoroughly biblical explanation, - predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ! Righteousness imputed, not imparted, the propitiation of God. Sanctification only possible because we have been given the power from God, absolutely nothing from us, that we should glory. God in us working out our salvation. He goes back to Scripture and states, "And that, not of yourselves! Where was this heretic I had been warned about? I came to this expecting a heretic to be exposed, instead I found a godly man who I can love as a brother, because he is my brother in Christ. I have confessed my sin to the Lord, and thank Him for working in such a way in Rick's life. I do not praise Rick for bringing glory to God, but praise God that He is bringing glory to Himself. I thank my God for Rick, I will also pray to God for Rick.

For real?people should read the true Word of God open there Bibles, so that they will recognize the false prophets and not be led astray Did you also know that he said that baptism isn't really necessary If you know the real living gospel, you would know that not giving people the truth, it will steer them away from God, and their souls won't be saved He doesnt speak about Jesus and dying for our sins John. 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Corinthians 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. He also doesn't talk about repenting your sins He twists the whole bible to hes liking, glorifying man Its watered down gospel, that makes people feel empowered, and excited, and believing cause they dont see the warning signs So if you think listening to empty words that steers you away from building a real relationship with the true God, then Rick is perfect for you But if your not a luke warm Christian, then go do your research on him, and decide for yourself if its worth letting this man play with salvation of your soul

Many have benefited from the teaching of both John Piper and Rick Warren. But we must remember to be bereans, and always bring it back to Scripture and make sure everything taught is from the Bible. When I look at the fruits that Warren has produced, he seems like a motivated leader. But what ever happened to humble servanthood and every word that you speak making God more famous? When he spoke on TedX, he talked about himself only, about his life and how he got to be the person he is. Why not talk about being conformed to the image of Christ? If you watch just a few minutes if this video, you see that he loves nothing more than talking about himself, his gifts, his life, his philosophy, his everything. How many times did he say "me, my, I, myself" in this video contrasted to how many times he said "Jesus Christ". One last fact, rat poison is only 1 percent poison and the rest is harmless. The same thing applies to the teachings we listen to, a little bit of deceit can be hidden in a whole lot of truth.

Perhaps when you say “this generation” you mean “the worldview of this generation”? Mr. Warren promotes a counterfeit gospel. It looks nearly identical to the real one, but it’s certainly a counterfeit-new-age gnosticism adorned with a biblical veneer. The Bible tells us to judge righteously, and he needs to be called out. I say this only with compassion and a hope that he comes to seek the true Christ rather than the worldly Christ, the latter of whom is soft on sin.

I believe that regardless of anything else it's a good thing that millions of people are talking about a lifestyle that is Bible based. We hope and pray that those affected by his book want more; we also know where the true answers are, the Good Book. So I pray that God in all power and mercy takes this and uses it to implement the will of Christ in non-believers through the intercession of the Spirit! Those people can then forge their own personal relationship with the Father. This 'toe in the water' could be exactly what some need to find God.

i love when Rick warren humbly said I have no brain capacity to understand God . .. 😢

This interview reminds me of the relevance of face to face communication as a means to produce understanding. John gives rick the opportunity to elaborate in order to define and to clarify meaningful points. This is what's missing in social media and one of the reasons so many people are flying off the handle.

But they are both more godly men than I am who have led thousands to the obedience of the gospel and have poured out their lives for the sake of others. Y'all need to calm down and imitate them as they imitate Christ.

the Bible tells the believers to be aware of false teachers or prophets. believers are taught in the Bible to discern what's true and what's false and to point out the truth so that no one is mislead. the only way to identify false teachers is by the word of God, the scripture. Don't believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they're from God, for many false prophets have come into this world.

If this guy doesn't talk about the first and second causes then he is clueless as to the doctrines of the bible. Everyone knows the first cause is Gods Sovereign will and the second causes is mans responsibility. Period end of discussion. Mans volition is dependent on Gods free will. Man doesn't have free will to do whatever he wants only God has total freedom of the will. There are no outside influences directing Gods choices. NONE. But man whoever does have multiple factors in his decision making process hence man does not have free will but is bond to something. Edwards was smart but Luther was smarter. Martin Luther, was published in December 1525. It was his reply to Desiderius Erasmus' De libero arbitrio diatribe sive collatio or On Free Will, which had appeared in September 1524 as Erasmus' first public attack on Luther. At issue was whether human beings, after the Fall of Man, are free to choose good or evil. The debate between Luther and Erasmus is one of the earliest of the Reformation over the issue of free will and predestination.

“I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges. Not only is Warren short on repentance in much of what he says and does, but it also seems he is even shorter on OBEDIENCE to Jesus who says "If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:15. On repentance he claims it is just a change of mind or attitude which results in action but both Jesus and Paul demand action leading to repentance .”34 Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. 1 Cor 15:33-34 (NLT) 9 but if you return to me and keep my commandments and do them, though your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there I will gather them and bring them to the place that I have chosen, to make my name dwell there. Neh 1:9 (ESV) 14 But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.” John 5:14 (NLT) 19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Gal 5:19-21 (NLT)

Rick Warren used to be fine. His "Purpose Driven Life" book was inspiring. However, since then finding out about his many discrepancies especially changing to Chrislam made me back away from him. I'm learning he's nothing more than a false prophet and now should be avoided when possible. Chrislam is created by wimps who want to water down Christianity to be a copy of all faiths and in Chrislam's case...Islam. Don't read "A Purpose Driven Church". Don't waste your time and money. It's sad to have to bring it up, but it's better to know the truth than to be deceived. There's far too much deception going on in the Christian life today.

Then I heard about the whole Crislam situation, I became totally turned off. Some friends told me "The Purpose Driven Church" was worse than the book I read. I really lost interest by that point, but I see why they felt the way they did.

When I was in my "reformed phase," I legitimately believed that Rick Warren was "not preaching the Bible," and that his preaching "wasn't deep." On the other hand, I looked at John Piper and thought the opposite. Now that I've grown and matured, I see it's not a matter of truth/falsehood, but simply of matter of how people believe transformation happens. Piper believes that transformation occurs by simply giving people heavy doctrines about God, Christ, salvation, and Rick believes it's through practical applications of the text. Which one is right? Well, it depends. There are people who are natural learners and doctrinally-focused so they'll go to people like Piper. Then there are people who are more pragmatic so they'll go towards Warren. Both groups are transformed. Both Piper and Warren, I believe, are preaching the Bible, just through different styles and angles. And people who side with either of them need to recognize that both men are not "in disagreement" about "truth/falsehood," but about preaching styles and methods.

hey guys... Rick Warren was off his rocker to have said what you've quoted him saying. I'm not here to defend him... not at all. But understand we all say stupid things from time to time and they can be used our of context as well. regardless... a pope for all Christians is absurd. you and i both know this. but we all know that there is one truth and it's found in Chris Jesus. for He is the only way to salvation. the only path that leads to the Father in heaven. and yes, we are to judge each others fruit... how else can we hold each other accountable. Rick has some explaining to do as far as i'm concerned. but the truth still stands. one way to heaven... only thru Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not even a problem... i too, think many of the mega churches are run by the "golden rule"... most churches for that matter... and that means... "those with the gold... rule" sadly, my many many years of church experience, both as a parishioner as well as a full time church employee have be enlightening... most negatively, unfortunately. Power and control are found everywhere. Christ Himself was against the "established" church of the first century. too much piety. I believe it's Satan's way of making today's church ineffective for the true calling... Matt. 28. Peace Brothers... Stand firm in the Truth!
