Mr shrimp, there's something I've been thinking about for some time now while watching your videos: all of these scammers have terrible english skills and come up with ridiculous nonsense situations. This got me thinking, what would happen if a person with good English skills and a not so far fetched story would try scamming? I mean, instead of awarding 20 million, they could just say 500-1000$ which would be more believable. Someone who knows how to speak fluently and to sound "serious" (someone with business knowledge) I wonder if they would be more successful ? What is your take on this? Ps: I watch your vids daily, even multiple times. I really enjoy your vids. Since this is a full time thing now, why not launch a patreon? I would happily lend in my support.
@srj343 жыл бұрын
I know you were asking Shrimp, but the scammers don't want to hook people who fall for plausible amounts. If someone really believes they are going to receive $20 million from the Google e-mail sweepstakes, that's a perfect victim.
@dodderss3 жыл бұрын
I would also like an atomic shrimp patreon
@higherquality3 жыл бұрын
Please respond bro
@pagatryx54513 жыл бұрын
I'd say you'd easily get many more people falling for more believable amounts. BUT...I think, regarding the prize money, larger amounts (while less plausible) allow the scammer to request more cash. For example, they don't want $20's to 'deliver' you $500's. Rather they want thousands to 'deliver' you millions. So they end up catching far less victims, but those that do fall for it pay many times more. Regarding the rest of his comment: Yes, better English skills, more believable situations, etc. Would make scamming more efficient. And more people will fall for them. But it's hard to make 'free money if you pay them' ever sound that believable. So better scammers nowadays, rather than trying to make you send bitcoin or whatever, try and get you to go harmful links for the 'free money' instead. They also automate the system with bots, sending out a variety of messages telling you to go to 'x' site every couple of hours, I've even seen some automated responses to my replies. And sometimes when you respond to the bot, those behind it will manually reply, but usually after a couple of days. (They probably get a lot of replies to the automated messages. I know they manually check your replies as I don't think bots can get their feelings hurt very easily...) But still, these type of scams are only likely to catch out the elderly or vulnerable people who aren't great with their tech smarts. Otherwise, the 'best' scam in my opinion, the one that can hit anybody, is one that relies on coincidence. That's the only one that is easy to fall for. For example: If you receive a text message from your bank saying your online transaction was denied and go to 'x' site or call 'x' to fix it, and you just so happened to have bought something earlier on in the day and they just so happened to have gotten your bank right...I can see how you might fall for it. Scams that target your everyday actions, that make assumptions about who you are and what you did recently, while they might be easier to spot if they guessed wrong, if they get it right it can be quite easy to fall for. And for that you need good English and plausible setups.

I always like to imagine that there is some guy in Nigeria desperately trying to give away the gold.

I feel bad for this scammer now, he’s so gullible. Probably going to be scammed himself
@thephoenixking10863 жыл бұрын
then you are an idiot, for feeling sorry for a Scammer..... Sorry, I had to say it lol, just imagine all the people they have scammed, old people un-knowing of what is going on.... No matter how badly hurt the scammer is, I will never care for them.

Nah,don't. They are just trying their luck
@LogicalReasons3 жыл бұрын
@@Eisenwulf666 56 days with the same person? creating documents with the hopes that he might pay despite the fact he's already taken 30 days? I fully believe that this is his only lead. and I feel bad simply because of the fact because he's such a fool
@thephoenixking10863 жыл бұрын
@Sandra Swan have you ever heard of a Joke?? We are in 2021 using the internet. I don't think they are an idiot, I was just taking the mick since they said they feel sorry for a SCAMMER (a type of person i do NOT feel sorry for). I feel sorry for the people BEING scammed.

@@thephoenixking1086 ah yes the typical "haha you're a piece of shit, haha it's just a joke dw", if you seriously think that if you precede an insult with a "im jk" then you're the only idiot here

"Cash disguised as gold bars" has to be one of my favorite running gags in these scambaiting videos, lol
@imwithstupid0863 жыл бұрын
You are correct. The point of scambaiting is to *stop* these criminals, not supplant them. Even if you end up donating the money to a charity or use it for some other good deed, you're still ethically compromised, opening up the opportunity to begin rationalizing being a full-blown scammer.
@AtomicShrimp3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I mean, also if someone in authority ever does 'follow the money', I don't want to be in that line of examination. I don't think I'd ever want to be absolutely and unthinkingly bound by rules that I set for myself, but you've still got to have them

The John Barosa/Warosa series is such a gold (bar) mine. Thank you for wasting so much time to bring us these nuggets.

I may only come to be entertained, but I really do support you because of your opinions. I admire what you do and that you hold yourself to better morals than taking money from people.

While watching this saga I am imagining that John Barosa is actually some kind of modern adventurer born in Lomé, Togo but spending much of his youth as a mercenary in the war in DRK but after leaving that war with a box of money and gold bars stolen from a local warlord and later losing it to the UN he actually got an education in law becoming a barister and travelling the world looking for the box again before after finally finding it deciding that this blood money would serve better to the less priviledged of the world.

Actually quite impressed on the fierce resistance put by the scammer. I thought that by the 3rd time you'd propose to take the fee out of the "prize" he would have dropped it

Some very high level time wasting happening there, your dedication to stringing them along was very impressive ! Good effort on the Coin Squirt infomercial too and I really liked The Day The Earth Stopped Responding with every clip removed apart from the bits with no dialogue, whatever gave you that idea ?
