Although Im an american I grew up listening to a lot of folk music from many other countries and im a huge nature activist as well. I think that this song still holds up today with whats going on in the world especially when it comes to corporate greed and not giving a shit about the environment or the cultural significance of these places and what they mean to people. I think its super important to preserve our world and I encourage anyone who reads this to do what they can to protect our planet. We live in extremely hard and vulnerable times so take care

I don’t think I’ve listened to John Williamson since I was a kid. 11 or 12 at the oldest. I’ll be 26 in two and a half weeks. I randomly started singing the chorus of this song in the shower and had to hear it again. I’ve been a punk music fan for the last decade but I can still appreciate the true blue country music of John Williamson that I loved as a kid. I think I’ll listen to some more and go on a little nostalgia trip.

@@buckminsterowski Queensland's highland forests are made of wood. They are planning to put wind turbines in multiple such locations because apparently they are the only places with enough wind. As of now these areas are high in biodiversity and often contain rare species. specifically flora, due to what is called sky island evolution. Now as turbines do not plop in to the ground like lolly pops. This will require large road networks for heavy vehicles and extensive clearing. All this when there is plenty of room for solar down on the blazing hot plains. And that is a much larger habitat, that can soak up far more disturbance. But you know politicians and their plans.

Much love to Sweden, personally would love to travel and see many places including your country. Deep down we all one family as humans, it’s terrible shame the most influential often delve into politicians and politics using communities against other communities of the world to fracture the love, the learning/ skills and the support many us feel we could truly share. Yet absolutely beautiful how we as individuals can reach out n pick each other up and remind we all have some amazing individual and patriotic experiences to share. Each our states n territories here so different yet not, wonderful mix of the smallest details which can seem similar or rather contrast. Definitely be an amazing trip for you and us (with your company and tales) when you make it down under, I don’t doubt you’ll be shouted few beers n fed few times by our people, never know which age, gender, race or religion/spirituality you’ll come across that will reach out to shake yours and I love it.

This song has been in my head for 35 odd years. It comes up whenever I think the word "rip", for whatever reason - I find myself singing, "Rip, rip woodchip, turn it into paper.." I suddenly realised I could Google it and probably find out where I'd heard it... Aaah! It's John Williamson! Of course it is! I just knew it was an Aussie with a guitar! (A guitar made out of WOOD, I'll just say, but enough about that! 😆. ) Great song . And I might add, that he was one of the first to openly sing in his Aussie accent, and as jarring is it can be, it has become far more common now with Aussie artists - though few quite as "occa" sounding as John's 1980's 🇦🇺All Australian Vegemite accent!

Gday John my names Brad. I grew up around eudunda in south Australia. I lost both my legs in a work accident. I sold my story to save lives in the powerline industry. I need ya help though mate! I gotta write a song about over coming the trauma and loss of my legs and the passion I still feel for the bush! I bought a dirtbike from selling my story so I can ride again.. I coulda bout a house haha but nah I only want a new dirtbike. She’s 20 years old I absolutely love it! Give us a yell mate. I met ya when I was 12. I sing true blue every morning to remind me who I am and where I’m from.
