I went out with a married man when I was around 20. My first questions to any guy that asked me out were are you married, are you living with someone. He said no to both. Went out a few times and I dumped him. He came to my place of work with his wife and child and introduced me to them. I waited til he was sans wife and child and I punched him in the stomach...hard. Another one and I were eyeballing each other on the Chicago L for months, very cute, very sexy. Don't know how he got my number but called and I asked the questions. He flunked and I hung up. Any woman that falls for this garbage is desperate and hard up...probably for good reason.

Listen, I have a friend who was seeing a married man for a few months and had no idea this guy was married. She really liked this guy. We found out through a coworker that he was Married! she showed us the wife's social media and the family, date, wedding pics were all there. She immediately texted him that she would no longer be seeing him and that she found out, his response was that they were separated and if he had told her she wouldn't have given him a chance and her response was to block him. This episode was somehow so validating to me. 5 years ago my husband suddenly up and abandoned me and my daughter for another woman about 10 years younger than me (I was 30 so imagine that Lol) - he blindsighted me and our daughter too. And yet I felt like the evil petty one for not being comfortable whenever the other woman is brought up or my daughter is in their company. I've tried to convince myself I'm bad for disliking the other woman and trying to tell myself maybe she's not a bad person, that it's his fault and maybe he lied to her too (he probably did) ... but no- now I know there's no way she couldn't have known that she was a catalyst in destroying our family. In no world does a man just happen across someone better the very same moment he is conveniently already breaking it off with his wife. In retrospect the separation needed to happen bc I'm in a way better place now and I'm with someone who respects me a whole lot more... but this episode at least helped me come to terms with the fact that some of my feelings of disdain for my ex husbands new girlfriend were valid. What kind of self respecting person puts themselves in a situation where they are destroying a family ? And what's to stop him from doing it to her next? Thank you for this episode John. I'm still healing and my daughter is too- and hearing your answer to this woman helped me to not feel like I'm totally crazy or "jealous." I just felt wronged and lied to, is all.

Not necessarily. As women were not often taught to see our value outside our body. We often look for validation that we're loved and desired based on a man "wanting" us. If more kids grew up in a home with parents that have a relationship with God, they'd learn that God loves them so they don't need attention and validation from men. Almost 20 years ago, when my father had been dead for 3 years, and my Mom was dying in a nursing home, I was cleaning out stuff from his home office. I had to drill open the lock of a filing cabinet. I discovered a large amount of correspondence (paper letters- pre-internet) between him and his MISTRESS of 13+ years. All of a sudden a number of "oddities" (his random "business trips" as a REALTOR (she lived about 100 miles away), a P.O. Box MILES from our home for "business", etc.) made sense. The mistress called it off because she was worried of one of them having a health emergency (both aged in their 60's at the conclusion) during a "tryst". I was a WAY full grown man, age 45. I was CRUSHED. He was never a very good father, but I thought that he was at least TRYING, and doing the best he could. WRONG. I can't even imagine how horrible it must be for the kids they dragged into this train wreck. I actually had to seek counseling help to deal with the "loss" of the image of my father. The counselor strongly advised me to tell my 2 younger brothers, to seek their support, as he said it would help me a lot. I agreed that it would help me greatly, but the PRICE would be dumping a truckload of pain onto THEM, something I wouldn't do. The only person I ever told was my beloved late wife. She's the one who urged me to seek counseling. When people do crap like this, they send out WAVES of pain to others, like ripples in a pond. Sickening.

I’m glad I heard this today! I’m currently working my way out of an addiction to a married man. Once you take the rose covered glasses off it becomes so much clearer that they are no good for you. It literally started to take an emotional and physical toll! The moment I told him to choose me and he didn’t was all I ever needed. Imagine, he fed me every fantasy in the book. I ate it all up. What a fool I was. I’m have learned from my mistakes and will work on regaining my own trust to not abandoning my core values ever again. It’s crazy when you read other comments from other people who have gone through the same thing the statistic of 97% of these type of relationship not working out is soooo true. This poor girl sounds like she’s a totally immature person. Very unfortunate. My wife’s parents had a falling out similar with the whole cheating/other woman thing. Her and the siblings HATED that woman, daddy married her anyways, and he ended up divorced again. Don’t do this, it doesn’t work.

of course she has multiple kids (guessing from different dads) and latched on to some guy who i am betting is at least 10 years older then her and can be a provider her with financial security, bc the odds of her finding a guy to take on her hot mess of a situation is very unlikely... Its more of a red flag that she is saying she would get married to him after only knowing him for 6 months.

As the daughter of a father who was/is a serial cheater, I could never understand the mindset of the women who knowingly slept with a married man. I get it after this call. This caller is selfish, naive, and desperate. She lacks insight and respect for herself. Those kids will NEVER accept her. There is a level of betrayal that cannot be undone. I cannot believe she’s my age! This is gross🤢 I hope she gets the help she needs to have some sense of right/wrong. Unfortunately this doesn’t happen on its own often. So I hope after he breaks her heart she can see the truth and realize the wrong in choosing to be the side chick.

I appreciate how he calls people out and tells the truth firmly, but does so with compassion. Truth really should be a scalpel, not a bludgeon-it should be a tool used rightly so as to heal the patient, not a weapon meant to crush and destroy. We all need grace. We all choose to do evil things in our lives. We all need someone speaking that truth to call us to integrity and accountability to something better than ourselves.
