Depends. Some say that mainly the lifting part is important, others say that, like any other lift, also the negative portion of the rep counts. When powerlifting, it's all about the lift, and not about the negative since the lift is approved when you lock out. When bodybuilding, you want a full range of motion to stimulate as many muscle fibers as possible to cause hypertrophy. What I prefer: I lift the bar and then drop it in a controlled fashion because I cant hold good form on the negative

OMG!!! why have i never thought of doing 1arm Tbar Rows like that!!! @ anyone who has been training for any prolonged amount of time eventually out grows the dumbbells at most gyms (usually stopping at 100lbs) HElls yes!!!

I do the same thing, slams the weight down. when I'm deadlifting 700-800lbs and I do 3-5 reps each set, the most painfull part is trying to lower the weigth down and you lower the weigth down over your knees

Well, if you see, they do the negative, but still, they let the weight hit the ground. The only difference between Dorian Yates (considered the perfect performer) and Johnnie (considered the worst performer) performing deadlift is that Dorian doesn't hit the ground, while Johnnie does.

The only thing I dislike about deadlifts is that even if a guy can do like 600lbs if you do sets for reps of 225 you'll still get tired as fuck

True,hes probally worked out more considering im 19 and have only been weight training for about 3 years but it doesnt mean i dont know how to do exercises correctly.As i said before his forms poor on basically every exercise especially the Deadlifts.
