Well, he added the Rock N Roll, Rockabilly, Gospel and Songwriters Hall of Fames to his collection. The only artist to ever pull all that off. The best ever!

At this time Johnny CASH was only 48 years old. Quite young to be inducted in the CMHOF. But he deserved it so very much. He is/was the greatest of them all!

He was, at the time, the youngest person inducted. That says how much he impacted country music.

It's an interesting thing Johnny Cash brings up in his speach here. He says: "There wasn't always acceptance, in the Country music establishment in Nashville, for a long-haired Rockabilly from Memphis". And that's something most people today don't seem to be very aware of. Johnny Cash in the 1950s and 1960s wasn't really seen as Country music. He was part of the 'Rock and roll' wave from Memphis, and he toured a lot with other Rock and rollers. However, at the time of this nomination, and still today, he is a widely accepted part of Country music. In his speach here, Johnny Cash also thanks 'rebels' like Waylon Jennings. That can be an interesting thought as well. Waylon Jennings was a part of the Nashville Country music scene, but he sort of fought the establishment from within, for more freedom and more independence. It probably helped widen the horizon quite a bit. So that raises the question. Would Johnny Cash have been welcomed as warmly in the Country genre, if the whole 'outlaw' developement hadn't happened first?

I remember watching this on TV when it originally aired. It still gets me choked up even now. And I got to meet Johnny Cash and June Carter backstage at The Anaheim Convention Center on February 22, 1980 during his Silver Anniversary Tour. They were both very sweet to me and God made a dream I had since I was 5 years old come true!!. Praise God. Amen.
