This era still cold war I belive that in turn created fun music to lighten mood, upbeat songs like this with serious lyrics, and good slower songs. In a way fear of war brought out the artists and passion.
@MGrayl-ib5fo3 ай бұрын
Because you needed genuine talent back then - something that is still present today but diluted by the not-so-good artists who hide behind autotune & production tricks. Notice how songs had lots of different sections back then? 50% of today's output is just the same thing looped over & over. Jingles as opposed to songs.
@5ven12 ай бұрын
@@MGrayl-ib5fo 100% This seems to have happened since the turn of the millennia. During the 1990s there were still some great bands creating their awesome songs. For example - Roxette and Bryan Adams.

Absolutely fantastic as some of other songs from the same team. Keep in mind, that was the time of great style which included fashion, presentation and synth pop. Analog synthesizers and other instruments added icing to the cake of wonderful and unforgettable lyrics and voices.

The way they worked with the sound of the synthesizers, the super expansive and spatial acoustics they used, was unique, and they did it with all the instruments. I think that at that time they found a way, through sound mixing, to give soul and power to electronic instruments, so that they wouldn't sound like an empty, square can. In addition, there were the voices of the singers, which had to be special for this type of sound. Today, sadly, they do not use this type of arrangement, except for very independent and niche bands (Hurts and his spectacular "Wonderful Life" comes to mind). The good thing about all this is the identification with the 80s that we all find when listening to this type of sound. It is a true journey back in time to a happier and more sincere era.

Oh, send me off to war With a gun in my hand But I won't pull the trigger Our destiny is here Beneath the red, white and blue So lead me to the slaughter Now don't be afraid Come and join the parade For the ultimate in sacrifice It's an old-fashioned story Of hope and of glory A ticket for taking a life I, I don't want to be a hero I don't want to die for you I don't want to be a hero Oh send me off to war In a far away land I never knew existed Subject me to the truth To the horror and pain Until my mind is twisted And what if I fail Will you put me in jail For a murder I will not commit? 'Cause you don't understand Till there's blood on your hands That it's time to forget and forgive I, I don't want to be a hero I don't want to die for you I don't want to be a hero And those who return Come back only to learn That they're hated by those who they love 'cos you're not satisfied Till the thousand will die And your anger is paid for in blood I, I don't want to be a hero I don't want to die for you I don't want to be a hero
