@@LegalizeTax well, let's make an incredibly wild assumption from his statement. In Into The Spider-Verse, we have 7 spider men. They are Peter Parker, Peter B Parker, Gwen, Peter Porker, that robotic mech one, Noir, and of course Miles. I don't think it could be Peter Parker, as you don't see nearly enough of him to make a judgement about his character. Noir is basically Spider Batman. Gwen isn't a Spider MAN, so it probably isn't her. Nor is the mech suit one. Peter Porker is legendary, but obviously a joke character and doesn't really have a sad backstory or anything. Probably not him. Now we have Miles and Peter B Parker. No idea which one of these it could be, but I'm gonna guess Miles.

@@autobotproductions1244 Because Andrew's incarnation sadly involved alot of flaws in the direction in his films, and TASM2 was full on stuffed dog shit, all of this due to it being HEAVILY Studio influenced. This leading to nothing but a brand, that's only purpose was to make more and more movies, for nothing but money. Tom's movies while lighthearted/fun with more simple and focused stories, those stories often were TOO lighthearted, were the humour was not only immature and bland, but was greatly overused, especially when interrupting serious moments, and the overall storyline and direction choices were VERY different from the character, TOO different. So it ended up being a VERY inaccurate, weightless, silly incarnation of the Character. But No Way Home fixed the vast majority of Tom's problems by chucking him into the deep end, with all the responsibilities, consequences and sacrifices all up to him to deal with. Leading to a heartfelt, and decently comic ending, and rebirth for Tom's character. And with Andrew, it allowed the very talented and enthusiastic actor, who happens to be a very big Spider-Man fan, to make the most of it, without studio interference. Thus, leading to a well deserving impactful and emotional redemption.

Honestly I’m gonna do a hot take, I don’t get the spider verse hype I mean it’s really good but I don’t think it’s better than homecoming spider man 2 or even spider man 1. I feel like spider verse has a lot of problems like spider pig, that character really takes me out of the movie and it makes it feel childish. The villains I also feel lack in spider verse they are just villainous to be villainous and you lose the beautiful duality that you get with doc ock in 2 or graves in homecoming. I think a part of what makes Spider-Man villains so good is that they in essence resemble spider man they are faced with great power and great responsibility but they are what spider man could be if he gave into the easy road of evil.

I used to be a Tobey purist-my wife had to force me to go see Homecoming (that was before I was really into the MCU, now I’m in way too deep and watch everything religiously) and I ended up loving it. I think they nailed it right out of the gate with Tom’s Spider-Man; you can feel the conflict between Peter’s desires and his responsibilities throughout the whole movie. Far From Home was awesome too, and actually made Mysterio one of my favorite characters, they did such a good job with him and making him have a lasting impact on Peter. As for the Amazing Spider-Man movies, I avoided them like the plague for a long time, and I only agreed to watch them after seeing the trailers for No Way Home. There’s definitely stuff that doesn’t work great, but most of the performances are great and I had such a great time with Andrew’s charismatic portrayal of the character. SPOILERS FOR NO WAY HOME: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 felt like it was missing a proper resolution for Electro, and I remember really wanting to see Peter talk to Max and tell him that he’s not insignificant or worthless. So glad we got that missing piece in No Way Home, I think I was the only one who kinda freaked out that I got that wish granted, since nobody else seemed to be clamoring for anything like that.

@@Ojas97 First of all MCU Peter is in no way Miles Morales, except for the origin story which is similar for all the Spidermen. You are saying his desires and responsibilities aren't made that big of a deal, which isn't the same for Miles Morales as he is extremely responsible even though he is immature. Besides, Miles is way more confident than Peter Parker which further proves the point... MCU Spiderman did have consequences, it's just that they didn't spiderman in spotlight. In homecoming, he stopped Vulture's black market for illegal weapons, in far from home he stopped mysterio from creating a fake hero image and creating thousands of casualties. And you know about NWH... If you meant if he faced any consequences himself then yes he did, he had to sacrifice his relationship with Liz to defeat Vulture, his identity got revealed in the second movie and then he lost Aunt May and Everyone including his close friends forgot his identity...

@@Ojas97 Peter Parker had Norman Osborn as his mentor who later turned out to be Green Goblin, here it's Tony Stark which has been taken from Ultimate Spiderman (he's a huge fan of tony). Also, as I said before there is no fixed way of potraying spiderman's story. It would have had become repetitive if MCU Spidrman had the same storyline as the other two. Even if some elements of miles has been used he is still far different from his character. Someone could have stopped vulture if not spiderman? It's the plot of the story, ironaman wasn't taking vulture seriously and had he gotten stark tech, who knows what could he have done? You think Spiderman being arrested for for his identity leak linked with Mysterio's mureder is the consequence? No, the major problem was that all of spiderman's enemies came to know about his family and friends identity too... I can agree NWH home had a bit of messy story. But out of all triology endings, NWH was the best because Spiderman-3 was the worst of all and TASM2 was one of the if not the worst.

To be fair though, the first thing Peter asked when he met Tony in civil war was if there was money involved in the project. Maguire’s seriousness and natural webbing (which so many fans criticized) is celebrated. Garfield’s underrated performance is celebrated. Holland’s youth is celebrated, and him giving up so much makes him actually feel like Peter Parker. Andrew Garfield is actually a pretty faithful and good interpretation of Peter... if you go back and read him during the 60s. That Peter was kind of a little shit at first. The kind of guy that, if given the chance, WOULD do the shit Andrew did before his fight with the Lizard. Peter wasn’t an innately good kid. He had to learn that. But most people aren’t exposed to that Peter. Despite everyone thinking of Peter as a high school superhero... in the main comics he hasn’t been in high school since 1965. He’s been an adult since practically the beginning. So I don’t think Andrew’s interpretation of Peter is inherently wrong, it’s just based off a version nobody is used to. That being the early 60s version of Peter, before he got all his friends and modern backstory characters like Harry. There’s nothing wrong with having those things, they can work masterfully. It’s just not what Andrew was going for. Which is part of what threw audiences off of him I think. Most modern interpretations of Peter HAD friends he grew up with. People like Harry or MJ or Ned or whoever. The 60s Peter and Andrew’s Peter weren’t just nerds. They were also kinda loners. Most modern interpretations of Peter are loners because they become spider-man. Andrew and 60s are loners long before that.

IMO Andrew is the best interpretation of Spider-Man and the worst Peter Parker. He is the only one that pull out jokes constantly while fighting, the Spider-Man schtick, mocking criminal cuss he is really overpowered most of the time (spiderman is stronger than most marvel heroes yet he fights crooks most of the time) and having a power trip mixed with a coping mechanism because of his nerdiness and isolation. The peter parker is... Kind of all over the place, he is really good in social interactions with Gwen, but awkward in other situations, is a mess.

it's refreshing to hear a positive review of TASM 2 for a change. it does a lot of things VERY well, even if it's quite clunky in places. I also think Electro gets an unfair rep. People have a very reductive view of his motivations. The movie makes it ABUNDANTLY clear that Max is not of sound mind due to a lifetime of neglect and put downs by the people around him, and naturally he gets unhealthily attached to the first people to show him any sort of kindness (spider-man and gwen stacey). He develops a particularly creepy parasocial relationship with Spidey. If the internet has shown me anything, it's that people like this ABSOLUTELY EXIST. There’s a reason why there’s three different renditions of spider and and sooo many cartoon renditions of him, it’s because he truly is the best superhero and most complex character the Marvel franchise has ever comprised. Truly, because Peter Parker isn’t a super hero, he’s just a good person with greater power he uses to help others. And I know that’s the textbook definition of a superhero, lol, but he gets no glory or fame from it, no money, because no one knows who he is. He doesn’t profit off of helping people, he just does, and sacrifices his own health and happiness to do so. That’s a true hero, someone that doesn’t see themselves as a hero, and Peter never truly has, because if he did, he would expect things out of the people he saves, but he doesn’t. I love Spider-Man, and I think he’s the most appreciated marvel character now for a reason. I find it funny that even in the real world spider man was the problem child of the comics and movies for so long, just fitting the aesthetic of Peter Parker lmao.

The goal was to get Cap and Bucky alive. Iron Man and his side are all deadly offensive fighters so having one teammate that can safely restrain them is a practical choice. He also has strength scaled to that of a spider which makes him physically strong enough to take any hits. Now, kinda cunningly, bringing a young man who idolizes Cap enough to even be a superhero might be a way to persuade Cap to go without incident. Tony didn't expect Cap to see his spider and raise him an ant... an ironically bigger fanboy.

My response about your Spiderman 3 complaint about the kiss and how Peter was acting after SM2 is first, it’s been a few years since the second movie so he’s gotten a bit cocky and emotionally lazy in the relationship like people tend to do. Also he clearly indicates that he thinks of Spiderman as a character he plays (example: when he tries to compare mj’s bad reviews with how Spiderman get treated in the press). So with all that, it’s believable that Peter would think it’s okay to kiss Gwen, with the crowd egging him on when he’s playing his character, like he’d be okay with her kissing someone on stage every night while acting.

The line "When you can do the things I do, but then you don't, and then the bad things happen, they happen because of you" nods to the fact that Tony signed the Sokovia Accords and Steve said "What if there's somewhere we NEED to go, and they won't let us?" Tony realizes through Peter that he did the wrong thing, but it wasn't until later in the movie that he completely changes his mind. If it weren't for that line Peter said, Tony Stark wouldn't have even considered Steve's side of the story at all. I agree that in ffh tony giving Peter such a powerful bit of tech to a 16 year old was nuts but totally seems like the kind of thing Tony would do. It’s risky and most would see it as dumb but Tony sees so much potential in Pete. He literally made him an avenger because he trusts that even if the kid can be a good bit reckless he trusts that he will take the responsibility necessary to fix and grow from any of the potential problems. Tony has always been one to take risks like this. Hd believed it was more important that someone who understands responsibility and has the heart to use the glasses properly gets them than just anyone, especially someone who he knew was going to take up his mantle. I also think that Tony wasn’t expecting to die that early, he probably left Peter the glasses thinking he was going to die years down the line especially if he made his will before infinity war
@supersaiyanfox9190
@supersaiyanfox9190 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I kind of disagree with that part of the film being a fundamental flaw, and the reason why is because this dumb, crazy decision fits within Tony Stark’s character. This isn’t Steve Rogers, James Rhodes, or any other adult who uses their brain 100% of the time, giving Peter these glasses. This is Tony Stark, and he thinks with his heart and not his brain a lot in the MCU. He has made dumb decisions like jokingly trying to unleash the Hulk on the Helicarrier in The Avengers, giving his home address to the Mandarin on national television in Iron Man 3, and creating Ultron in Avengers Age of Ultron. So this concept in Far From Home weirdly makes sense, and it also makes sense when you connect this movie with Avengers Endgame. In Endgame, Tony decides to study Quantum Realm time traveling and help bring back the blipped population because of Peter in a scene where he looks at a picture of both of them together. Tony’s love for Peter in Endgame triggered the EDITH subplot in Far From Home, which fits with what you said about Tony seeing tons of potential in Peter.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Dane Dehaan Green Goblin design, but I actually really like his version of the character. Underneath his cold exterior he's clearly just a scared kid who's driven to villainy out of desperation. While I agree they had to awkwardly shove Peter and Harry bonding into the runtime because they didn't set it up in the first one, they do a pretty good job making us buy the friendship between the two in the time that they had. And they do a much better job balancing the different storylines after that happens. On to Harry himself, he's a sympathetic character almost the entire film. His motivation is literally not wanting to die. While he does make some bad decisions, he doesn't really do anything unforgivable until AFTER he turns himself into the Goblin. Before that, he proves he has a decent set of morals when he discovers what Oscorp has done to Max and is horrified. Immediately after he's framed for the cover up, which is a major turning point. It's the beginning of the tragedy, because if this hadn't happened, there's no telling how his story might've played out. He probably would've gone after the real bad guys, mainly those Oscorp employees that framed him, and never have become a villain at all. Who knows? If that scene had played out differently, maybe he would've become a hero in his own right. But that's not what happens. He injects himself with a substance meant to save his life, but instead winds up turning himself into the very thing Peter feared he'd become. Whether or not it could've been prevented, it was Peter's refusal to help for fear it'd turn Harry into a monster that led to that exact outcome. One could debate whether Peter was in the right or not, but I don't want to get into that. Harry inadvertently turns himself into a monster that kills an innocent teenage girl with her whole life in front of her just to get back at Spider-Man. Where does his story go after that? We don't know because TASM 3 was never made! Does he switch back and forth between personalities like Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin? Does he ever go after those evil people inside Oscorp? Does he ever get a better looking Green Goblin design? So many questions left to theorists and fanfiction writers to answer.

I love all 3. I personally don't see why people keep trying to say there is a "best" spider-man. Like, they're all the best for what the directors were going for. In order to say one is better than the other, the directors would have to actually be trying to do the same thing. And then I hear "andrew is best because he's comic accurate" and I'm like that doesn't make him best because who's to say the directors for every one were trying to go for comic accurate?
@rogueguardian
@rogueguardian 2 жыл бұрын
@@xmant8842 I think the reason people compare them so much is mainly due to how passionate they are about the character in general and while I get that to an extent, I think judging a movies qaulity based on a previous movies high points really isn't fair, Rami did what he did great, Webb (while held back by Sony's interference) still did a decent job, and of course Jon Watts has been really making a name for himself with his films. The thing I want to point out though is just cause one way worked really well, doesn't mean it has to be done THAT WAY every time I think hardcore fans of the Rami trilogy kinda miss that sometimes. The whole point of different writers and directors is to distinguish new films from the previous ones.

Tony Stark enlisted Spider-Man because he already saw him running around doing superhero stuff and he would be far safer on the avengers than solo which is why he gives some new suits all the time. He's also enlisting Spider-Man on his side which is for superheroes to be held accountable which fits the theme of great power comes great responsibility

Going so far as to watch it multiple times over the week after it had come out of theaters so I could pirate it online.

One thing that the Amazing Spiderman trilogy got right was the swinging, its the whole reason I like the films and the ps4 game, because the swinging was like a direct copy to the movies. One of the only things TASM did right is sadly not there in the MCU Spidey films yet, and I hope with future movies, I hope to see more of that. Edit: finally watched the film, somebody gets the reputation they so thoroughly deserve.

Johnny, you definitely hit the nail in regards to MCU Spider-Man. I never had a problem with him getting his suits from Iron-Man or making his own from Stark Tech as long as he made them. He was never Iron-Man Jr. as he was just a kid trying to get by, juggling the responsibility of being a hero and having a life. Aside from the suits, he and Aunt May weren't living in luxury. Really, my problems with him are having his villains being tied to Stark. I was fine with it for the Vulture one time, but having Mysterio again be another former Stark employee was annoying. So yeah, All three Spider-Man are fantastic and valid. I really want to hear your thoughts on No Way Home. Also, I finally subscribed to you today.

Just watched this in full and I'm really happy to hear your take! I've always been at least a partial fan of each of the three series as well, and while I have a hard time articulating my reasoning it's really nice to hear your perspective on it. You actually pointed out quite a few things I hadn't even considered, despite having seen each movie a minimum of twice (yes, even Spiderman 3). In particular, I've been pretty dismissive of the faults existing in the MCU's version of the character, especially with Tony Stark's choices surrounding him, so you've given me a lot to think about if/when I go back through and rewatch these!

You're allowed to not like a certain portrayal of the character, but it feels like a lot of the time, people crap on Tom Holland because he isn't Tobey Maguire. Tom is actually my favorite live action portrayal of the character but that doesn't mean that I disliked Tobey or Andrew's performances. You can like them all, you don’t need to pick one! 😂

I get where you're coming from, I think all of them are great. I liked Tobey Maguire most, but I never liked "riots" caused by few Tobey fans. Right after I saw NWH, I went to re-watch the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy and TASM 1 & 2 the day after. I totally forgot how great those movies were, in their own way aswell. I haven't seen either of them in quite a while, especially in complete. I believe Andrew Garfield is closer to my "favourite" Spider-Man now after looking back. I still like Tobey & Andrew as my "favourite" live action portrayal of Spider Man, I can't really pick between those two. But I have nothing against Tom Holland as Spider Man, I still like each actor. I totally agree with you that you don't have to pick one, like them all if you want.

Something that I love about TASM 2 is that the movie displays the love and care he has for Gwen. He knows that the closer he gets to her, the more he jeopardizes her. I don't know if you noticed this, but Peter sees Captain Stacy every time he interacts with Gwen. This reminds him of the promise in the first film he made to Captain Stacy. To keep Gwen out of it. This makes him paranoid and unsure if his love is worth risking her life. And all of this going in the hands of a teenager. Spider-man truly is my favorite hero
