I loved these bikes. Used to buy them off owners who were afraid of them for $600-$1000 in the late 80s early 90s. Kx 500 / Rm 500 /Yz 490 /IT 465/ CR 480 were my collection. Had to sell them when I left the country though. Now its big bore chainsaws.

No, it' not stroked, i use a totally different top end kit and the cylinder is bolted to the adaptor plate and the plate is bolted to the stock stud holes at the front of the engine block. You won't get these power numbers from a ported 500 cylinder. Thanks for the comments😊!
@JohnnyLehti
@JohnnyLehti 8 жыл бұрын
+supermotardmario i believe those hp numbers when i see the dyno runs. Everybody talks about how much power they have but where are all the dyno sheets? And what fuel was used? It's not realistic to think that a motocross cylinder at 500 cc running on pump fuel would give almost the same power output as a 550cc racing cylinder designed to give maximum power. This is the latest design in twostroke technology, a CR500 was never desigbed for high power from the beginning and the design is 30 years old.

Off Road Domination I know this is an old comment but could you enlighten me about your comment? would it seize due to lack of lubrication from letting off or what?
@offroaddomination5708
@offroaddomination5708 7 жыл бұрын
yes on a 2 stroke if you engine brake (let off the gas and dont pull in the clutch) the engine will spin at high rpm with only a small amount of fuel since a 2 stroke gets its lubrication from the premix oil in the gas when there is little fuel with high rpms it causes heat then friction will build up and the engine will eventually sieze
@Nobody-dc8dp

Nice bike, its cool to see someone actually tuning a bike and not just swapping regular aftermarket parts then saying "you can only get +5hp with all of this" 2-strokes are all about the timing. You might say 30hp is the max for 125cc but there are 55hp 125cc motogp bikes that make that power at higher revs because of the tune. Sure you could tune a 125cc motocrosser to 55hp if you really wanted to. Aftermarket pipes only improve on the stock design, not to shift the rpm higher e.g more power.
@-JX-
@-JX- 8 жыл бұрын
+eamh2002 It's now possible to gain 70hp from 125cc thanks to "Ryger Engine". 30000rpm is possible with that type of engine.

@JohnnyLehti
@JohnnyLehti 8 жыл бұрын
I never Heard of it. Can you explain what a Ryger is ?
@-JX-
@-JX- 8 жыл бұрын
+Johnny Lehti Ryger Engine is a new 2-stroke designed and made by "Harry Ryger" It recently got approved by FIA, it's made for 125cc Karting. There aren't much info out of the engine but I can guarantee it's 100% legit. I have the patent papers and images. I can send you some images of the engine's components on Facebook or somewhere. The way how the engine revs 30000rpm is that the piston rings don't touch the piston. Yes, they don't touch the piston. ESE's works engine tuner thread on the Kiwibiker forums has a lot of information/speculations of this engine and one of the engine creator/tuner/developer also writes occasionally on there.

with that power to weight ratio you are blowing away street bikes in the 1000cc range with ease from zero to 60 and maybe even 1/4 mile. That's a dangerous bike lol
@dean8067
@dean8067 5 жыл бұрын
Nope. The latest 1000cc bikes have around 200 to 205 horsepower, if you exclude Honda with its 186. And only weigh about 200kg while this kawasaki weighs 105, it's allot lighter yes, but the power to weight ratio still favors the street bikes. Not to mention they have better, faster gearing, launch control and such. And in straight line performance, horsepower counts abit more than light weight.

Un grand débat... En réalité sa change rien, juste a changer l'huile 50% plus tôt pour le bottom et plus riche pour le top end pour le rodage!

Faaaaaaaaarrrrrk. That thing is beautiful. I bet she goes like a bat outta hell. I’ve vot a 83 YZ 490 K that was built for the Finke desert race here in Australia. The motor had a lot of port work done and the Wiseco piston didnt look anything like a stocker. It also has a Bing carby on her, the crank pin was relocated or they used another crankshaft to up the capacity to about 510 cc. All the work ive just told was done by the previous owner and im just saying what i remember when i bought it 33 years ago. I also remember him telling me how hard it was or time consuming it was balancing the motor to perfection. It did run very smooth compared to a stock 490. He caimed it made 84 or 85 hp at the motor. It is or was an absolute monster to ride and was geared to do 140-150 mph. It had no bottom end power at all but when it hit powerband it hit like a yz 80. Nothing inbetween. Top gear power starts were no prob but as a motorcross motor it woulve been useless. It was designed to go flat out at all times. The biggest fault with it was if it ever dully hooked up at vertually any speed it would just stand up on its back wheel. It also sat very highwith over 14 inches of travel at the back and nearly 14 at the front with a set of Marzorchi forks. It also had the rake of the forks decreased to help stop it tank slapping. It still had a tendency to start tankslapping but i found the best way out of it was to just turn the throttle a bit more and it would wheelie. It gave the smoothest ride iv ever had on a moto x bike. It was just plain simply plush. It you hit a rock or ledge at 70 mph youd barely feel it thru the bars, the sMe with the back end. Annnnnd it didnt have the kick back like all the YZs had of that era. Very, very smooth.. Nearly every single one of my mates who rode it, got spat off. Most of em it got them exiting the first corner they went around. They’d get three quarts around give it a bit of throttle, nothing much would happen then bang. The back wheel would go from 15 mph to 70 mph ai a matter of milliseconds and it would iether flip em off sideways or just wheelie and they coulnt hang on. Compared to my 83 CR 480 it made the big torquey 480 feel like a slug. It even makes my KXf 450 feel like a gutless heap. There is such a thing as too much power or a better way to put it, too much too soon.

Thanks! Ok, well, i Think you should be glad if you got over 65 hp on a heavily ported YZ 490. It is very common that people "estimate" their powernumbers on these bikes because they are fast and wheelie in almost every gear. They are light and the higher the suspension is the worse they are when it comes to acceleration because they wheelie so easy, especially when the suspension is set up for dirt riding. But as long as you enjoy alla is good :)!
