First of all, Rumor is so loving. Her little tail wag when she got your attention to continue petting her was precious. All the pups look alike right now. LOL! Some are aggressive eaters (hey! Maybe that's your food motivated pup-pup?! LOL) Names?? Hmmm.. 🤔 .. I do like the name "Cheesecake", already posted. "Colby-Jack" is good too (with nickname of "Jack" for hubby!) Since your pup-pup will be one of the boy dogs, how about the French cheese called "Beaufort"! Then to please hubby, his nickname could be "BEAU"! 😄 Have fun finding just the right name!! (ps... Beaufort cheese, is a firm, raw cow's milk cheese associated with the gruyère family. This amount of adorable is absolutely illegal. Also, leopard is an animal and can be shortened to Leo (my name, ironically enough). Still both 2 syllables. I am having a bad brain day, so i talked with ChatGPT, and the one that stood out for me was "Otter" and "Otto". Really seems like one you would do, especially since labs tend love the water. I have no idea if that's the one, but i 100% endorse this name. It's a dog name I've never heard. Have no idea which puppy, too soon to tell, they all look like identical twins 😂.

I usually have a handful of names in mind. But I never name my puppy until I live with him/her for a few days or even weeks. Names are forever so I like the name to reflect the personality usually. Congratulations- I hope you get the perfect puppy for you.

On to name ideas (but I'm excited to hear your current pick): Tree names are often 2+ syllable and a lot of them already work as nongendered human names: Rowan Hazel Willow Aspen Juniper (June/Juno nickname) Forrest Ash and Pine are common human names but monosyllabic so those won't work. Other nature-based names: Sandstone (Sandy) Saffron (this also counts as food, not just the flower, and shortens to Ron--good yellow dog name) Sunflower (Sunny) Elecampane (Eli) Calendula (Cal) Goldenrod (Goldie, tho not really a male name, or Rod) Plus you could just call him Amarillo (yellow in Spanish) and nickname Amo (love in Spanish). Happy naming to you and your hubby, it looks like y'all are getting a ton of fun ideas!

Ooh! So excited for you! I reached out to you, letting you know how disappointed I was we wouldn't be able to raise our puppies together. I fell into a depression because well meaning people were saying things that made me feel bad and lost the ability to look, but I had a friend who put her feelers out for me. She trains dogs for a living! Last week, she told me to contact a breeder with a litter of 12 week old pups. The breeder was excited about us getting one of her puppies once she learned my story and went out on a limb to help us get there faster. She's amazing! Within 72 hours, I had my prospect! I'm now the proud momma of a black (or blue?) Standard Poodle. I named her Midnight Hero, Hero for short! She's gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing which puppy you get! 😍

This is so exciting! For me, there was a litter of 9 born on 20th of August. If one of these puppies show potential of becoming a service dog, I might end up training my first puppy around the same timeline as you! I'll be meeting them on 19 September, and can't wait! These puppies are of a breed called Chebo / also known as an Elo. (Not yet recognized by the FCI since it's still a young breed) I'm still quite nervous since this is going to be my first dog, and the funding to train a service dog is still in the works. For now I'll have to give training the best I can by myself, watching your video's have been really helpfull

So I don’t have any name suggestions, but have you ever considered trying the Beethoven method? It’s how our last four dogs’ names were picked: Moogie (Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix), Satellite (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix), Pop (Australian Cattle Dog) and Apple (Miniature Goldendoodle). Have a list of names you like and try them out until one gets a definite response. It’s definitely an interesting experience, Moogie took almost two weeks before he got named and Apple wasn’t even on the list of names, he initially reacted to a KZbin commercial. Either way, I look forward to the upcoming videos of you sharing your journey with the new pup.

Before getting into your criteria I was thinking something sun, shiny, or hot related but sticking with the cheese theme and because they will bring hot spice to your life how about Pepper as in Pepper Jack. Nicknames can be Pepe’, Peppy or just Jack for your hubby. Are you planning on keeping the litter name for a middle name? If so that might have some bearing on what you pick to help keep the flow. My girl came with Whisky as she was from an alcoholic family 😋 I already had Samantha picked out and I’m just grateful they flow well together. 😊

Tasty might be a good name. The two t sounds have a lot of treble tone in the sound (which carries longer distances than mids or lows) and it doesn't sound like other commonly spoken cues, names or words. I love having names that allow nicknames, my prospect's name is Clover but her nicknames are, Clo, Chloe, Gooey, Ooo Goo, Goo Goo, and Oooey Gooey. I don't know why the Gooey names, they just happened. I love having all the nicknames because it keeps her name special for training. The random name I keep coming up with for your puppy is Fortress. Not food or nature-themed at all. But, it does have good nickname potential like Forty, Shorty Forty, and Fort. When I think about what a Service Dog means to me, I think of safety, resiliency, and strength, and that is what a fortress is. So, weird name, nice meaning, fun nicknames. Oh wow I kind of thought you were going to get a lab. They are so perfect for what you want so who is the dad and see a service dog or a guiding dog or is he a sport dog that does like duck diving and agility and hunting I’m sure they come from Hunting lines and not show lines but maybe show lines they look like they’re finer bone well at least the mom does Gosh, I know you have herding dogs at this time. They are field bred labs that are performance dogs but also therapy dogs throughout.

I don't know much about the sports people play with Labradors specifically, which ones will you be focused on? Is there a way to do retrieving type sports that doesn't involve shooting anything?

Hey Kelly! Yes! Definitely a few options! For retrieving, I'll be competing in UKC shed hunt and maybe the new AKC fetch. I'll also be trying to get my Junior Hunter title. I'll also be playing disc (UpDog) which I guess is technically a retrieving sport of sorts, along with Dock Diving. Outside of retrieving, I'm hoping to compete in Rally, Competition Obedience, train for my trick dog titles and CGCs and anything else my pup finds fun!

I believe the breeder uses the Aviddog test. I don't put a *ton* of weight on testing since it's just a snapshot in time, but another good data point.
