Arthur looks a lot like young Bruce. It's odd that they would even suggest it as a possibility, if they were only going to pull the rug out from underneath what they proposed. Maybe they weren't too sure about how that revelation would be received, so they just got wishy-washy with it, to leave it open and up in the air.

He could have just walked away but instead of that he punched Arthur with full force. Apparently he wasn't afraid that this could have any unfortunate consequences, which might reflect that this has been the case earlier, too. This gives a subtle sign of that everything Penny told Arthur about Thomas might not be false, as he certainly can get away from some things quite easily. In adddition to that, the fact that Thomas is punching Arthur in the face could be a reference to the boyfriend of Penny, who had been abusing Arthur when Arthur was a child. After all, it's just a theory but I have to say that I loved the film exactly because of the multiple different ways to interpret it!

The news articles had the details of the abuse, and you'd think the abuser would be named, if it was newsworthy. If it were public knowledge that Thomas Wayne was a child abuser, the press would annihilate him. I really don't think his character was though. I don't think there is anything to suggest that was the case. Our theories should be formed based on evidences, but it is an interesting theory

I'm sure there could be shady things that happen at the newspapers and police is Thomas wanted. I'm not certain of this theory myself but it's interesting how Todd Phillips does make Thomas Wayne violent against Arthur. He could have just had him say something dismissive of Arthur and walk. So you could interpret from that Thomas is violent and could've beat Penny and is obviously already comfortable beating Arthur.

I think it's scary how much I empathize with Arther while completely opposing everything he's done. I find the story more powerful with Thomas Wayne not being the Joker's father. Arthur's turn to evil comes not from random jerks on the street, but rather from the fact that his own mother was the one that betrayed him. That the one person he thought loved and cared about him was actually responsible for so much of his pain is a lot more emotionally jarring than a giant conspiracy pulled off by a wealthy billionaire.

It would make more sense that Thomas Wayne is His Father and that’s why “you wouldn’t get it”. He is contemplating a reason for his origin story. Batman brings justice to Gotham in His time as a response to the death of his parents while the joker believes he was bringing justice in his time by killing Thomas Wayne. The irony is that they’re enemies but they’re brothers.

I actually think Thomas and Arthur look a lot alike facially. I 100% am sure that was the intention of the director. Misdirection. It doesn’t matter whether Arthur and Thomas are related or not, the audience only has to think so just long enough for the plot to move along. No one can deny that they look somewhat similar. Me and a friend were discussing this idea after seeing the movie, someone like Thomas wouldn’t want that news getting out as it would not paint him in a good light and he may have even been thinking about running for mayor back then. As well as this he’s definitely powerful and rich enough to us people off and get them to forge the documents.

So my guess on the clock thing is that the time on all the analog clocks was 11:10 was because it is a "crooked smile" like his smile (makeup) at the end of the movie. 10:10 is commonly used as a default time for analog watches because it looks like they are smiling, so 11:10 would be a crooked smile with the right side being slightly skewed upwards. Personally don't think it had any meaning towards the plot though, just a fun easter egg.

As to me one of the most heart breaking and my favorite moments is when arthur dancing on the car in front of the crowd at the end of the movie. And when he turns out, (right before he draws a blood smile on his face) his face changes for a moment. You can see so much pain in that face...god, perhaps this is the last moment when Arthur appears acknowledging what he've done and joker hides him with that blood smile forever. But his face...chills every time

I am just confused from where the movie start. In the beginning Arthur told psychiatrist that he likes when he was locked in the hospital. But later when he visit the hospital he asks the clerk how to get in the hospital and in the end he was running from the hospital. From where does the movie start??

Arthur didn't remember being abused by Penny. He couldn't (or just wouldn't?) answer his social worker, what was the reason for his previous time in the hospital. I think he simply just doesn't remember many things from his life, or at the time of their occurance was incapable of understanding why they were happening. So he was in the hospital in the past, and wanted back, but didn't know how to get back.

To me the story was profound. Joker in the last scene in the film has a revenge fantasy against a rich kid (Bruce Wayne) who had the life he always wanted with the father figure (Thomas Wayne) he always wanted. And originally Joker only decides to commit suicide after hearing the news but then after Deniro's character mocks him he realizes another father figure has betrayed him and kills him instead!

So i watched the Joker for a second time...and here's my theory The Joker we see at the end(in white) and in a small cameo (while he is a the psychiatrist) is the actual joker who fights Batman and is locked up at Arkham!!... While in Arkham...the movie takes us into what it's like in his mind, which is nothing but complete delusion and chaos ,where he tries to make sense out of his origin and desperately wants to be the one who created his favourite person in the world...The Batman Everything in this movie ranges from stuff that might have happened or was made up because Joker's mind is so fucked up....that even he doesn't know his origin! (Hence the unreliable narration) Hence to the psychiatrist who asks him "what is so funny?" .....his reply is..."You won't understand"
