Jon & Kate Plus 8 - No Markers at the Marker Factory

The family visit a marker factory however Kate isn't happy when they start playing with markers.

Who on EARTH would take their children to The Crayola Factory and not allow them to color with markers, SERIOUSLY??? I know she’s trying to manage her group of eight kiddos, but she’s doing it all wrong in my opinion. This was their one chance to really explore their creative sides and she was just depriving that from them. If she’s that paranoid about marker getting stained on their clothes, there were other alternatives. She could have either had them wear clothes that were more “artsy” clothes or brought smocks to drape over their clothes with. DUH!!! She created all those behaviors in the kids and them having to leave early. They were clearly frustrated because they could not be kids. The kids were sitting and playing all happily before she HAD to make it all about her once again saying “markers means a whole day of stain removal for me.” When you have kids, it no longer becomes about you but obviously she never seemed to absorb this fact. 😒

Omg. She robbed them of their childhood. How do u go to a Crayola place and they can’t play with markers... that what home moms do...wash clothes, I’ll wash 94939 times as long as they have fun .. smh but everyone has different parent styles, I guess . Lol

My thoughts exactly. Jon even calls her out on it at one point in this episode. He says to her “Kate you’re being neurotic. Really, they can’t have any fun?” You tell her Jon, she’s horrible!!!

They weren’t even 10 here. The twins were 7 and the sextuplets were only like 3! I could not even imagine not allowing a child older than 12 to not color with markers at The Crayola Factory.. To me, that’s like going to Hershey Park and telling your kid “you can’t have any chocolate.” Crazy behavior!!! 😠

Other reality shows with sextuplets the moms allow them to have fun and let them be kids . They said they would rather spend time cleaning up then have their kids not have fun .. have you seen the show table for 12 when the mom has 10 kids ? She was chill and the kids were so happy . Then mom on table for 12 also had sextuplets

I can kinda see why she didn’t want them to use markers because we all know toddlers can be very messy when it comes to stuff like that. BUT let them have fun Karen!

If they were making $25,000 an episode she could have paid a professional cleaner to get any stains out. I’m sure TLC would have covered the bill. Had the ink transferred onto their hands they could have used wipes or washed up before leaving.

@Denim Escalera Oh for sure!!! I never really liked Kate all that much. Always thought she was very controlling and one-sided about many things. I tried not to judge her for years though since she had 8 kids and we don’t know for sure what goes on people’s personal lives. But once the kids got older and especially after the whole Collin thing, it just really began to seem like something was not right with how she was raising them. Then after Jon finally told his side of the story, I just knew. So sad 😞
