You already got propane. Fix or replace your furnace and you will good to go. Easy fix. Get a digital thermostat too. The Mr buddy heater burns hydrocarbons which creates water and CO2. The furance does not do that. It exhausts outside. Most diesel heaters are a pain to install and are not that reliable. Obviously don't run your truck battery for your truck camper. 1 for the camper and maybe a power station for backup. I assume you will probably add solar on the roof or get some portable panels to set up in the future too.

A small clay planter pot over a stove burner works in a small environment, ventilation is still the first focus. A small squeegee is a good investment as well, putting a absorbent towel at the bottom of the window, and then swipe the moisture into it.
@locomotivebreth19102 жыл бұрын
I found sliding windows a pain for winter camping in that they freeze up in the tracks and they allow rain into the camper and the screens clog up with snow. In my rig back in the 1990's I inserted a plexiglass insert into the opened slider section and cut out and bolted in a 12"x 4" luver window that never freezes up and prevents rain intrusion and clogging up by snow. I had 3 of these luvers installed -- one each on both sides of the camper and one in the door -- always providing ventilation on the downwind side of the camper. Highly recommended.

PS I make a butternut squash soup that you could use sweet potato for and it just has the butternut squash onion a clove of garlic and a container of chicken broth 32 oz. Or more...Simmer till all vegetables are done. I add carrot and potato to mine as well and then I use an immersion blender to blend it all up but you could use like a potato masher. Then I add some half and half or you could use cream or milk and salt and pepper and a tiny bit of nutmeg and voila you have a wonderful wintery thick, nourishing soup. You can add anything you want to change the flavor like ginger, turmeric chili powder, whatever you like.

Its not the heater which produces condensation, its You and the humidity of your body and breath which condensates and last but not least the cooking water in the air. Any system which produces heat will start condensation processes, anyway if its propane or Diesel heater. The main reason and issue is the zero isolation of the glass windows and the bad sealings. And the thin styrofoam of the walls is not sufficient! Lot of optimization potential! 😉

Condensation is a constant companion is campers when you cook in them. Opening a roof vent a crack will help a lot- I keep a roof vent cracked open all night, along with a front window. Propane heaters definitely contribute to the moisture problem but cooking and breathing are the real culprits.I recently bought a Wave 3 Radiant propane heater for my van- it doesn't work with a flame as traditional propane heater do, instead it's a chemical reaction on a mat- it does NOT put moisture in the air, it's also silent and uses no electricity. I've used it for a few nights and love it- no overheating me and the van. There are different sizes like Wave 6 and Wave 8 which means 8,000 btu's- they all have a low setting which is roughly half the btu's so my Wave 3 is 3,000btu's on high and 1600btu's on low. I have a Little Buddy and it puts out 3,800 btu's (no high and low) and lots of water and I found it's just too much heat for my 75 square feet unless it's really cold outside. Also the Wave units use about half the propane as Buddy heaters. That's why I switched to the Wave heaters. So far I'm very pleased with it, I even bought a non-electric fireplace fan for the top to keep the hot air moving towards me. Good luck on your journey.

You're right that your heater produces lots of moisture. It's because it's exposed flame tho. If you have a sealed or ducted propane, anything that's not exposed flame system you won't have that issue. Diesel is good too but requires another fuel container so now you're carrying 3 types of fuel. Also they often have issue in elevation. Just food for thought
@godwinaustenn2 жыл бұрын
The regular propane heaters in campers do not introduce any condensation into the camper - completely dry heat as they are vented to the outside. Non vented propane heaters like the buddy do put lots of moisture into the air. Also in terms of mentioning the diesel heater - you are better off with a gasoline heater as they are cleaner burning (less maintenance) and you have the option to tie into your tundra tank !

Our Walmart carries Cabot cheese. I wouldn't say it's the world's best but it's definitely good. Some of the best cheddar cheese I've had is from Aldi and it is their aged cheddar they sell white in an 8 oz square block. Very very good cheddar. It's in with the aged cheeses not the generic everyday cheese. Olive oil is better for you anyway if it's real. California Olive ranch is a good brand and so is Aldi the extra virgin first cold press Olive oil. What a beautiful beautiful winter scene there. A picture of that would make a perfect Christmas card. On that note, have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. 🎄✝️💓‼️👍

Upgraded to a 4" Brooklyn RV mattress this summer. I should have done it sooner, they're awesome. You might want to consider a Propex heater and plumb it into the camper propane system. Interior mounted so less hassle than positioning the diesel heater outside and lugging around diesel. The exhaust hose is pretty small so less of an opening to cut out. Much quieter, similar power draw. I wanted the option of using it for a rooftop tent, ground tent as well as my truck topper so I got a diesel heater. I mounted it to a tire step to keep it off the ground. I still have to lug diesel but my truck also runs on diesel so less of an inconvenience.
